Chapter 24: Escaping Death (Part 1)

Chapter 24: Escaping Death (Part 1)

Zhang Fan observed the surroundings, and his own position was in the middle of the room. The layout of the room looked like a hospital ward. There were many monitoring devices placed on both sides of the bed. After scanning the room, Zhang Fan found a strange place - the wall opposite the bed had nothing on it. Of course, not putting anything on the wall wasn't unusual in itself. But what was weird was that there were no windows in the room, and ventilation relied on special air ducts on the ceiling. The door to the room was near the head of the bed, so normally, people would put essential equipment or large items against the wall in a corner where they wouldn't often move around. However, in this room, things seemed crowded, yet the wall was completely empty.

For this situation, Zhang Fan thought of a possibility. That is, there was something wrong with the wall. Zhang Fan knew that there was a high-end technology product, which was a glass wall body. Normally, this kind of glass wall body was used in observation rooms. Because the two sides of the wall saw completely different things. People outside the wall looked at the wall and it was a completely transparent glass that could see everything inside clearly. While people inside the wall only saw an ordinary wall surface. If such a wall body only had this function, then it would not be considered a high-end technology new product. It also had many functions, such as displaying the temperature of the human body in the room on the observation surface, bones and veins. There were many other functions that could be adjusted to what you needed by making necessary settings on the control panel.

Zhang Fan is now even more certain that on the other side of the wall, someone must be staring at his reaction through the wall. Zhang Fan smiled slightly, although he was captured by mistake, but with his skills, it shouldn't be too difficult to escape, right? Now what needs to be done is to see what kind of tricks they want to play. What kind of mystery does this place hold?

Although it's true that using consciousness waves to detect through walls would affect its usage, but at such a far distance, it should be said that using consciousness to detect is still a more feasible method. Closing his eyes, Zhang Fan let his whole body relax, and before any urgent danger appeared, he could still let himself idle around a bit. Zhang Fan couldn't help but admire himself, always smiling, and still able to face things with the most relaxed attitude.

The consciousness wave was slowly emitted towards the wall, although Zhang Fan could be sure that there must be someone staring at him behind the wall, but how many people were inside? What kind of abilities did they have? Zhang Fan himself still had no bottom line, being cautious was always better, only with caution can one sail a boat for ten thousand years.

As Zhang Fan's consciousness wave had just penetrated the wall, he felt that he had encountered several conscious bodies, and it seemed that there were a few people on the other side of the wall. Grabbing one of the conscious bodies, Zhang Fan locked him in as his target. At this point, Zhang Fan was not worried about using his consciousness wave to cause any damage to the people inside; after all, he didn't need to leave them as witnesses, and being able to eliminate one person would relatively reduce a threat for him.

Without any reservations, Zhang Fan's consciousness wave directly invaded the consciousness body. However, after invading, Zhang Fan didn't discover anything either. The recognition sea within that consciousness body was empty and devoid of anything, this kind of empty feeling was what Zhang Fan encountered most often when using his spiritual force to control recently. Facing this situation, Zhang Fan felt somewhat frustrated, in this case, the plan to explore the situation within the base from the consciousness body had failed.

Zhang Fan did not give up, and once again swept his consciousness wave over the brain domain of that conscious body. However, the result was still the same as before, with nothing gained. Zhang Fan let out a slight sigh, withdrew his consciousness wave from the brain domain of that conscious body, and probed outward in another direction.

It seemed that there was only one consciousness in the room, and Zhang Fan's consciousness wave had been circling around it for a long time without finding any other consciousness. Had everyone just left? Where would they go? Before Zhang Fan could find an answer, the door to his room opened. As soon as he heard the sound of the door opening, Zhang Fan immediately retracted his scattered consciousness waves, and although his eyes were closed, he listened carefully to the movements at the door.

Judging from the footsteps, two people have entered. One of them is larger in build and not light in weight, which can be inferred from the sound of his footsteps after entering the door. The other person is likely a woman, as her footsteps are not only much lighter than the other person's but also more rhythmic.

"Don't pretend to be asleep, we all know you're not sleeping." Zhang Fan could feel the slightly heavier man walking to his bedside, and the voice was very familiar, it was the same voice that Gu Kou had heard. Another woman stood beside Zhang Fan's bed.

Zhang Fan also opened his eyes upon hearing the voice, and what fell into his sight was a tall and muscular middle-aged man whose gaze was coldly fixed on Zhang Fan. Seeing that Zhang Fan had opened his eyes, he couldn't help but let out a cold laugh: "Mr. Zhang Fan, don't you still want to cooperate with us? Why bother going through all this trouble!"

"Cooperate?" Zhang Fan snorted: "Locking me up like this, I'll cooperate? Your thinking is really childish!"

The man's mouth twitched slightly at Zhang Fan's answer, and a cold smile spread across his face. "You're quite good at talking your way out of things! I'll see who you can fool next time! Heh heh, Mr. Zhang, you can't imagine it, but we don't need your willing cooperation. As I said before, whether you cooperate or not, you will still have to cooperate." The man's last words were directed at the young woman standing beside Zhang Fan's bed. That woman was Ouni. Zhang Fan had already seen Ouni when he answered the man's question, but because of her current situation, which made it difficult for him to understand what was going on, he could only pretend not to know her.

"Alright, Mr. Lanzens," replied Ouni, "Cell number one, and tomorrow morning, are you ready to go to operating room three?"
