Chapter 47: The Mysterious Mechanism

Chapter 47: The Mysterious Truth Revealed

The dormitory was empty, I shouted loudly: "Jiuzhu Jiuzhu! Are you there?" The ears were empty. Suddenly, the door of the dormitory opened, and Lao San came in with a face full of water, his hair slightly wet: "Damn, Second Brother, you can really sleep, hurry up and wash your face? Today is Ma Changlian's class, I've skipped several times already, and if I don't get up now, I'll be dropped at the end of the semester!"

"How did I end up back here? Weren't you just hit by a car and sent flying?" I exclaimed, utterly bewildered by what was happening.

Old Three patted my forehead: "You're not feverish, why are you talking nonsense as soon as you get up in the morning? Second Brother, I don't owe you money, and even in my dreams, I'm dreaming of hitting you with a car. What deep-seated hatred do you have for me?" Old Three said while busily changing his clothes.

"Old Three, it seems like we've entered some kind of strange formation. How are we going to get out of this?" I said, bewildered.

"Alright, let's discuss it after class when I get back. Second brother, hurry up, there are only ten minutes left. I'm going first, Old Fourth has saved us seats." With that, Third Brother grabbed his book and rushed out of the room quickly.

The phone suddenly rang, and the number displayed was my mom's. I quickly picked it up, and on the other end came my mom's familiar voice, "Eldest son, what are you doing?"

"Hey, I just got out of bed and am getting ready for class." Although I had just talked to my mom on the phone, I still couldn't suppress the excitement in my heart.

"It's already this late and you're just getting up, hurry up and go, or you'll be late. Your father and I are driving to see you today, we'll arrive tonight." My mom said with concern.

"I immediately said: 'That's great, you guys come quickly, I'm waiting.'"

After hanging up the phone, I suddenly thought that if things went on like this, wouldn't Lao San be hit by a car and fly away? No way, when I opened my eyes again it would still be Wednesday. This won't do, I have to go stop him. After making up my mind, I quickly put on my clothes and ran towards the school gate.

As I passed by the girls' dormitory, I deliberately turned my head to see if that white-clothed girl was still there. As a result, the entrance was empty, could it be that I saw it wrong before? My heart was filled with doubts.

As I came to my senses, I saw a familiar figure walking out of the teaching building and heading towards the gate. I shouted loudly: "Old Three——" Suddenly, I saw a girl standing across the street wearing white clothes, her hair was disheveled, her face was pale, and she stared at me with no expression.

Lao San turned around: "Second brother, Ma Changlian asked me to go to the second campus district to pick up something, you hurry up and go." As he spoke, Lao San had already walked to the school gate, just about to cross the street. The sedan in the distance was speeding towards us, but that girl suddenly disappeared from my line of sight again.

"Lao San, don't move, don't move at all!" As soon as I shouted this, Lao San was stunned and stood blankly in front of the school gate, staring at me. The car whizzed past him quickly, giving Lao San a fright. He cursed loudly: "Damn it, can't you drive?"

Seeing this scene, I finally let out a sigh of relief. "Second brother, what's wrong?" asked the third brother, coming back to his senses and asking me.

"I'll go with you to the second campus district, and if Zhang Chang's face asks about it later, just say I helped you pick up something." I'm afraid he might encounter some accident on the way there, Old Three smiled slyly.

Nothing special happened on the way back, and I listened to Ma Changlian's one-hour lecture again, which made me feel drowsy. The feeling was as if I had returned to the peaceful school days, with an indescribable beauty.

It was finally after 10 o'clock that the class ended. Lao Si returned to the dormitory first, and I went to eat with Lao San. "Lao San, when you crossed the street, did you see a girl in white clothes on the other side?"

"Didn't notice?" Lao San tilted his head and thought for a long time, "Forgot, what's up Second Brother, you've taken a liking to the girl?" He snickered and said towards the window: "Potato powder."

  "I'll have one too."

"Two portions of mashed potatoes—" The canteen boy shouted towards the inside, "You two students wait a moment, there's still a Yangzhou fried rice in front."

Before long, the mashed potatoes arrived, and I chatted with Lao San while eating, "Lao San, don't you really remember that you are a member of the Hidden Bureau? Mu Ju Zhang? Fu Ma? You've forgotten all about it?" Just as I was asking, Lao San's face turned red, and he coughed violently.

  "What's wrong with you?"

"Flowers... Sichuan pepper... choke..." Lao San couldn't get the words out, his face turned from red to purple, and in an instant, he fell onto the table.

I opened my eyes again, and the date on my phone was still June 4th, 2014, Wednesday. The dormitory door opened, and Old Three walked in with a face full of water and slightly wet hair: "Damn, Second Brother, you can really sleep, hurry up and wash your face? Today is Ma Changlian's class, I've skipped it several times already, and if the final exam doesn't go well, I'll be in trouble!"

I couldn't take it anymore, "Is this going to end or not?" I cursed loudly. Who set my life's clock to single-cycle mode? Why is it always the same day, and every time it ends with Lao San's inexplicable death.

