Chapter 12: The School is Haunted

Chapter Twelve: The School Campus Has Ghosts

"Xiao Tian, forget it. ^烽^火^中^文^网^?huo.' Dean Tian replied with a hint of emotion; 'Young people are always a bit rebellious.' 'Exactly, this old lady understands human emotions.' Ye Wen was very appreciative of Dean Tian. 'What did you say!' Tian Xin suddenly shouted loudly, twisting Ye Wen's ear; 'How dare you be rude to the dean, you're going against me! If I don't call your parents today, I won't let you off easy!' 'You want me to call them myself?' Ye Wen casually waved his hand. 'What do you mean by that?' Tian Xin asked angrily; 'Do you think I wouldn't know?' 'Sigh...' Ye Wen sighed deeply; 'I'm an orphan, raised without parents since childhood. My grandmother is nowhere to be found, and my grandfather left over a decade ago. I've almost always relied on begging for food to survive, where would I have parents? You say it's easy for me?' As he spoke, his eyes became teary. 'Really?' Tian Xin's voice softened; 'Teacher, you don't know...' Zhen Zhen stood up and said; 'He grew up eating leftovers from over a hundred families, and every day I would eat half of my meal and save the other half to send to him.' 'Yes, look at his clothes, they're all hand-me-downs from me.' Lai Xi's expression was sorrowful; 'In the winter, he didn't even have a thick coat. Every time I went to his house, he would be alone in a corner, shivering.' 'Ouyang Xue'er, is what they said true?' Tian Xin's eyes were already welling up with tears. 'Ye Wen wasn't lying.' Xue'er knew that these guys had started acting again."

"I'm sorry." Tian Xin said apologetically to Ye Wen; "I didn't mean to. I didn't think you would..." "Forget it" Ye Wen covered her face, afraid she would laugh out loud; "Sigh. Everything is fate, not up to people at all." As she walked away, passing by Dean Tian's office, she saw the old lady also with tears in her eyes, and couldn't help but sigh heavily, thinking that her acting skills had improved again. After Ye Wen left the classroom, Tian Xin was still feeling guilty when a voice interrupted her; "Um, Teacher Tian... Does Ye Wen count as leaving early?" "Huh?!" Tian Xin stared at Zhen Zhen who was trying to hold back laughter and suddenly shouted loudly; "Ye Wen, remember this!

A group of people were left behind, laughing and shouting somewhere. Ye Wen walked slowly to the back mountain of the teaching building, although it wasn't the first time a few people joked about this matter. But every time he thought of his own life experience, he couldn't help but feel a sense of emotion. Who doesn't want a warm home? Who would be willing to live in such a life? He played well with Lai Xi and others, perhaps also because he found the feelings of brothers and sisters among them. No matter how unruly Ye Wen was, no matter how fearless he was of ghosts, after all, he was still just an over ten-year-old child. Thinking about it, he inadvertently fell asleep.

"Ah-choo!" A gust of wind blew by, startling Ye Wen out of her sleep. "Whoa, it's so late?" Ye Wen opened her eyes to find the sky pitch black, and not a single light on in the school building. She slowly made her way down the hill, following the path she remembered. While she didn't feel anything unusual on the mountain, as soon as she entered the school grounds, Ye Wen felt an inexplicable chill run down her spine. "Is there really a ghost?" Ye Wen cautiously explored the campus, taking in the football field and stone benches, with white birch trees lining both sides. The wind blew gently, causing the leaves to rustle softly. Although not a single light was on in the school, the moonlight illuminated the entire scene, making everything sparkle. "Heh heh." A faint laugh echoed in Ye Wen's ear. Ye Wen didn't react, having decided to pretend she saw nothing as soon as she opened her Yin eyes. With her Yin eyes open, the campus took on a different appearance - it was still and quiet, but at least a hundred young men and women were frolicking about, either in groups of three or five, or alone, lost in thought. Ye Wen had at least seven or eight people surrounding her, and from their appearances, she could tell they had all died sudden deaths. Each person's neck had a deep, bloody ring around it. Some were even chatting and laughing as they played with their own severed heads. These people - or rather, ghosts - were all wearing school uniforms, stained red like blood.

"What's going on here?!" Ye Wen asked while pretending to look around without seeing anything, and at the same time walking forward. Suddenly, a group of ghosts appeared out of nowhere in a place not far from where they were standing. The number of ghosts had increased to over 200 before they even finished crossing the length of a football field.

"What's going on here? Why are there so many dead people?" Ye Wen asked.

"Hey, handsome guy, stop pretending! I know you can see us!" A female ghost said as she climbed onto Ye Wen's shoulder and then moved to his front. "Let's play together for a while before you leave."

"What's that? Sister, I'm busy." Ye Wen smiled wryly. "You're not busy for just a little while."

The female ghost beckoned with her hand, and several other ghosts gathered around.

"Since it's like this, let's play then." Ye Wen said with a bitter smile as he pointed towards the school gate. "Let's have a running competition to see who can get there first."

"Hmph!" The female ghost suddenly became angry. "Someone else tried to compete with us before, but they never came back! You think you can try again?"

"What?" Ye Wen was taken aback. "No way, someone actually used such a stupid method before?"

"How about we run towards the back mountain together instead?" Ye Wen suggested. "This time, I won't leave without coming back."

"The back mountain is not possible." The female ghost said. "That's someone else's territory, and we can't go there."

"Then where do you want to run?" Ye Wen asked, still stuck on the idea of running.

"That way," the female ghost pointed towards the other end of the football field. "Whoever gets there first wins!"

"Alright!" Ye Wen patted his chest. "I'm a champion runner, and you guys will definitely lose."

"Hmph, don't underestimate us ghosts!" The female ghost shouted as she lined up with several others. "We're all elites!"

"No need to talk more, let's start!" Ye Wen estimated that the distance from where they were standing to the school gate was over 100 meters.

"Ready, one, two, three!" The female ghost shouted, and then they all started running wildly towards the front. The other ghosts looked at each other and also started running, not wanting to fall behind.

As Ye Wen watched the ghosts run halfway, he smiled wryly to himself; "I really do have something important to attend to." He turned around and ran towards the school gate.

Behind him, the female ghost's concerned shout could still be heard: "Handsome guy, you're running in the wrong direction!"

Ignoring the security guard's questioning and suspicion, Ye Xun directly jumped over the railing and ran away frantically. Back in the small courtyard, Ye Xun wiped his sweat; "What kind of school is this?!" He exclaimed. Suddenly, Tian Huan rushed over with a terrified face and shouted at Ye Xun, "You scared me too!" Ye Xun's face turned dark. However, surprisingly, Tian Huan didn't run away this time, but instead kept rushing towards Ye Xun, occasionally using his small head to call out into the room, "Is someone coming?" Ye Xun had been with Tian Huan for over a decade and naturally understood what he was saying. Tian Huan opened his mouth wide, as if biting at the air, and then made a wronged expression. "Who dares to trespass on my territory?!" Ye Xun looked at Tian Huan, who was tattling that someone had bullied him. Ye Xun became extremely angry; Tian Huan was his own sandbag, not even his grandfather would borrow it, let alone outsiders. Because Zhen Zhen and the others wouldn't dare to hit Tian Huan, occasionally hitting him a few times, Tian Huan didn't dare tattle on them either. In fact, he was telling on himself, and he would still get beaten for it. "Get out of my house!" Ye Xun shouted loudly into the courtyard.
