Chapter 3 The Devils Want to Capture People
"Open the gate!" Hu's father waved his hand at the long worker by the door, indicating to open it. When was the old Hu family ever blocked at the gate and scolded? Let alone Japanese people, even if outsiders were uninvited ghosts, the men of the Hu family had the courage to open the gate and confront them head-on!
The two pillars at the gate hesitated for a moment before reaching out to the door bolt. Although his heart was pounding, he heard the order of the master of this house and executed it resolutely.
"Bang!" Suddenly a loud noise, the gate shook violently for a moment, and Er Zhuang's hands had already touched the door bolt before being scared back.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!" After several consecutive loud noises, the wooden gate finally could not withstand the external impact, and the entire gate creaked as it broke free from the door frame's restraints and fell into the courtyard.
Hu Fei quickly retreated, pulling Er Zhu back with him, and in a few steps they rushed out of the killing range of the gate. They stared blankly as the gate slammed to the ground just one foot away from them, kicking up countless dust particles. Hu Fei and Er Zhu were both shocked into stupidity.
In the midst of swirling dust, a group of people walked in from outside, trampling on the wooden gate. At the front were several young men wearing old-fashioned Fengjun military uniforms. Looking at these people, one by one with their big waists and dusty appearance, it's clear that they were the ones who pushed down the courtyard gate earlier.
Behind the several Northern soldiers were a small squad of about ten or so soldiers carrying rifles and wearing yellow military uniforms. These people were not tall, with earth-yellow military caps on their heads, and a piece of tattered cloth hanging from the back of their hats. Hu Fei had seen them last month when he went to Fengtian with his father - these were Japanese soldiers!
"Hey, you're the one who lives here, right? I was calling out for someone to open the door just now, but nobody did. I had to force it open myself. This gate is really sturdy, by the way. I almost dislocated my shoulder trying to break in."
Hearing this guy's nonsense, Old Hu's face turned red and white with rage.
"Who invited you here? You crashed into my family's gate, how much money are you going to pay for compensation?" Hu Fei didn't care if the guy had a gun on him or not, daring to speak to his own father in such a tone was unacceptable!
"Hey, where did this little rabbit come from? Go go go, stay wherever it's cool, I'm asking your grown-ups, not you who haven't even grown all your hair yet. Scram, get out of my sight!" Commander Feng yelled at Hu Fei with a glare.
"Liu, you're no good, let me come." Behind him came a Japanese officer wearing a khaki military uniform with a long sword hanging from his waist. This devilish officer waved his hand and pushed the puppet soldiers to one side, standing in the middle of the courtyard himself.
After staring at Hu Fu with his beady eyes for a while, the Japanese officer stuck out his thumb and praised him in a universally understood gesture: "You're Chinese! The Imperial Army has come to build a utopia, to make you happy. Don't be afraid. We've come today to eliminate bandits, to annihilate local ruffians. Do you understand? Where is the old North Wind's house? If you tell me, I'll give you a big reward!"
"Old North Wind? No one in our village is called that." Hu's father shook his head vigorously to add credibility to his words, "Have you guys come to the wrong place?"
"I haven't mistaken the place, this is indeed the old home of Lao Bei Feng Zhang Haitian! Don't you know? Then I'll change my method. Gather all your family members here, I want to ask one by one and see if anyone knows Zhang Haitian." As he said this, the Japanese officer waved his hand, and the Japanese soldiers and puppet troops swarmed in from behind.
After a flurry of commotion, the entire Hu family, young and old, including all the short-term workers, were rounded up together. Even Mrs. Hu, who had been hiding in her room, was dragged out.
The devil officer rolled his dog eyes back and forth in the crowd. Suddenly, this guy's eyes lit up, took a few steps to the front of the crowd, stretched out his hand and pointed, "Yours, come out, the Imperial Army wants to ask questions!"
Hu Fei's eyebrows furrowed at that moment, and the old devil was pointing directly at the bride, his sister Chunni! The groom and Chunni were standing together, and due to the urgency of the situation, they hadn't even had time to change out of their wedding attire. Their bright red clothing made them stand out especially in the crowd. The groom was trying hard to move forward, wanting to block the bride behind him.
Unexpectedly, the ghost pointed at the bride first. Yang Lao San instinctively felt that something was wrong! He wanted to object but didn't know how, so he could only tightly hold Chun Ni's hand and glare angrily at the ill-intentioned ghost.
"Huh? You're unwilling to talk to me? Liu Sang, bring him over!" The devil gave the order to the traitor.
"Hey!" Perhaps because he had received an order from the master, the fake military leader with the surname Liu responded particularly loudly. "Zhang Shan, Ma Liu, follow me to capture that little girl! You dare not listen to the Ta Jun's command, I'll see you grow a few more heads?"
"What are you doing? You can't arrest people!" Hu Fei saw the puppet soldiers coming to arrest his sister and immediately jumped over to stop them. Not only him, but also Hu's father and the workers in the yard all came over to block their way. The three puppet soldiers didn't dare to rush in now. There were twenty or thirty people in the old Hu's house, including the master and the helpers, with seven or eight of them having weapons. If they forced their way into the crowd to take someone away, they would definitely be at a disadvantage.
The puppet army didn't dare to come up, but the devils wouldn't give up. "Eight toothed road!" The devil officer let out a loud roar and rushed forward, grabbing the puppet army leader's collar with one hand and swinging his arm, "Whack! Slap!" He slapped him four times, each time cursing "eight toothed road".
After being slapped in the face, the puppet army leader's face was swollen, but he still kept bowing his head to flatter the devils: "Hai! Hai!"
"Hey, you guys go and bring people." The devil nodded his hand back, and immediately four devils with rifles came up from behind. Other devils also held their rifles horizontally to strengthen their vigilance, with the muzzles pointing at the Hu family in the yard. Ordinary people have not been on the battlefield and do not know the cruelty of the devils, but facing the Japanese soldiers' formation, Hu Fei still instinctively felt that something was wrong!
"Little Fei, if a fight breaks out later, you immediately climb over the wall from the backyard and run, don't care about anyone else, just run as far as you can!" After whispering to Hu Fei, Hu Father shouted "Stop!" and walked towards Chunni with a wooden stick.
The devils have already separated the groom and bride, Yang Lao San is shouting Chun Ni's name while rushing forward with all his might, trying to reunite with his newlywed wife. Chun Ni is also crying out in struggle. But those two devils holding her are quite strong, no matter how hard Chun Ni struggles, she can't break free. The laborers holding iron shovels and wooden sticks come forward wanting to intervene, but intimidated by the guns in the devils' hands, they don't dare push forward too hard. Just at this critical moment, Hu Fu comes rushing over with a loud shout!
The master of the house took the lead, and all the men in the Hu family suddenly had a backbone. The one with the stick in his hand rushed forward to block the devils who were taking Chunni away, while those without weapons searched around for something to use - stools, brooms, anything would do. Two of them searched around but couldn't find anything, so they picked up bricks from the ground and smashed them into two halves with a "crack". Each held half a brick in one hand! A fierce battle was about to erupt!
