Golden Autumns Sudden Attack 1

  Chapter 3: Refining 19. Jin Qiu's Sudden Attack (1)

It was around 3 am when the air raid siren suddenly sounded in the mountain valley. I was dreaming of eating delicious fried noodles made by our cook, and I immediately jumped out of bed, still half asleep. Ma Da pulled the light cord on his lower bunk, but it didn't work, and we cursed loudly as we quickly got dressed and grabbed our backpacks and helmets. We rushed out into the darkness of the corridor. The armory was also pitch black, but Wen Shu was familiar with it and went inside to shout for which unit to come over. Then a bunch of rifles were thrown out - you know how people always envy those 95 and 92 guns in pictures? But during our emergency drill, we really did throw them out onto the ground! We didn't have time to waste! We quickly divided up the long and short guns, each person grabbing a few as we ran. We would switch to fastening the short guns on our backs and carrying the long guns once we boarded the plane. The whole courtyard was in chaos, with people rushing around and dogs barking - it felt just like the night of September 18th, except without the sound of artillery fire and Japanese planes flying overhead. The security team's guards and dogs were stationed along the roads, watching us intently as our officers directed each unit to their designated positions according to the pre-arranged plan (which had been changed multiple times). We just ran as fast as we could, not even bothering to properly secure our helmets or guns on our backs. It was chaotic - nothing like what you see in movies. Under the faint light of a few indicator lamps, we rushed towards our designated gathering points, where we received and loaded our backup ammunition (of course, these were just blanks - if it had been real war, they would have been live rounds; there were two separate systems for this, but I never found out who was in charge). Then we saw the transport helicopters from the aviation unit flying over, and soon after, we boarded the planes according to our designated positions.

It wasn't until I got on the plane that I took a deep breath, removed my helmet and adjusted my equipment backpack under the dim light, and applied camouflage paint to my face. The Dog Head High School team started barking at the radio, only then did we know where we were going. After the brothers finished adjusting, they casually helped each other touch up their makeup.

The helicopter team flew to the designated area according to orders, and we waited on the plane according to orders.

The dog-headed high school team began to arrange our tasks, a few points to go to some dog-day place, and then run the road, a few points again to the dog-day place, and then lurk and wait for orders or do something. In fact, special forces are just knives inserted into the enemy's back, not blocking tanks. To be honest, it's just sending people to their deaths. No matter how powerful you are, when you encounter a tank, you're still helpless. It's just doing what needs to be done. Tank-to-tank battles are for army corps, not special forces' tasks. We didn't run so fast just to take the lead in the first wave of attacks. That would be like eggs colliding with stones.

We're doing what all special forces units around the world should be doing.

It turns into a dagger, stabbing the weakest part of your heart, and then retreats, not entangling with you. Our first mission that time was to reach a hidden region.

I took a look at the map, and oh my god! All around us are garrison troops from brother units, infantry regiments, armored regiments, everything except for airborne troops. Let's hide on this mountain in between and wait for orders. Is this good hiding? Everyone is waiting for us! Moreover, according to the map, all around us are either Wang Zhuang or Li Xiang villagers who come up the mountain to chop firewood and herd sheep. What if they discover our sneaky group of people? If we go back and say it, can we still keep the secret? They're all our own people, you wouldn't dare to detain them! It's not a war action after all!

But there's nothing to say, orders are orders, this is a drill, it's war and you have to go. The helicopter didn't dare fly that close, and in just a few dozen kilometers, the brothers would be parachuting down. We ran along the mountain roads, deploying combat formations along the highway nearby.

The sky was just bright, I could hear the chickens nearby, and then saw the lights of the village in the distance lit up one by one, the villagers got up. Also saw tractors, cars, motorcycles on the highway, some started moving. Of course, we also saw checkpoints, all fully armed brothers from other troops who checked without hesitation, military exercises and drills are military operations, military operations are military operations, no reason to talk about it, whoever you are, check first and then talk.

When it got light, we didn't dare to run like that anymore. The Dog Head High School team told us to hide first and then talk about it later. He wanted to move his brain a bit to study the map and see how to run the route below. We were on the mountain watching the inspection post of our brother unit. Do you know what I felt when I saw the 81 guns?

Damn, it's really beautiful! When I first got the 95 rifle, it was particularly fresh and felt great. But after seeing and touching it every day, it's not that exciting anymore. Now, suddenly seeing the 81 rifle is just amazing. My hands are itching, I want to capture one to play with.

The inspection team of the brother unit wore 80 steel helmets, held 81 guns, and wore army camouflage uniforms, all with rubber shoes. It felt so familiar and affectionate! This soldier has been following for two lifetimes! Later I found out that most brothers had this feeling when they first clashed with their brother units.

Mada was also fascinated, staring at the 81 gun with sparkling eyes. I said to Mada: "How about it? Let's play with one?"

"My god! You son of a turtle has gone mad!" Ma Da nodded with his eyes towards the high school team. I didn't make a sound, just looked down and thought, definitely thinking of playing with the 81 gun.

The sky gradually brightened. The Dog Head High School team deliberated for half a day before deciding to rest and run at night. I just thought, how stupid can you be! Only now do I understand? We've even fought battles! Then we set up a circular defensive position, taking turns standing guard. I still miss the 81 rifle, really miss it terribly.

You don't know what it feels like, do you? That was the first time I've ever fired a gun in my life!
