Chapter Thirteen Sneak into the village and shoot without warning
Whether it was a 'period' or an 'exclamation mark' in Keqi's heart, or filled with 'question marks'. Keqi, who usually spoke little, directly told Liu Qi "There is a small market ahead, I saw many military vehicles parked inside. There are also sentries standing guard at the entrance."
"Oh, there's a market. Let's go take a look." Liu Qi said, and then followed Kaito as they walked forward together.
After walking for about 20 minutes, Kaito led Liu Qi over a mound. They came to the front of several vanguard hiding places and pointed forward with their hands. "Look, it's right there," Kaito said.
Liu Qi picked up the binoculars and looked into the distance, where the sky was already brightening. A small desert village appeared before his eyes. The village was surrounded by sand walls made of earth, with low stone houses inside. There were a few scattered palm trees around the village. Some Arab women had already begun to stir inside. In the middle of the sand wall in front of him, there was a large gate, and in the middle of the road, there was a roadblock wrapped in barbed wire. Several sentries wearing British military uniforms were patrolling at the gate, next to which was a firing point made of sandbags. The firing point had a Browning light machine gun, but no one was seen beside it. Inside the small village, there was also a long line of vehicles, with several military tents set up beside them.
"It looks like a British transport team. Liu Qi then said to Kechi, "Kechi, take a few people and sneak in, get rid of those sentries. Then change into their clothes. We'll make use of the remaining darkness to commandeer a few cars. Let's hurry up and get going. Remember, no shooting, quietly get the job done."
Cai Qi responded with a nod and led several Italian soldiers to sneak around the back of the sentries from the side. Looking at those Italian soldiers tiptoeing, they seemed surprisingly agile, so he asked the SS officer beside him, "What did these soldiers do before? Why are their movements so familiar?"
"Zhong xiao, you don't know. These guys used to be a gang of thieves. One time the Italian army transported a batch of military supplies and stored them in the camp's storage facility, but the next day they found that many were missing. After discovering the theft, the Italian army strengthened its guard, but things would still go missing from time to time. In the end, it was our military police who caught these guys red-handed while they were trading the stolen anti-tank guns with locals on the black market."
Liu Qi was also a bit dizzy, what kind of people are these! Even anti-tank guns can be stolen from the military camp. It seems that the profession of thief is still very promising. Talents, all of them are talents. It seems that any army's prison will have talented people. Not only America has Garrison-style characters.
Kai Qi quickly snuck up behind several sentries with his men, and each of them took care of one sentry. They used their daggers to slash the sentry's neck and then covered their mouths as they dragged them aside. Before long, several people appeared wearing the sentries' uniforms. Kai Qi was seen saying a few words to them before turning around and entering the village.
As Kaito entered the village, Liu Qi's mental map also lit up. Looking at the black dots moving in his mind, all the buildings in the city appeared in Liu Qi's mind. There were more than 20 cars in the village, and two armored vehicles. There were probably more than 60 British soldiers. However, it was now just before dawn, and the British soldiers were still asleep, motionless. There were also some white light spots, which seemed to be the villagers.
Kai Qi finished the entire market and returned to the gate, waving his hand in Liu Qi's direction. Meaning it was time to act. Liu Qi then ordered "Let's go, we're going in. First, take control of all British soldiers and officers, do not allow gunfire unless absolutely necessary. Did you hear that?"
"Yes, middle school." Everyone replied in unison.
After a while, Liu Qi led the soldiers to rush into the village. Along the way, they also met several local Egyptians, and what surprised Liu Qi was that the Egyptians didn't react at all. As if Liu Qi and his men were transparent people, the soldiers quickly entered the British military camp under Kaiti's leadership.
The sentry at the camp was taken out by a few men, and Liu Qi made a hand gesture to Kaito to split up. Each barrack and tent had several soldiers with rifles and bare fists rushing forward. And each barrack or tent had roughly equal numbers of soldiers. Liu Qi was also slightly surprised that Italian and German troops were cooperating so tacitly.
The book implies that this is related to the radar map in Liu Qi's mind. When the soldiers' loyalty to Liu Qi is higher, Liu Qi can command them more effectively on the map in his mind. Sometimes, even if Liu Qi just thinks about what he wants them to do, the soldiers will follow his intentions. However, all of this is based on Liu Qi's prestige, and if he were to become a marshal, it's likely that all soldiers and officers would be able to fight according to Liu Qi's ideas.
