Chapter 67: Fengdu (Three)

Chapter 1: The Haunted Forest of Demons (Part 1)

  The flesh was eaten away

This was indeed the most absurd thing Ding Lingxiu had experienced in his entire life.

"Raksha big brother, won't our physical bodies be digested in your belly?" Ding Lingyu asked softly.

Rakshasa glared with her dark green eyes, baring her teeth and speaking somewhat impatiently:

"You two stop being so suspicious, your physical bodies are still in their original form inside my belly"

  "I understand."

Ding Lingxiu nodded silently, after all, he was currently in the underworld, his spiritual energy was completely suppressed, and he had no choice but to follow arrangements.

Two people followed Luo Ye to Fengdu, and they didn't know how big Fengdu was. Ding Lingyu could only judge from the scene he saw when he looked out from Bo Mingtai in the Two Realms Mountain earlier, and it was impossible to estimate the size of this city. The entire city seemed like a sea of cities in the underground world, stretching endlessly. Although they could feel the prosperity of Fengdu from Bo Mingtai earlier, when they really entered, they couldn't help but be stunned.

Inside the city, red lanterns shone brightly, and carriages and horses thronged the streets. The comers and goers were all ghosts wrapped in thick clothes, most of whom were human-shaped and extremely short, somewhat like dwarfs from the mortal world, with poor mental states, looking listless and depressed.

"Are these all the lingering spirits of people who have died?" asked Ding Lingxiu.

  Rakshasa nodded and said:

"That's right, the residents living in Fengdu are all unwilling souls who do not want to reincarnate. They live and work in peace here and do not have to worry about death, they wish to stay here forever."

Ding Lingxu furrowed his brow, thinking that since all the souls here were dead and could live a life similar to that of the mortal world, wouldn't it lead to more and more souls staying in Fengdu and not reincarnating? Moreover, these souls would not die, so trying to restrict them with laws would be even more difficult than in the mortal world.

He thought of this and felt suspicious, and couldn't help but ask:

"But Raksha elder brother, if it's like that, won't all the wandering souls choose to stay in Fengdu and there will be no reincarnation?"

Rakshasa burst out laughing again, saying with a sly tone:

"Hmm, do you think the life of a ghost in the underworld is that great? Although we can live normally here and have all sorts of entertainment just like in the human world, we don't sleep, eat or breathe. We only rely on absorbing the yin energy from the underworld to prevent our souls from dispersing. Moreover, all ghosts who reside in the underworld have gone through the trials of the eighteen layers of hell, and their seven emotions and six desires are almost completely worn out. Without these emotions and desires, what's the point of this life?"

  "No wonder." Ding Lingxiu nodded.

It's no wonder that these lost souls look like they're still alive but their spirits are weak and frail, looking sickly.

"But even so, these departed souls are not honest, so the laws of this purgatory are also more severe than those in the human world. The most serious crimes will be sentenced to life imprisonment, forever and ever, never to be reincarnated."

Ding Lingxiu's heart trembled as he listened, eternal life and eternal death, these words sounded ordinary, but it was different from the indefinite imprisonment in the mortal world. At least that could be ended with one death. Even if not dead, at least it was waiting for death. But for those who had already died, being sentenced to indefinite imprisonment in the underworld meant facing endless emptiness and torture, without any thoughts. The pain brought by the eternal loneliness was more unbearable than death.

They followed Rakshasa for a while, and then Rakshasa folded her wings and stopped. She began to rummage through her pockets and after a long time, she pulled out a string of small objects that made a rustling sound.

Ding Lingxiu looked carefully and found that it was actually a bunch of keys, and what he held in his hand seemed to be a car key. However, when Ding Lingxiu looked around, he found that although there were cars passing by on this road, he didn't see any car parked at the location where Luo Sha stopped.

  "Beep beep——"

With a crisp sound of the car key, a cool and domineering old-fashioned sedan slowly appeared on the side of the street. They could clearly see that the layer of eerie light around the sedan gradually dimmed, and as the light faded away, the entire body of the car finally emerged.

This sedan features a long hood, short front overhang and long rear overhang design style. The long wheelbase creates a spacious interior space, looking extraordinary. The body is painted in bronze color, while the engine cover is matte black, and the 10-spoke designed wheels are very luxurious.

"Go, get in." Luo Ze waved his hand at them, and the two walked into this luxury sedan.

