Pure as water at first sight

  Grave Robbers' Chronicles 2 Completed

  At first glance, like water

For the next three days, I went about my daily routine as usual, opening and closing the shop, going home. Grandfather was still grumbling as always, but I just pretended not to hear him. As long as I could complete my task and become a formal police officer, grandfather would definitely be happy. I just wanted to give him a surprise.

It wasn't until the third day that I received a call from Chen Mo, asking me to meet her at the underground bridge. As soon as I thought of Chen Mo, I felt a bit worried. With her personality, she might really do something bad. When I first met her, her condescending attitude made me feel like no matter what I said, she wouldn't listen. She's a girl with a strong personality who only does things her own way and will only change after suffering a loss.

Arrived at the bridge as agreed, Chen Mo had already been there for a while, wearing jeans and a white T-shirt, looking like a typical college student.

"It's been a long time." I walked up to greet her.

"You're late, how can you have no sense of time at all? You untrained people are always a hassle. How did Luo's team end up assigning me to bring someone like you?" Chen muttered to herself, shaking her head from time to time. From her tone, it seemed as if I was the one taking orders from her this time around.

Forget it, no need to argue about so many things. The task at hand is what's most important. Once I become a police officer too, you'll be the one who's in trouble. That's what I thought to myself.

After another ten or so minutes, a somewhat shifty-looking man with triangular eyes walked over from one end of the tunnel bridge. Just looking at him made me feel uneasy - was he really one of Lin Ruoshui's underlings? Just by looking at the kind of people he used, I could tell that this leader wasn't anything impressive either.

Chen Mo quietly took out an envelope from his bag and handed it to the triangular-eyed man. The man weighed it in his hand, then stuffed it into his own pocket, and beckoned us with a wave of his hand. Chen Mo and I followed him as he walked towards the bridge below.

After turning several corners and passing through a few alleys, I unexpectedly arrived in front of a flat house. The terrain here is quite complex, even if the police come, they will have to spend half a day navigating the maze-like alleys, by that time these people would have long since disappeared without a trace, what a great choice of location!

The triangular-eyed man stopped in front of a small house with a single gate and knocked on the door. After a while, the door was opened, and a tall, handsome man came out from inside. His facial features were clear-cut, especially his eyes, which seemed to be emitting a sharp light, as if he could see through everyone at a glance. I couldn't help but avoid his gaze and pretended to observe the surrounding environment.

After a whispered conversation between the two, the handsome man nodded to him, and Chen Mo and I were led in, while the triangular-eyed man left directly. It was only then that I realized he was just an intermediary who helped us make connections, took money and did things without asking why.

The light in the room was somewhat dim, with an old table in front of me, two beds on either side, and some luggage and travel bags scattered around. The smell in the room was unbearable. On the other side of the table stood a person who should be Lin Ruoshui, as mentioned by Luo Zheng.

"After all these years, I've only found two people? Including you, there are only four of us in total. Forget it, let's just say there are four. Who would dare to cooperate with us now that the situation is so tense?" The woman who was facing away from me spoke up, and her voice sounded very familiar, but I couldn't quite place where I had heard it before.

"Let me introduce myself, my name is Lin Ruoshui, and that man's name is Wu Liuqi. I suppose you all know the purpose of our visit." As soon as Lin Ruoshui turned around, I felt a sudden surge of excitement when I saw her appearance.

She wasn't someone else, but the girl who came to the store that day with a photocopy of the rubbing, the woman I had fallen in love with at first sight and couldn't stop thinking about. And when she saw me, she seemed to have a bewildered expression too, as if she was also trying to recall where she had seen me before.

"Don't you remember me? That day you came to my store with a piece of paper, and there was that rubbing on it." I excitedly walked towards her, but before taking two steps, I was stopped by that man named Wu Liuqi.

"Oh, it's you. The world is really small, I've been searching all over and found a useless person like you." Lin Ruoshui said with some disappointment.

"It seems we have a great fate, to meet here. It's really good." I truly can't describe my current mood, the beautiful woman who made me think of her all night is now standing in front of me, and we're about to work together, heaven is really treating me too well.

At this time, Chen Mo quietly pulled me from behind, as if reminding me that I still had my own task. I then came back to my senses from the excitement, but couldn't help but take a few more glances at her.

"Then who is she?" Lin Ruoshui said, pointing at Chen Mo beside me.

"She? She's my cousin, just graduated from college and hasn't found a job yet, so I brought her here." I casually made up a lie while forcibly putting my arm around Chen Mo's shoulder, pretending we were very close.

Although Chen was extremely displeased, he had no way to refute it, so he could only force a smile and foolishly laugh along with me.

"It's rare for a girl like you, who has just graduated from college, to be willing to do this line of work. What drew you in and made you want to become a tomb raider?" Lin Ruoshui asked.

"It's because of you!" Chen said in a hard tone.

As soon as I heard this, my heart immediately cooled down by half. This silly child isn't actually telling the truth, is she? Looking at her eyes, it's clear that she wants to get Lin Ruoshui in trouble. I was already reaching out to grab her collar.

"Because you are a legend in the tomb raiding world, I've always wanted to be like you. So when I was in university, I also chose to study history and archaeology, hoping that one day I could stand alongside you and go on tomb raids together." Chen's words made me feel relieved, it seems she still knows what her current identity is.

"I've only been a tomb raider for a few short years, and yet I've already become a legend. This world is just so unfair, making me sound like a god, but as for him, not a word is mentioned. Is his existence unknown to the world?" Lin Ruoshui said this with a hint of sorrow in her expression.

"Who is he? What kind of person can't be mentioned by others?" I asked in surprise.
