Chapter 12: Into the Perilous Situation

  I just wanted to take another look at what was on the inner wall, when I heard the beam downstairs shouting in a loud voice: "I said, what's inside? Can't you see?"

  "There's nothing, let alone treasure, not even a single hair was seen, it's just a tree hole that turns downward." I casually replied and prepared to come down, this hole can't be figured out what it is for, but there's no need to stay any longer.

  So I moved the leg in the cave out and prepared to jump down directly. Just as I turned my back to the entrance, I suddenly felt a strange suction force coming from the cave. My body hadn't sat steadily before being sucked into the cave by the force.

  His body stuck to the wall of the hole and began to slide down rapidly, fortunately the corner below was an arc shape, if it were a right angle I would have died with my head down without a doubt.

  After turning the corner, the speed slowed down, and I didn't know where the flashlight had gone. I couldn't see anything in front of me. I was trying to flip my body over, stretching out my hands in front of me, so that if there were any obstacles, my body could stop. Finally, after sliding for an unknown distance, the smooth surface beneath me seemed to turn into land, and only when my body came to a complete stop did my hands not touch anything.

  I started to get particularly nervous, with not a single ray of light in front of me. I quickly felt around, wanting to see if the flashlight had also slid down with me, but everything my hands touched was just sandy ground, and I couldn't feel anything else.

  He stretched out his hand to touch the back of his backpack, fortunately it was still there. He quickly sat up and took off his backpack, opened it and rummaged through it, wanting to see if there were any spare flashlights inside. After searching for half a day, he felt that except for a bundle of ropes, only a few steamed buns were left. Only then did he remember that spare flashlights and the like were quite heavy, and Liangzi was carrying them.

  I didn't give up and searched around again, and to my surprise, I actually found my phone. I quickly turned on the screen and adjusted the brightness to the highest level. Standing up, I shone it around me, and what entered my line of sight was still a passageway. The height couldn't be seen clearly, but the width was estimated to be about two meters, so people could walk through here without any obstacles. On both sides of the wall were those wax-like things again. I reached out to touch them and felt very cool, but it's unclear what they are. However, this underground passageway seems to have been artificially constructed without a doubt.

  The light from my phone can't shine very far, and I don't dare to walk into the darkness ahead. I think that Liangzi Liu Bao and the others will definitely try to find a way to come in and rescue me after they see me fall down. If I pull on a rope outside the tree trunk, it should still be possible to get out by pulling on the rope.

  I've never been alone in a space like this before, although I know that outside it's broad daylight and someone will come to rescue me soon, but I'm still scared to death. I lean against the wall, my hand constantly pressing on my phone to keep the screen lit up, taking random photos everywhere, afraid that something might come out and attack me.

  I waited stupidly for about half an hour, my legs were numb from standing and there was no movement in the direction of the entrance. I don't know what situation they are in outside. I walked a few steps towards the entrance and shouted several times but got no response. It's reasonable to say that they can't just leave me unattended, right?

  The phone rang with a "ding ding" sound, I looked at the screen and saw that there was only one grid of electricity left. Feeling that there shouldn't be any danger in this passage, I turned off the screen to save some power first, then sat on the ground leaning against the wall and scolded Liangzi and Liu Bao's whole family.

  At this moment when I was both angry and scared, I suddenly felt as if someone had pulled my hair from the top of my head. I quickly turned on my phone's light, lifted my head to look up, but there was nothing. I silently cursed myself for being too tense and having hallucinations.

  But just as I put down my phone, my hair was pulled again. This time the feeling was very clear, like someone was pulling my hair. I immediately broke out in a cold sweat and stood up against the wall, taking two steps back. I raised my phone to take another look, and just as it passed over my head, I saw something like a small black hand reaching down from the darkness. It quickly pulled my phone upwards, and then my phone was swaying gently towards the depths of the passageway before disappearing from view.

  "Damn it..." If this were on the street, I would have definitely shouted "Catch the thief!" But before I could even react to what was happening, I felt something wrap around my waist and suddenly my body was lifted into the air and pulled up onto the passageway. I didn't know what was pulling me as I was dragged forward.

  I didn't notice before, but now I feel that there should be many things like horizontal beams above this passage. The 'unknown object' holding me seems to be jumping forward, and I'm being swung around so much that my head is spinning, and my brain immediately hits the wall of the cave several times. I feel like I must have already cracked my skull open and am bleeding profusely.

  I was dragged along for a long time, I felt that the passage should not be just this one, and it turned several corners in the middle, I don't know where it leads to. Now even if Liangzi and others came in, they would probably not be able to find me. Even if they found me, I don't know what my head was hit into now, whether I can still be recognized or not is uncertain.

  Finally came to a stop, the rope that was pulling me also loosened and I fell heavily to the ground, my head spinning before losing consciousness.

