Chapter 6: Where Did the Zombies Go? (Added for Xiaoman's Crown)
Nie Xiong was still hesitant and didn't want to go out. If the back kitchen of Blue Ocean Restaurant was indeed not very convenient, then this place was obviously more spacious and comfortable. He hoped that we would lock the door of the projection hall tightly and wait for the police to arrive, rather than going out to look for trouble.
"Nie brother, stay behind, at least leave one man just in case. I'll go downstairs with you all, don't worry, I won't hold you back." I held up the large multi-purpose knife that I had taken from the kitchen of Blue Ocean, and stamped my feet wearing high-top flat leather boots, indicating that I was capable of taking care of myself.
"Sister! You think..." Luo Xiaonian suddenly forgot that her pants were still wet and jumped up from the chair.
"Sit back down! I'll go and come right back, catching a cold in this freezing weather can be fatal." I pushed her back down, don't look at how chatty she usually is, on many big matters she listens to me.
"Alright! It's true that we can't leave one of the guys behind, but, uh, you're Luo Liangchen, right? You don't have to go, the three of us can come back faster." Sun Zhe was reminded by me and agreed to let Nie Xiong stay behind, but he didn't want to bring me along.
"I said I wouldn't drag you down! I have something important downstairs, don't stop me!" I was a bit anxious and my tone got a little harder.
Sun Zhe gave me a inexplicable look, "Huh! Why is this girl so stubborn? I'm doing it for your own good, aren't I, Sun Ge? Fine! If you want to go, then just go!"
To be on the safe side, we opened the doors of several other projection rooms and took a look. Sure enough, there were zombies inside one of them! The sound indicated that there were quite a few of them! What was astonishing was that this door had been locked from the outside, so the large group of zombies hadn't rushed out.
Listening to their clamor in the hall, we hastily moved out a few rows of chairs from another room and firmly blocked the door, lest they break through and rush out. It was unrealistic to go in and kill them all; as long as they couldn't get out, we temporarily pretended they didn't exist.
We went around the entrance of the cinema, and there was no one in the open space, nor were there any zombies. As we passed by the popcorn counter, Pan Feng picked up a bucket and ate while walking, saying, "Free popcorn is really delicious!"
We quickly turned around on the fifth floor, and met a zombie in the lavender corridor. It was too far from the skylight to push it down, so I involuntarily backed away as it approached. The three men let out a low growl, "Together!" and charged forward with a loud shout. The three of them scattered, Tang Xiao turned around to the zombie's back, suddenly flew out a kick that knocked it to the ground. Before it could react, the three of them jumped onto its body, Pan Feng pressed down on its foot, Sun Zhe stepped on its neck, and Tang Xiao plunged his knife into the zombie's heart with a vicious stab.
What was chilling was that this knife seemed to stab into someone else's body, the zombie did not show any signs of pain or weakness, but instead struggled even more violently. Sun Zhe used all his strength to step on its neck, and just as its hands were about to grab his ankles, in a moment of urgency, he flipped over the sharp knife in his hand and stabbed it into the back of the zombie's brain. Only then did the zombie stop moving, limp and lifeless.
Three people were sweating profusely, backing away nervously and observing the zombie's movements. Fortunately, it didn't revive endlessly like monsters in horror movies; it seemed to have really died.
"Damn it, I almost got scared to death!" Sun Zhe wiped the sweat from his face with his sleeve, only to realize that his knife was still stuck in the zombie's occipital bone.
"Just like in the movies, damn it, they won't die unless their heads are blown off, and even a heart pierced through is useless." Pan Feng's face was also pale with lingering fear, although he had stepped on a zombie's foot, but feeling that inhuman strength was also frightening.
Tang Xiao Zheng took a deep breath, "Brother Sun, you're still the ruthless one. I was just considering whether to blow its head off earlier, but couldn't bring myself to do it. Sorry for almost getting you caught."
Sun Zhe's face was still pale, "Don't blame you, brother, I'm also being forced to the limit, the feeling of poking someone's brain is too damn terrible."
"No matter what, as long as they have weaknesses, we can win! If we can't even kill them with a headshot, then let's go jump off a building together rather than being torn apart by those undead monsters in the end." I suddenly gained courage, and the monsters that could be killed didn't seem so scary after all.
"It's really strange, a person's skull shouldn't be so fragile, it's like cutting through thin wood. No wonder in the movies those zombies' heads are so easy to explode, I thought it was because they were stronger than me." Sun Zhe grasped the handle of the knife stuck in the back of the zombie's head and with a bit of force, the blade pulled out with red and white brain pulp and blood.
Having taken down the first one, when we encountered the second uncle zombie, we were no longer so flustered. The three men still cooperated with each other, surrounding the zombie and constantly turning it around, making the uncle zombie dizzy and unsure of who to pounce on. Then Tang Xiao took advantage of the opportunity and stabbed a knife into its eye socket, piercing through the back of its head.
