Chapter 33: The Life-Stealing Spider

  Chapter 33: The Deadly Spider

The only thing that makes me feel lucky when I see this corpse is that it's a complete stranger, and I'm sure he's not from our team.

Taking a few deep breaths, plucking up the courage to move forward again, I started scraping off the other human cocoons. After enduring immense mental pressure and uncovering all six corpses, I finally let out a deep sigh of relief.

None of these dead people are from our team, and I don't know any of them.

Strange turn to look at Xiao Wu, can't figure out what's going on, who are these people, and why did Xiao Wu become like this?

Take another look at those things that are hanging and aren't human-shaped, don't want to bother with it anymore, think this place is probably the lair of some kind of creature, best to leave quickly.

Thinking of this, I bowed to the corpse in front of me and then went to pull Xiao Wu, but after pulling twice without moving, I anxiously shouted: "What are you still doing here? These aren't our people, let's go quickly!"

He didn't respond even after I called out to him several times, still muttering to himself in a low voice. I couldn't stay put any longer, the owner of this den could return at any moment, and now Xiao Wu was like an idiot, relying solely on me, it's definitely more harm than good.

In a fit of rage, I kicked him in the butt to wake him up, then inserted the dagger into my waist and held the flashlight in my mouth with both hands pulling him.

Suddenly I used force and felt something was wrong, this little five not only didn't get pulled up by me, but instead seemed to have shrunk back in a bit, what's going on? I took out my flashlight to take a look.

After taking a closer look, I felt that things were going to be difficult. Xiaowu's feet had somehow sunk into the ground and although it seemed like a slow process, it was clearly still ongoing.

I was thoroughly anxious, threw down the things in my hand and hugged his armpits with both hands, desperately pulling upwards. However, the force of the thing pulling him from below was extremely great, and it was impossible for me to do anything with my own strength. Then I swung my hand and gave him two slaps, trying to knock him awake.

These two hits seemed to have some effect, he was still not absolutely awake, but his mouth had stopped muttering. I hit him again and shouted: "Wake up quickly, if you don't leave now, you'll be dead..."

As soon as I finished speaking, I saw Xiao Wu's eyes widening in an instant, staring at something behind me with a terrified expression. I thought to myself: You can't be scared silly by these few dead people, can you? Your courage is not even comparable to mine, and yet you dare to come and rob the tomb?

He then thought again that it wasn't right, and immediately felt a chill behind him. He didn't dare turn his head to look, and slowly crouched down, wanting to feel for the flashlight and dagger on the ground.

It's not far from where I put it, as soon as I grabbed the dagger and flashlight, I felt a cool breeze blowing on my neck, immediately giving me goosebumps, and then it was like something was scratching my hair.

I was so scared that I almost shouted for my mother, gritted my teeth and turned around to raise the dagger to stab. After taking a closer look, I was stunned on the spot. There was no giant spider behind me. What was eerie was that one of the corpses I had pushed aside earlier had somehow walked over by itself and was now stretching out a hand wrapped in cobwebs towards me.

My god, have I encountered another freak? If this were really a monster, I would fight it even if I couldn't win. But the person in front of me was clearly someone who had just died recently. I held up my dagger and swung it several times, but I just couldn't bring myself to stab him.

Just as I was scolding myself for being a useless person, I felt that the dead body in front of me was a bit off. Although his eyes were open, there was no sign of any activity at all. The hand that reached out to grab mine remained still and unchanged, it didn't look like it was going to come back to life at all.

I was still in that strange state when I saw the silk threads on his body start to move, and then they became fatter and fatter, finally bursting open with a 'plop' sound. A group of black spiders, about the size of a child's fist, crawled out, instantly turning his white body into black, and I don't know how many there were, crawling out endlessly in dense clusters.

I took a look and thought something was seriously wrong, this corpse's interior was actually empty, inside had long been taken over by spiders as their nest, just thinking about it made me feel uncomfortable all over, I quickly turned around wanting to continue pulling Xiao Wu, but when I turned back, I only saw that Xiao Wu's entire body, the exposed parts were only his two arms and shoulders.

This time I was really panicked, wanting to escape but couldn't bear to abandon him, and when I was sweating profusely, I saw Xiao Wu staring with his eyes wide open and mouth agape, saying: "Run, run fast, run..."

I burst into tears and cried out: "Let's try again, I can't just let you die like this."

After finishing, I went to pull his hands again, but this was just a fluke and had no effect at all. Xiaowu didn't know if it was a rebound or what, but he grabbed my waist with both hands and exerted himself, throwing me aside. I got up and saw that the spiders that had run out of the corpse were crawling onto his body one after another, competing to drill into his mouth.

"Ah......ah......" I could no longer bear the anger and fear, and let out a heart-wrenching scream, looking at Xiao Wu's extremely painful expression, my heart felt like it was being cut by a knife.