  During this time, I vaguely had a dream. In the dream, I saw Liangzi and Liu Bao sitting on the kang in the village chief's house drinking wine. The two of them were drinking while cutting meat from the table to eat. As I walked over, I almost got scared to death. On the table was Lao Lu's upper body, like a rolling pin without arms. However, Lao Lu was smiling foolishly at me and mumbling unclearly in his mouth, seemingly saying: "Eat some, you also eat some!"

  I was startled awake immediately, and as soon as I sat up, I felt a tickle in my throat. Next thing I knew, I spat out a mouthful of blood, which made me feel slightly better. That dream had scared me so much that I was drenched in sweat all over. I really don't understand why this happened. Could it be that Liangzi and the others encountered some danger outside?

  After resting for a few seconds, I came to my senses. I still haven't escaped yet. I couldn't see anything around me and didn't know where I was. What kind of monster brought me here? It could jump on top of the passageway, which means it shouldn't be too big in size. However, I weigh over 150 pounds, so carrying me while jumping isn't an easy task.

  I stood quietly for a while and felt that there was no movement, this time I really didn't dare to make any noise, even my phone was snatched away, in such an environment without lighting equipment, even if there is a road, I can't get out, let alone the monster hiding somewhere, and obviously not just one, I will be attacked at any time.

  At this time, I suddenly felt a headache to death. I touched it and it was okay, no deformation. I also touched the backpack on my body, and it was still there. I took off the backpack and prepared to eat a bun. It's unknown what time it is now, probably the sky has already darkened.

  I reached into my backpack to find a steamed bun, but instead I touched something hard. As soon as I grabbed it, I felt a glimmer of hope - a lighter! There was actually a lighter in this bag! I quickly took it out and lit it, shining the flame around me. The light didn't illuminate very far, and I got the feeling that we weren't in a passageway anymore. Probably some kind of stone room or something, since within the range of the lighter's beam, I couldn't see any walls.

  Just as I withdrew my hand, I suddenly felt that there was something on the ground beside me, but before I could take a closer look, I felt that the lighter was scorching hot and hurriedly turned it off to let it cool down for a while.

  After a while, I touched it and found that it was no longer hot. So I lit it again to illuminate the last thing I saw earlier. As soon as I did, I let out an "ah" and almost threw away the lighter. I turned off the lighter and thought to myself, "No way, no way, I must have seen it wrong. How could there be a dead person next to me?"

  Once again, I lit up the flashlight and was shocked to find that there really was a dead body, with my bag on him. I felt like my head was going to explode. How could there be someone else besides me? As the light illuminated the scene, I saw that it was a modern person just like me, wearing a light blue windbreaker, clearly having died recently, covered in blood like a car accident victim, with a face that was almost unrecognizable.

  Although I was scared to death by this dead person, I still felt lucky that it wasn't one of us. We were all wearing the farm clothes borrowed from the village chief, which clearly didn't match the deceased in front of us, but who could he be? What kind of place is this? How did he end up dying here? This series of unknowns was driving me crazy.

  I originally wanted to see if there was anything useful on him, but every time I saw this miserable state, I felt a wave of nausea. Reluctantly, I turned off the flashlight and slowly backed away, trying to get as far away from him as possible. Just after taking a few steps back, I felt something icy cold to the touch, and my scalp exploded in shock as I realized I had touched another person's hand again.

  This time I directly shouted out loud, what's going on with him, how did he end up in a pile of dead bodies again? I just feel like I'm collapsing, as if the whole world has abandoned me and I'm helpless. If I had known it would be like this, it would have been better to let the snake bite me to death earlier, at least that would have been quicker.

  But grumbling is useless, since I'm alive I have to think of a way to save myself. I gritted my teeth and closed my eyes, starting on the second corpse, trying to find something useful, thinking of a way to find the exit as soon as possible.

  After my hands were all bloody, I unexpectedly touched something similar to a trekking pole. When I lit it up with the lighter, it was indeed a trekking pole. I thought to myself, could these people be trekkers who were killed and dragged here by that invisible monster? As soon as I thought of this, I started panicking again. If my guess is correct, then this place might be where they store food, and those monsters may come back at any time.

  It's pointless to worry about that now, I once again took off my clothes and pants and tied them to this crutch to make a simple torch. After all, it's already the second time I've stripped naked to save my life, and no one will come to see me here anyway, so getting out of here as soon as possible is the priority.

  The village head lent us some good clothes, and after the torch was lit, I saw that there were four corpses around me, including the previous ones. They were all wearing the same windbreaker, and each person was covered in blood and flesh, their deaths were simply too horrible to look at.

  The light of the torch is much brighter than that of a lighter. I circled around and found it was a circular stone chamber with two passageways on each side, but I didn't know which one to take, so I randomly chose a direction and started sprinting, wanting to see if I could find a way out before the torch went out.