Lao San was startled by my sudden loud scolding, "What's wrong with you, Second Brother? You're so angry early in the morning." I didn't respond to him, and Lao San continued with a series of familiar actions, busily changing clothes and packing his bag. "Second Brother, hurry up! There are only ten minutes left. I'll go first, Lao Si has saved seats for us." Lao San and I said this sentence at the same time.

Lao San was taken aback: "How did you know what I wanted to say? I won't wait for you, I'll leave first."

"I'm fed up with you, wait a minute, I'll walk with you, otherwise you'll get hit by a car one minute and drowned the next."

The old monk was confused, with a puzzled face. I changed my clothes and didn't care about my image anymore, directly going out the door. Anyway, Old Three would be back in a while, and I'd have to come back to sleep again.

My mom's call came as expected, but I didn't feel a bit impatient. It was the same words and nagging as always. In the past, I would have been very impatient with such calls, but this was my greatest comfort in this repetitive day.

We always reserve our patience and tolerance for strangers, but leave the worst of our tempers for our own family members, especially our parents. They forgive us and put up with us time and again, until the moment they're gone, when we realize that their nagging was precious after all, and no one will ever speak to us in the same way again.

Next, I accompanied Lao San to the second campus, dodged the car, and attended another hour of class before arriving at the cafeteria.

Lao San said facing the window: "Potato flour!"

  "I'll have one too."

"Two portions of mashed potatoes—" The canteen boy shouted towards the inside, "You two students wait a moment, there's still a Yangzhou fried rice in front."

"Wait, Old Three, you change to something else to eat."

  "Why?"

"No reason, I'll treat you -" I thought for a while, what dish wouldn't have Sichuan pepper in it, "Baozi... let's eat baozi, my treat."

Old Three frowned at me: "Second Brother, you're acting strange today. Alright, whatever you say goes."

I swiped my meal card and was about to find a place to sit down with Lao San, when the white-clothed girl appeared again in the corner of the cafeteria. I was just about to walk over to investigate, when the little brother by the window shouted: "The buns are ready!"

Old Three was walking by with a swagger, when the big electric fan on his head suddenly fell off and hit him squarely on the head, instantly covering him in blood.

I opened my eyes again, the dormitory door was open, and Lao San came in with a face full of water and slightly wet hair: "Damn, Second Brother, you can really sleep. Hurry up and wash your face! Today is Ma Changlian's class, I've skipped it several times already, and if I don't go to the final exam, I'll be dropped!" Lao San and I said in unison.

I sighed helplessly, it's never-ending. June 4th, 2014, Wednesday, my god, can you change the day for me? I felt around with my hands to put on my clothes, and found something flashing under the pillow, giving off a cold light. I took a look, and suddenly felt both shocked and delighted - it was Wu Zihan's dagger. I secretly hid the dagger in my waist, and instantly felt a sense of security.

Lao San was taken aback: "How did you know what I wanted to say?" I said it again with him. Next, it's the same as before, going to the second campus district to pick up things, attending class, getting out of class, and going to the cafeteria.

Lao San said facing the window: "Potato flour!"

  "Don't eat potato powder anymore."

"Mashed potato for one!" The canteen boy shouted towards the inside, "Wait a minute, classmate, there's still a wonton noodle in front."

I just wanted to advise him to change to a place far away from the electric fan, without Sichuan pepper, suddenly I felt something was not quite right. I pulled Lao San aside and said: "Lao San, let's wait here for a while, I have something to figure out."

"Second brother, why are you acting so strangely today." Old Three looked at me with a puzzled expression, I ignored him and stared fixedly at the window of the cafeteria.

"One serving of Yun Tun Mian, coming right up!" The little brother in the cafeteria yelled out towards the kitchen.

A frail and diminutive boy, his face sullen, walked away from us to the window. I swiftly approached him and stabbed a dagger into his heart.

The surrounding scene began to become extremely unstable, as if standing in a hot air and looking at the scenery in front of me, hazy and vague, very much like the virtual dream space that was destroyed when I was with Zihan before.

The boy didn't turn around, his head turned 180 degrees to the back, startling me. "You actually discovered me." He stared at me with a fierce gaze, emitting an aura of evil, and spoke in an extremely hoarse voice.

"In the past few times, you were Yangzhou fried rice, this time you must change to wonton noodles. All the scenes here are the same, only you have changed, and you are the key to this formation."

"It's no wonder you're the reincarnation of the Queen, this array is really beautiful, and you've only just started to find the key in a few days. But take a look at who I am——" The extremely hoarse voice seemed to be smiling as he looked at me, his face slowly changing, his body slowly growing taller and more majestic than before, the dark energy surrounding him becoming heavier. I took a closer look, and sucked in a breath of cold air: "Director Zheng?"

The scenery around me began to slowly disappear, and before it disappeared, I caught a glimpse of the white-clothed girl again. Who was she? Before I could think more, I fainted. When I opened my eyes again, I found myself in a grand hall, and I felt extremely familiar with this place.
