Chapter 15
The bald man's affair made Youyou feel uneasy. The time that followed seemed to pass very quickly, and Du Jiajun later picked up her bag and said she was going back. It wasn't until then that Youyou raised her head to gaze out the window at the sky, night had already fallen, a dense darkness congealed in her pupils, the city seemed to have sunk into its deepest tomb, only the lights flickering faintly in the distance.
She sent Du Jiajun down to the large hall on the first floor.
Two people bid each other farewell, waving their hands. Jiajun walked to the hospital entrance and hailed a taxi to leave. Youyou watched her figure disappear from view, and when he turned around, he suddenly felt a chill run down his spine, his heart beating rapidly for no reason, and his blood surging through his veins.
This feeling...
She suddenly had a headache like a toothache, and her right eyelid began to twitch restlessly. Superstitious old people often said that if the left eyelid jumped it was auspicious, but if the right one did, it was ominous. Thinking of this, her right eyelid twitched even more violently.
A faint sense of foreboding shrouded her. She felt someone behind her. That person made a strange noise, very sharp, like bones colliding, and like teeth chattering. In short, it was extremely uncomfortable to hear.
She slowly turned around. The moment she saw the bald man, her heart suddenly jumped to her throat. The bald man was standing in the dark night outside the door, and the light from the hall faintly shone on his body. His shadow appeared vague and transparent, as if it could be penetrated by light. The gray-black night flowed vaguely along his eyes, flowing across his entire face.
His eyes were shrouded in a narrow, elongated shadow, making it impossible to discern his gaze. Yet, Youyou still felt the piercing chill emanating from him, and she couldn't help but hold her breath tightly, standing there for three or four seconds before hastily walking towards the elevator.
Did that bald guy follow us?
She faintly heard the sound of bones colliding, following closely behind her. She quickened her pace, almost dashing into the elevator. The elevator was empty, and she frantically pressed the close-door button. As the doors slowly closed, the bald man appeared outside...
The elevator reached the fourth floor. As soon as the door opened, Youyou rushed out, and the corridor was cold and empty, with only a few patients and nurses. The pale light crushed the desolate and dangerous atmosphere, evenly coating the floor and walls.
She quickly walked back to her own ward and closed the door.
Won't the bald man come after her? Youyou thought with a pounding heart, she turned on the light but quickly turned it off again. She thought that if the room was lit up, the bald man would know she was in the room. She leaned against the door, afraid to hear anyone's footsteps coming over clearly.
The lights went out, and the dark territory in front of her eyes opened up like a vast expanse. The air was like liquid black seawater flowing around her feet, wave after wave rising to her ankles. A chill rose from the soles of her feet, slowly wrapping itself around her bones.
She held her breath and waited quietly, waiting for something terrible or nothing to happen.
