Chapter 18: European Journey (Part 2)

  According to legend, Tesla was born at midnight, during a fierce thunderstorm, to Serbian parents in the village of Smiljan, Lika district, near Gospi?, Croatia (then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire).

  His baptismal record indicates that he was born on June 28, 1856, and was baptized by a Serbian Orthodox priest.

  In '62 his family moved to Gospi?. Tesla studied in Karlovac, Croatia and later at the Technical University of Graz, Austria, studying electrical engineering in '75.

  There he studied the application of alternating current. He attended only the first semester of his freshman year and stopped attending classes during that period. The teachers there could no longer satisfy his desire for knowledge.