The scene of killing zombies is quite disgusting! But taking the first step bravely is crucial for our temporary team!
In the toy store, I found the third zombie, a petite girl wearing a store clerk uniform, with her ponytail hanging crookedly behind her head. The skin on her forehead was gnawed to shreds, and a large chunk of flesh was missing from her cheek. Her snow-white teeth were exposed through the gaping hole in her face, making her look even more terrifying. When she opened and closed her mouth, I saw that her tongue was gone.
What a pitiful girl! Pan Feng hesitated for a moment, gritted his teeth, "Let me try it myself! Anyway, she's no longer a maiden, don't blame me for hastening the flower!" After finishing, he rushed forward alone, with his left hand pulling the zombie girl's ponytail back, and his right hand knife directly stabbing into her wide open mouth, the blade entering her brain, the zombie girl collapsed instantly.
Killing three zombies in a row, their performance made my blood boil with excitement. I'm just a woman, but I know that to protect myself and Luo Xiaonian, I must be like a man! Can I rely on these temporary companions who I've only known for less than a day? No! If I want to depend on others, I'll definitely die faster than anyone else.
"Next zombie, let me try, okay?" I couldn't help but ask, "Of course, if I can't kill it, you guys have to save me!"
"Hey? Tomboy?" Sun Zhe started a killing spree, breaking the seal in his heart, and was still excited to see me wanting to take action, not stopping at all.
"I support you! It's best if everyone takes action. In case we only kill patients, at least the law won't blame us all." Pan Feng sneered with a smile.
"Even if they are infectious, isn't this self-defense? Are we supposed to let them bite us to death?" I gripped the knife tightly, a surge of ferocity rising up in my heart.
Just then, a female zombie emerged from the General Beef Noodle restaurant. She was dressed as one of the restaurant's waitresses. Her scalp had been torn off, her eye socket was empty, and she waved two severed arms in the air. The soft flesh on her abdomen had been ripped open, leaving only a small piece of intestine hanging out like a decorative belt.
"Luoluo Chen, go! We'll escort you." The three of them formed a fan shape to protect me as I approached the female zombie. My heart was racing wildly, like a drumbeat, my brain felt a bit oxygen-deprived, and sweat seeped out from my palms.
"Cut off its head!"
"Stab him in the eyes!"
"Take it on the chin!"
Three men gave me three commands, and I was at a loss for what to do next. The female zombie's bloody face was closing in on me, when suddenly my right hand swung out and thrust the knife into her left ear, slanting upwards through her brain. She stiffened, then went limp. I quickly pulled out the knife, sweat pouring down like rain.
"Wow!" they exclaimed, "This move is really beautiful! Little sister, have you killed people before?"
I shook my wrist for a while to catch my breath, "Its head is much softer than I imagined." Then looked down at the knife, "The all-metal handle of the knife gets sweaty and easy to slip, I need to wrap some cloth on it."
I forced myself to calm down, only I knew that even my toes were numb, but I didn't want them to look down on me. If we were going to survive with them in the future, Luo Xiaonian and I had to become useful members, not burdens.
We were extremely excited and decided to clear the floors one by one, trying our best to ensure the safety of our companions in the cinema upstairs. Although we were eager to know what was happening outside the mall, what had happened to Bin City, and why the police hadn't arrived yet?
The entire fifth floor was cleared, a total of seventeen zombies were killed, I killed three, and the tense reaction had decreased significantly.
The fourth floor has several restaurants, early education centers, children's swimming pools, toy stores, and a play center. There are only a few clothing stores, all of which sell children's clothes.
This floor is relatively clean, only eleven zombies were found. We worked together seamlessly to take care of them, and the entire floor had very little bloodstains and few remains. Probably because it's Monday today, all the kids have gone to kindergarten. I've noticed that the fourth floor is crowded on weekends when I often come here with Luo Xiaonian to window shop. I secretly felt relieved for the babies, but thinking about what would happen if they encountered such a disaster in kindergarten made me sigh endlessly.
The third floor was half men's clothing and half women's clothing. I thought we would encounter more zombies, but unexpectedly, we only found eight of them. We were already feeling very tired, yet still managed to summon the energy to put them out of their misery with a merciful shot.
"Let's take a break and walk again." Sun Zhe couldn't take it anymore. He was originally fat and panting like an ox.
Everyone leaned against the railing of the third floor skywell to rest and observe, then discovered a strange thing.
The first and second floors, which should have had the most zombies, were now extremely quiet. The zombies that they had previously thrown into the courtyard on the first floor were also nowhere to be seen, leaving only dirty bloodstains behind. Where did the zombies go?