But now it's too late to say anything, the only thing I should do is to escape quickly. I shone my flashlight and found that the corpses I had pushed aside earlier began to sway, I understood that the spiders inside their bodies started crawling out.

Time was limited and I couldn't think too much, so I turned around and rushed towards the entrance of the cave. As the space got smaller and smaller, I changed from standing upright to bending my waist, and finally knelt down on the ground and crawled forward. However, the exit upwards was very steep, although there were some tree roots that could be used for support, but it was not very secure after all. With great difficulty, I climbed halfway up, but suddenly lost my grip and slid straight back down.

Looking back, the black swarm of spiders was about to arrive, and for the second time, I climbed up again. My hands were bleeding from grasping so hard, but I finally felt like I was almost at the exit. Just as I thought there was some hope, the tree root in my hand broke off once more, and I slid down again.

I cursed loudly and flipped my body over, picked up the dagger and swung it around wildly everywhere, in a hurry I forgot that below was a group of spiders, this move was completely useless.

Because my body was very unbalanced, I wasn't careful and the spider didn't get cut, but instead I slashed my own left arm, and in an instant hot blood flowed out. I almost suffocated myself to death. No wonder Zhou Huan called me a waste, now it seems she was being relatively polite.

A swarm of spiders was moving upwards while I was moving downwards, and it seemed like we were about to collide. I thought to myself that I didn't want to be alive when these things drilled into my stomach. I gritted my teeth, raised my knife, and prepared to end it all quickly. It wasn't that I was particularly brave; anyone in this situation would probably do the same thing.

Just as the dagger in my hand was about to be raised, I discovered a strange phenomenon. The spiders that crawled up to my feet surprisingly all bypassed me, turned around and went back, densely packed spiders seemed to have reached a fork in the road, directly splitting into two paths and leaving me stranded in the middle.

What the...?! I'm both relieved and curious, is the meat on me really that bad to eat? Last time those dumplings ignored me, now these weird spiders aren't interested either?

Lucky to have reacted and not escaped, the body just fell to the bottom of the hole and immediately turned around to continue climbing up, unable to grasp the tree roots, inserted the dagger into the soil to borrow strength, just now in a hurry and didn't think of this method.

Didn't even care about the injured arm and the blood flowing from it, just desperately kept moving upwards, seeing the opening of the cave right in front, when suddenly a rustling sound came from behind, thought to myself: Could it be that this group of pests has changed their minds again and decided to eat me after all?

There was no time to look back, I exerted myself and crawled out of the hole. The sky outside had already turned completely dark. I ran a few steps in a random direction, turned around and shone my light over there, only to see some thick, chopstick-like claws sticking out from the entrance of the hole. Next thing I knew, an enormous spider crawled out of the hole.

That spider's body is like a big black pot, I simply don't dare to believe my eyes, this thing has completely exceeded the logic of nature, theoretically it shouldn't exist, could it be that the ancestor of those spiders has arrived?

I didn't have time to think about it anymore, I just held up my flashlight and ran wildly in the woods without any direction, completely unable to distinguish east, south, west or north. All I could think of was to get rid of that spider ancestor as soon as possible. If I got caught, wouldn't he crush all my bones?

While running and turning back to shine the flashlight, I found that within its range, it hadn't followed up. Just as I was about to breathe a sigh of relief, I felt my body collide with a soft and fluffy thing. Curious, I quickly checked and found that this time I was thoroughly screwed.

Because I ran extremely urgently, I unexpectedly crashed into a super-large spider web. Without thinking, I knew how this web came to be. Each thread of the web was almost as thick as chopsticks and had great stickiness. My entire body was stuck on it, now only having the strength to struggle, but no matter what, I couldn't get down.

After struggling for a while, I knew it was no use wasting my energy anymore. In this situation, if no one helped me, I absolutely couldn't get down by myself. At that moment, I heard the sound of rustling leaves coming from behind me on the ground, and I estimated that the big spider had already arrived and was ready to enjoy its over 100-pound dinner - me.

After so many close calls, I'm not as afraid as I used to be. I thought to myself: what reason will I use this time to survive? Then I started laughing bitterly again, thinking that my idea was particularly ridiculous and childish.

As the sound behind me got closer and closer, I lay on the spider web and shouted: "Come on, ugly eight, see if your teeth are hard or my bones are hard. If you accidentally drop your teeth, I'm absolutely not responsible... Don't try to scare me, it's useless. I should have died a long time ago."

I suddenly felt relieved, shouting loudly and wildly there, after a while my heart felt much better, and this heroic sacrifice feeling was actually not bad.

I waited a bit longer and found that the spider still hadn't come to attack me, I thought it was strange. Just as I was about to calm down and listen carefully, a tired female voice came from behind me: "Oh my, I really didn't expect it, you're actually a straight man. Is it because I'm so ugly? Do they call me 'ugly eight'?
