Chapter 20: Unfair Competition 5
The man who was beaten saw Liu Qiang and raised his hand again, scaring him to hastily retreat backwards. At this time, Lei shouted to Liu Qiang: "Forget it!"
"Damn it, what kind of thing is this? You can't even follow the rules." Liu Qiang spat on the ground and then retreated to one side.
Gao Wen didn't scold those who were hit, but instead walked up to the captive and asked softly, "What's your name?"
This captive looked like a new recruit too. Seeing the furious Liu Qiang, he stuttered: "I, I'm called Lu Liang."
Gao Wen saw Lu Liang's tense expression, then smiled lightly and said kindly: "Alright, Lu Liang, you are now our captive, do you understand?"
"Tomorrow, I understand." Lu Liang replied tensely.
Gao Wen gently patted Lu's shoulder and then asked, "Alright, now I'd like to ask you a few questions. Hope you can cooperate with me a bit. How many people are stationed here in total?"
"Don't tell him!" someone among those who were hit suddenly shouted loudly.
Liu Qiang heard this and kicked the man to the ground, cursing: "You bastard! Do you know that you're already a dead man? If I hear any of you say another word, I'll take care of you!"
Lei feared that Liu Qiang would seriously injure these people, so he shouted to Zhang Nan: "Plug their mouths, lest they cry out again."
Zhang Nan came before the five with a sly smile and said, "Sorry, guys." After that, Zhang Nan took off their shoes and used their own smelly socks to stuff their mouths shut.
Gao Wen saw that no one was disturbing him anymore and asked again: "Alright, Lu Liang, tell me how many people are guarding this area?"
Lu Liang was looking at his brother, who had a smelly sock stuffed in his mouth. Lu Liang felt like the smell was in his own mouth and his stomach was churning nonstop. When Gao Wen asked him a question, Lu Liang hastily replied: "There's one platoon with thirty people stationed about a mile away from here."
Gao Wen smiled and asked: "Then where are the others stationed?"
Lu Liang shook his head and said: "I don't know, we are only in charge of these three sentry posts, and we don't know anything about the others."
Gao Wen saw Lu Liang and didn't know anything else, so he waved his hand at Zhang Nan. Zhang Nan smiled and came to Lu Liang's side, also using a smelly sock to stuff his mouth. Lei arrived beside Gao Wen and asked: "What do we do? Should we go and finish off this guy first?"
Gao Wen smiled and said, "No need for us to go, with the few gunshots just now and their noise, I think they will arrive here soon." Then Gao Wen looked around at the terrain and had Lei bring three people to ambush fifty meters away in the front left to cut off the enemy's retreat route. He also ambushed two people on each side to attack from the flanks, while he and one other person hid here waiting for the incoming troops.
Just as Gao Wen and the others had just hidden, they heard a loud noise approaching. Soon, more than 20 people entered Lei's encirclement. "Bang!", someone fired the first shot, followed by "bang, bang......" nine more shots. Ten people in the encirclement were immediately hit, while those who weren't hit quickly dropped to the ground and searched for the source of the bullets. Since they couldn't see where the enemy was, they started firing wildly in all directions, causing a chaotic "bang bang" sound that filled the mountainside.
They didn't panic at all, one shot for each person, not a single bullet was wasted. Slowly, the gunfire became less frequent, and after three minutes, they heard an enemy shout: "Stop shooting! We're all fucking hit!"
To prevent them from breaking the rules like those people at the beginning, Gao Wen shouted loudly to them: "Alright! Put all your guns on the ground and retreat ten meters back!"
The enemy indeed followed Gao Wen's words and threw their guns to the ground, retreating ten meters back. Lei and his men then approached with their guns and surrounded them tightly. It was only then that they saw clearly that the person who had spoken had a one-star rank on his shoulder, apparently he was the platoon leader. The platoon leader, seeing Gao Wen's military insignia, called out to him in a low voice: "I say, brother, is this really necessary? We've already died in battle, and you still make us throw our guns to the ground before coming out."
Gao Wen smiled slightly: "What can we do? Who made your brother not follow the rules just now, he's already dead, but still wants to shoot at my brother."
The squad leader only saw the several people tied up not far away, and when he saw the smelly socks in their mouths, his face immediately turned bright red. He said in a low voice: "Can you let my brothers go?"
"Of course, since we've already spoken frankly, what's not allowed? I think you wouldn't be as unscrupulous as your subordinates," said Gao Wen with a smile. After finishing speaking, he gestured to Lei, who then led the two of them towards Fang Ru.
After hearing Gao Wen's words, Pai Chang's face turned even redder. He hadn't expected that his thirty brothers would be killed by just ten people, and not a single one of the enemy was injured. He angrily shouted to the others: "Listen up, everyone! We're all dead now, no one is allowed to move!"
"Yes, it's a long queue." The others replied weakly, now they looked like defeated roosters, staring at Lei with eyes that were both full of anger and admiration.
Lei untied the several people who had been bound and brought them before Pai Chang. They had all heard his previous words, and with red faces they cried out: "Pai Chang..."
Pai Chang let out a long sigh and said: "We'll talk about it when we get back." Then he turned to Gao Wen and asked: "What do you plan to do with us?"
Gao Wen smiled lightly and said: "Of course I want some spoils of war."
"Oh." Pai Chang immediately understood and ordered everyone to take out all useful things from their bodies.
They didn't take much from them, just took away the compressed biscuits on their bodies, supplemented some ammunition and put on the opponent's camouflage uniforms, most importantly, they also captured an opponent's walkie-talkie.
