Chapter 23: Unfair Competition (8)

  Chapter 23: Unfair Competition 8

Rather than saying Lei jumped down the mountain, it's better to say he slid all the way down. Fortunately, it was severe winter and the accumulated snow at the foot of the mountain was over a meter high, which allowed Lei to escape with only his clothes tattered and a few scratches on his body, but no serious injuries, although his buttocks were quite battered. After crawling out of the snow pile, Lei checked his body and found nothing seriously wrong, then turned around to look at where he had jumped down from. If he wanted to climb back up from here, it seemed there was little hope. So, after determining the direction, he followed the small path along the foot of the mountain forward.

It's unclear whether it was due to Lei's good luck or the enemy army thinking this place didn't need defending, but after traveling through the mountains for nearly thirty hours, he hadn't encountered a single enemy. At this point, all that was left on Lei's body was half a compressed biscuit, and in front of him, apart from a large mountain, there was nothing else. He took out the map to take a look, then compared it with his surroundings, and finally muttered to himself: "This mountain should be Jiwo Mountain, now I should be on the north side of the mountain."

Lei looked up at the mountain and thought it was very high, perhaps because of the fog on the top, he couldn't see the summit. After searching around, he didn't find any road leading to the top, so Lei put his gun behind his back, spat on the ground and said: "At least this slope is easier to climb than where I jumped down." After that, Lei started climbing towards the top by grabbing the branches in front of him.

Four hours later, Lei finally climbed to the top of the mountain after four whole hours. He looked up and saw that he was still 4 or 5 meters away from the end point, and cursed silently: "Damn it, I've finally arrived."

Just then, a voice came from the other side of the mountain: "I really don't understand, the other side of the mountain is bottomless and there's no road, who would be stupid enough to come up from this side? And yet, our class was assigned to guard this place."

Lei suddenly realized why Lian Zhang didn't send anyone to attack from the north, probably because the higher-ups were afraid of unexpected consequences, so they directly ordered Lian Zhang to cancel the attack on this side. Then, another voice came from the mountain, saying: "Hey, what's the point of talking about these things? I really want to fire a few shots and have some fun."

The voice at the beginning laughed and said, "I think you'd better give up. Those people are really formidable. I heard that in the past two days, we've already lost over 200 brothers, while they've only lost a little over 20 people. Until now, we still don't know how many troops they have."

Another dry laugh sounded, "That's right, I heard that those kids are all gods with guns, even our company's number one sniper was taken out by them on the first day."

The voice at the beginning laughed and said: "That's right, so I said you'd better give up, when you get there, you might not even see a shadow of a person, and be done for."

"Alas." Another sighed and said: "I heard that the other side is also new recruits like us, I don't know how they were trained to be so fierce."

Having heard this, Lei smiled slightly. It seemed that there were only two people standing guard opposite him. He reached into his pocket and stuffed the last half of a biscuit into his mouth, washing it down with snow. After resting for half an hour, Lei felt that his strength had recovered somewhat, so he quietly crept towards those two unlucky eggs.

Those two sentries appeared before Lei, and indeed they were two new recruits. They weren't even standing guard properly; they had thrown their guns into a snowbank and were squatting under a tree, wrapped in thick coats, smoking and chatting idly about nothing in particular. Even when Lei approached to within two meters of them, they still hadn't noticed him. Lei held his gun at the ready, aiming at the two men, originally intending to take care of both with one shot. However, he was afraid that the gunshot would attract others, so in the end, Lei put his gun back on his back and jumped out in front of the two men.

Luckily, Lei and the others had sanda training in addition to physical fitness and shooting practice. Although Lei's sanda skills were not very impressive at the moment, it was still easy for him to deal with the two new recruits. With a speed that was almost imperceptible, Lei kicked one of them who was farther away from him, then reached out and grabbed the other by the neck. He coldly shouted: "Don't move around, or else don't blame me for not holding back." After finishing speaking, Lei looked at the person he had kicked to the ground, whose chest was still struggling to breathe after being kicked in the chest, causing him to faint. Looking again at the person in his hand, Lei saw that he was desperately trying to pry open Lei's grip but couldn't. Seeing the person's face turn bright red, Lei suddenly realized he had used too much force and quickly loosened his grip, shouting once more: "You'd better not try anything."

"Cough...cough..." The man coughed a few times before asking tensely: "You, who are you?"

Lei saw that the new recruit was scared by himself and slowly loosened his hand, chuckling: "You forgot, just now you two were talking about us."

The new recruit heard this and was frightened, his whole body trembling, stuttering: "Brother, brother, it's not really fighting, do you have to be so cruel?"

Lei pointed his gun at the new recruit and said coldly, "Spare the words, go tie him up."

The new recruit was really obedient, and with a few quick movements, he tied up his own brother. When Lei put down his gun to tie him up, he also obediently stretched out his hands for Lei to bind. After being tied up, he even said: "Brother, is it okay now?"

Lei smiled and asked: "Where is your class?"

The new soldier pointed behind him and said: "It's just inside a small tent not far ahead."

Lei lightly smiled and said: "That still requires troubling you to take me for a walk."

The new recruit stood up and led the way for Lei, who followed closely behind him. They had only walked forty meters when a white canopy appeared before their eyes. This kind of canopy was clearly a military one, and it was well camouflaged - if you didn't look carefully, you would have thought it was just a pile of snow. Just as they reached the front of the canopy, a tense voice called out from inside: "Who's there?"

Lei patted the new recruit's waist and the new recruit hastily called out: "Sergeant, it's me."

The class leader inside heard it and scolded loudly: "Damn, you're not standing guard properly, what are you running back here for? If the leaders see this, I'll...".

Before the monitor had finished scolding, Lei kicked the new recruit inside with one foot and followed closely behind, pointing his gun at the people inside. Several people inside were completely stunned by this sudden change.