After everyone was in place, Liu Qi made a starting gesture. Then he raised his wrist and stared at his watch. The soldiers all rushed into the house and military tents. A burst of rustling sounds came from the house, and terrified cries could be heard from time to time. However, everything ended quickly. In less than 5 minutes, Liu Qi nodded in satisfaction. Looking at the British soldiers walking out of the house with their heads bowed, still wearing their pajamas. Each one was terrified, staring at the surrounding SS soldiers and Italian soldiers.
Liu Qi said to Ketch and the Party Guards officer, "You go ask around and see who's in charge of this group. Also interrogate them to see if there's any valuable intelligence."
Kai Qi walked up to the group of captives and asked in pure London accent English, "Which one of you is an officer? Step forward. I have something to ask."
After a good half-day of silence in the crowd, Kaji spoke again, "How is it that no one knows? Or are you unwilling to tell me? I like uncooperative prisoners of war. I hope your bones can be harder." As soon as he finished speaking, Kaji waved his hand and the Italian soldiers standing behind him rushed forward. Two or three people surrounded a British prisoner and started beating him up, and there were cries of agony all around.
"Stop it, I say." a British soldier cried out in despair.
Caiti waved his hand and the Italian soldiers stopped their movements. The British soldier said, "Our officer is Major Beck, Merrick. He's not here right now."
"Huh? Where did he go?" Kaito asked.
"He...he..." The British soldier stuttered.
Caiti gave a wink to the Italian soldiers on the side. Several Italian soldiers surrounded the British soldier, two of them holding him down. They saw the third Italian soldier clenching his fists and preparing to strike. The British soldier was so scared that he shouted "I say, I say! He went to the headman's house!"
"Oh, what's he doing there?" Kaito asked.
"It's probably just asking him out for a drink, I'm not entirely sure myself." The British soldier replied honestly.
"Come on, let's go find him, don't say you don't know the way," Kaito said.
"I know, I know. It's in the biggest house in the village, I'll take you there," said the British soldier.
Kai Qi glanced at Liu Qi, meaning what to do, and Liu Qi nodded slightly. Kai Qi led a dozen soldiers carrying weapons to escort the British soldier away. In Liu Qi's mind, Kai Qi led the soldiers to a large house in the village, just as the British soldier was calling out. Liu Qi felt a blue light spot appear behind the house, "Not good, this guy is going to run."
Liu Qi immediately told the other SS officers, "You stay here and continue to interrogate. I'll take some men to catch that escaped officer." After finishing speaking, he led a team of soldiers towards the blue dot. Soon Liu Qi arrived at the small alley where the blue dot was located, but saw no one inside. Liu Qi was a bit puzzled - clearly, he had just been here, so how could he have disappeared? Liu Qi took a few more steps forward and discovered a shed with two camels tied up in front of it. The blue dot was almost right next to where he was standing, when suddenly Liu Qi noticed the haystack in the corner of the wall move slightly - he understood. It turned out that this guy had been hiding in the haystack all along, no wonder only the blue dot could be seen but not the person.
"Come out, kid. If you don't come out, I'll shoot!" Liu Qi shouted in English inside. Of course, Liu Qi didn't want to shoot, he was just trying to scare the guy. Before Liu Qi's words had even fallen, the guy had already spoken up.
"Don't shoot, don't shoot. I'm coming out." Before the words were even finished, a man stood up from behind a pile of grass. Liu Qi almost burst out laughing at the sight. This fellow was topless, wearing only a pair of four-cornered underwear. His hands were raised high in the air, and there were still several stalks of grass stuck to his head. At this moment, Keji also rushed over from the front. Seeing that the man had been caught by Liu Qi, he couldn't help but feel a bit angry too. He went up and slapped the fellow's face with a loud smack.
"Don't hit me, I surrender." The man said.
"Go, take them back." Liu Qi said. After finishing, he took the people back to the British army's camp. After arriving at the camp, Liu Qi gathered the officers and assigned tasks, including letting the soldiers change into British uniforms and weapons to start sealing off all villages. Not a single person can be allowed to leave here. Then find out who can drive a car to check the cars, and finally let Kaito interrogate the captured British officer.
A British soldier who couldn't speak English suddenly appeared. However, Liu Qi wasn't worried at all, guessing that not many locals would be able to speak English anyway. The local leader was also taken control of by Kaito's people.
After arranging all this, Liu Qi walked into the room where Kechi was interrogating the officer. He found a comfortable armchair and sat down on it. He reached out to take a box of 35 cigarettes from the table, took one out, lit it up, and deeply inhaled. With his eyes narrowed, he looked at the man in the middle of the room. As Liu Qi's lungs felt the stimulation of nicotine again, his entire body seemed to float up.
