Chapter 23
She picked an empty seat at random.
There were not many passengers on the bus. Next to her sat a mother and her young son, who was about the same age as Leizi. He had been playing with his hat in his hand, but after the bus started moving, he kept turning his head to look at Youyou.
Something attracted him. His big eyes shone brightly like flower petals on a summer day.
She made a mischievous face at the little boy, the kind of face that anyone would make by stretching their mouth and eyelids as far as possible, distorting even the most beautiful face into a monstrous one. Of course, she was just teasing the little boy and didn't expect him to be scared, his face turned pale, and an expression of fear emerged.
Before he could cry, the little boy's hat in his hand suddenly flew out of the window and was quickly thrown behind by a passing bus, where it would be crushed by countless wheels. The little boy saw that his beloved hat couldn't be picked up again and began to wail.
His mother comforted him by promising to buy him a new one, while also blaming him for not holding onto the hat and letting the wind blow it away.
The little boy rubbed his eyes with both hands, crying non-stop. His big, teary eyes suddenly looked at Youyou again. He complained to his mother that it was a little girl in a yellow raincoat who threw his hat out the window. She was also staring at him fiercely, which made him feel very scared.
"Alright, stop crying, it's embarrassing." Mom wiped away the little boy's tears and looked around at the other passengers in the car. There were only a few people on board, so where was the little girl in the yellow raincoat?
The little boy didn't stop crying until he got off the bus.
