Chapter 1 Preface

  Chapter 1 Preface

The rough Latin nation under the leadership of Augustus defeated the Greek Empire, bringing the barbaric Latin nation into civilization and creating a brilliant Western classical civilization.

These civilizations include the Arc de Triomphe, symbolizing victory and glory, the Pantheon where all gods reside, and the wishing pool that can only be blessed with piety. However, the most familiar one is still the Colosseum in Rome, Italy, which is hailed as one of the world's eight great wonders. Despite being weathered by thousands of years of wind and rain, the ancient Roman Colosseum still stands proudly like a warrior, allowing people to imagine the bloody battles that once took place within its walls at a glance.

The Colosseum is a symbol of ancient Rome, representing the empire that rose in blood and left behind not only these long-dried buildings but also a lingering crowd of people who would sell their lives for money.

These ragtag groups are called mercenaries, a band of savage warriors who bring death and suffering to others, with the sole motivation for fighting being money.

Mercenaries originated in the ancient Roman Empire, and after thousands of years of evolution, they finally formed a special profession that exists in this world. They drift outside normal life, and their work is to engage in cruel battles.

Today they can die for you, tomorrow they will take money from someone else to kill you. Only money directs the war direction of this special group of mercenaries, unless they die.

Since the 1990s, international conflicts have been continuous. The territorial dispute between Ethiopia and Eritrea has not subsided, Sri Lanka is again shrouded in smoke, and at the same time, Sierra Leone has risen again...

In this massive wave of war, a peculiar army emerged, its name is mercenary. It can be said that in recent years, with the continuous setbacks of UN peacekeeping operations, mercenaries have become the main characters in countries and regions where the situation is turbulent and wars are constant.

In the 1980s, under the influence of the United Nations "Convention against the Recruitment, Use, Financing and Training of Mercenaries", mercenaries gradually faded out of people's sight and transformed into commercial institutions for operation.

In 2003, the Iraq War broke out and lasted until the US military withdrawal from Iraq in 2010, with over 4,600 American soldiers killed on the battlefield. As a result, opposition voices within the United States grew louder, forcing the government to once again bring mercenaries onto the historical stage, recruiting large numbers of them to fight for the government.

  。

After that, the shadow of mercenaries will appear in all military actions of the US military. They are always at the forefront of war until American soldiers safely enter and receive their due commission, disappearing from people's sight.

After the US government broke the UN's International Convention against the Recruitment, Use, Financing and Training of Mercenaries in the 1980s, various countries began to follow suit, recruiting mercenaries for various battles, reducing the number of deaths among their own soldiers.

The mercenary organization that had been dormant for decades has once again become a focal point in the international arena.

To put it simply, they were a group of professional killers who made their living through war.

They were hired to carry out various assassinations, kidnappings, battles and even coups. Uncovering the mysterious veil of mercenaries, you will find that in fact, the composition of mercenaries is very complex, with all sorts of people, but they have one common characteristic, which is that they all like war, war is their everything.

Whoever pays the money is who they die for, this is a basic rule that mercenaries commonly follow, and it is also their professional ethics.

"Nowadays, as long as someone is willing to pay me, I will risk my life for him. I don't know what's wrong. I can work for Reagan and equally die for Gaddafi."

Being is reasonable, although the international community strongly opposes the use of mercenaries, but in reality, the scale of mercenaries is still expanding. Now, among every five soldiers in Iraq, there is one foreign mercenary; eighty percent of military operations in Afghanistan are completed by mercenaries; the chaotic situation in Libya was directly caused by mercenaries...

This is a new form of war economy, with global private military companies currently holding a huge market worth around $100 billion annually. As some US overseas military operations continue to be privatized and outsourced, profit-driven mercenary activities will not cease. Some Western scholars even believe that as military reforms deepen, mercenaries may become one of the main participants in future wars.

The world's famous mercenary companies include the French Foreign Legion, Blackwater USA, Executive Outcomes (EO), Sandline International, Military Professional Resources Inc. (MPRI), Cossack mercenaries, Spanish Foreign Legion and Nepalese Gurkha mercenaries etc.

These are the overt ones, but covertly there are also some mercenary organizations that can completely counter or defeat these mercenaries. They just prefer to live in darkness and die for one employer after another, they are the true masters of war.