"Raksha big brother, can this luxury car turn invisible?" Zhang Shanyi asked.

Rakshasa let out a chuckle, unsure if it was due to her own satisfaction or mocking Zhang Shanyi's ignorance.

As the engine roared to life, the luxury car began speeding down the spacious highway.

Ding Lingxiu looked out of the car window and found that Luo Sha was driving on a high viaduct. Earlier at Bo Mingtai, Ding Lingxiu hadn't seen clearly the air traffic route mentioned by Luo Sha. Now looking up from the bridge, he saw that there were indeed many flying saucer-like vehicles shuttling through the air in an orderly manner, without any signs of congestion.

They are now on the elevated bridge, and the approach to the bridge is like a giant python standing upright in a cluster of trees. Looking out from the bridge, the entire elevated bridge stretches out in all directions, winding and twisting. The cars flow above it, but because they are moving too fast, they can only become a blurry shadow, fleeting in an instant. The whole city seems to be like the red-light district of a big city at night, but when Ding Lingxu first arrived, he wouldn't feel anything out of the ordinary, but after staying for a long time, he would start to feel very uncomfortable all over his body. This kind of red makes people's hair stand on end, always feeling chilly and lacking warmth.

The car had been driving for a long time, and when Ding Lingxiu and Zhang Shanyi were drowsy, the car suddenly stopped, and the brakes made a very long and sharp sound that sent chills down their spines.

"Get off." Luo Sha suddenly shouted.

Ding Lingxiu felt a bit bewildered, thinking to himself that he must have done something wrong, why did Luocha suddenly become so fierce. He glanced at Zhang Shanyi, who didn't seem to care much, but slowly got up from his seat.

Ding Lingxiu carefully got out of the car and gently closed the door.

Luo Cha walked out of the driver's cabin, his originally ferocious and frightening face now extremely solemn and cold, making people tremble with fear.

Raksha pouted, tilted her head to look at the two of them, and put her hands behind her back. The two of them didn't realize what was happening and were also inexplicably staring at Raksha. Suddenly, Raksha let out a loud roar:

"Get them both in for me."

Before the words had fallen, four extremely ugly monsters suddenly appeared on both sides. They didn't know when they had crept up behind the two of them and firmly clamped their arms from behind in a state of complete unpreparedness. Almost simultaneously, Ding Ling and his companion felt a chill on their wrists as two very heavy handcuffs were locked onto their hands.

These four demons have a small bony horn on their foreheads, looking very much like humans, but their bodies are dark red and covered with scaly skin that seems to glow. Ding Lingxiu recognized the demon at a glance - it was a ghost soldier, a low-ranking worker in the underworld, who had no hearing and communicated only through special gestures, so they would only listen to orders from their superiors and obey them unconditionally, but others could not deceive or manipulate them.

"Raksha big brother, what do you mean by this? Why suddenly want to catch us?" Zhang Shanyi asked.

"Yes, Brother Luo Xie, what crime have we committed? Why are you suddenly arresting us?" Ding Lingxiu also looked at Luo Xie in confusion and raised his voice.

Rakshasa gazed at them with a cold smile and said:

"Hmph, why did you catch them? Their crimes are numerous, I have been ordered to wait for the two of you for a long time. Follow me to see King Yan, let you two die with understanding."

Are you kidding me? Ding Ling's scalp exploded, and he thought to himself that it was all over. It seemed that he had been completely deceived by this Raksha earlier. What intact flesh and blood? Listening to the Raksha's tone, his own flesh and blood might have really been eaten by it, and now they were probably long gone without a trace.

Damn it, Ding Lingxu never thought that this trip to the underworld would likely be a one-way road.

These four little ghosts may look small and thin, but their strength is astonishingly great. Although the hand that Ding Ling was holding onto his shoulder seemed to be just resting on it, he still felt a cracking in his bones, making him feel numb with pain.

The ghostly figure pushed the two people towards a large palace, this magnificent and ancient-style palace was situated among many skyscrapers, looking somewhat out of place and strangely eerie.

The dark and majestic temple emitted an eerie, inky glow, while the small path leading to it was also pitch-black, like a giant mouth of evil. In a daze, there seemed to be waves of strange howls echoing around, as if they were ghostly voices from beyond the nine hells.

Two men were pushed to the front of the temple gate, Ding Lingxiu raised his head and looked up, suddenly seeing the two big characters in front of the temple gate:

  Hell
