Chapter 6: Hallucination?

  Chapter 6: Hallucination?

What happened? To be honest, I don't understand this question either. They say that in a haunted house, I encountered a monster and my sister suddenly turned into a white bone spirit? Will they send me to a mental hospital? Apart from the wound on my hand and that postal book, it's probably impossible to find any convincing evidence to prove that I really encountered danger.

However, I still managed to recount everything that had happened from start to finish in detail to the police officer. The police officer repeated my words from time to time and recorded them in detail.

Finally, he closed his notebook and said to me: "Based on my experience, it's possible that you ingested some hallucinogenic substances while eating or drinking with them. However, the specific situation still needs further verification. Especially those three people you mentioned, we will investigate their details through the school. If you remember anything, contact me immediately, my surname is He. Take a good rest." After finishing speaking, he stood up and prepared to leave.

An illusion? It's a bit hard to believe. The commotion that afternoon, the life-and-death struggle, were all just an illusion? I lift my left hand, and the gauze is still wrapped around it. Looking at my right hand, the fingerprint on my wrist has faded, but I can still see the injury that was inflicted. Just as he opens the door to leave, I suddenly remember the mailbox. Ah, yes! The mailbox can prove that all this really happened! My palm had been nailed to it by a dagger.

"Where's the mail?" I raised my head with effort and asked loudly.

The police officer stopped in his tracks, turned around and came back. "There are bloodstains on the envelope, it has been sent for examination. If it's a criminal case, the envelope is an important piece of evidence, the police will take good care of it."

I let out a long breath and slowly lay back into my original position.

Life in the hospital is dull. For someone who has difficulty moving, it seems like there's no other way to pass the time except for eating and sleeping. These days I haven't seen my older sister, I don't know if the police have notified her or not. My younger brother hasn't been home for several days, but my older sister isn't worried, with a sister like this, who knows whether it's good luck or bad!

"Xiao Yu..." Just thinking of her, a loud shout came from outside the door, with a volume that could shatter glass.

  "Here, here......"

My older sister walked in with a big afro, wearing a Hawaiian-style dress and carrying a bunch of bananas. My sister and I shouldn't be considered orphans, since we've been living off the savings our parents left behind after they went missing five years ago. Two years ago, my sister graduated from college and became a journalist, and I followed her as she traveled to different cities for work. She changed jobs countless times, and I changed schools just as many times. This lifestyle has made me unconventional and fond of adventure. I even think it's a treasure in life. Because every time we enter a new environment, we meet new friends and experience new stories. Just like the saying from Forrest Gump: "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what flavor you're gonna get." Waiting for the next chocolate to appear is really interesting. However, encountering danger is not something anyone wants. Take this current situation, if I can just pass through it safely, that would be great. Upon careful reflection, getting to know someone for only two hours and then following them to a stranger's house is really too careless. Once bitten, twice shy; I estimate that from now on, I won't easily trust strangers again.

"Where have you been running these days? My phone was out of service, and I just recharged it today after receiving my salary. As soon as I turned it on, the police station called, scaring me to death! How many days have you been staying here?"

My elder sister's opening remarks, which were like a string of firecrackers, left me dizzy and disoriented. For the time being, I didn't know where to start. However, she was also quite oblivious! If one day I ended up dead on the street, I reckon it would still take the police knocking on her door for her to realize that I had gone missing.

My older sister was peeling a banana while gossiping with me about the past few days. Either it was her boyfriend not understanding her, or her boss being stingy, or Mr. Zhang next door having an affair behind his wife's back... Maybe from the moment she walked in 1.5 minutes ago, she had already forgotten the question of why I was lying in bed.

Just then, the phone rang. My older sister picked it up and, putting on a sweet voice, said "Hello, who is this?" in a sugary tone that made me almost throw up.

"Oh, okay." Putting down the phone, my older sister collected her exaggerated expression and said seriously to me: "Just now it was a police officer with the surname He who called. He wants me to go to his office at 10 o'clock to discuss your case."

Haha, the case has made progress! I guess they found that villa and also that fat girl and rich second generation. The most hateful is that big monkey, although he didn't take action, but their dragging me there was a scam.

Soon, my elder sister returned from the police station. Contrary to my expectations, there was no triumphant look on her face, but instead she looked sorrowful, with two red-rimmed eyes.
