Chapter 22: The Focus Character
After finishing the compilation, Yang Junran didn't have time to think about whether the weapons were enough or not.
Yang Junran's idea was simple: at least two battalions could wipe out a Japanese regiment, and one battalion could hold its ground with the support of an artillery regiment.
After arriving at the military warehouse, Yang Junran was indeed startled by the weapons in front of him.
All sorts of artillery are available, including some whose names cannot be mentioned.
There were also many rifles, which made Yang Junran very happy.
The huge arsenal had already been occupied by weapons and ammunition, taking up a third of the space. Yang Junran didn't stand on ceremony either, casually finding a place to slowly lie down.
Up until now, Yang Jun Ruo still hasn't gotten familiar with the ring, but he is very much looking forward to converting his Type 81 submachine gun into a Browning light machine gun.
Unconsciously, Yang Junran slowly fell asleep.
Hohhot City (now Hohhot), meeting room of the Mongolian Autonomous Government.
The decorations are very luxurious, and for these traitors to the country, now is their time to enjoy.
A man wearing a traditional long gown sits on a chair, his eyes scanning the Japanese military officers below.
Next to him was a military officer wearing a Japanese army uniform, looking very thin and small.
The man looked around and said with some displeasure, "They are really too much. We need to teach them a lesson, but we can't hurt them, otherwise it will lead to endless revenge later on. The Japanese are not good either, they want us to both lose so they can reap the benefits."
This man was none other than De Wang, the vice-chairman who controlled all matters of the Inner Mongolian Autonomous Government.
A thin, small man spoke up with a disbelieving look on his face: "Many of the county towns have received weapons from the Japanese army to aid us, but now they've become their own things. I must vent my anger and teach them a good lesson; otherwise, we'll be unable to account for ourselves to the Japanese."
The rest of the officers remained silent, although they were wearing Japanese military uniforms, but they were all Mongolians, and some were even Han Chinese.
"I'll take three divisions of troops to deal with them. The Japanese will probably send a small number of troops as well, and I've heard there are even tanks involved. If we don't take some real action, none of us will be able to face the Japanese." The thin man spoke up.
This thin man was none other than Li Shouxin, the deputy commander-in-chief of the Mongolian army who actually controlled all military affairs.
"In that case, our Second Army won't send any troops. The rest of the matters will be left to Vice-Commander Li." Duke De's face showed a hint of displeasure as he walked outwards.
As the German king left, several officers also stood up and left.
Li Shouxin looked at De Wang's back and shook his head helplessly.
"You all go back and prepare, tomorrow get ready, the day after tomorrow we will set off." Li Shouxin glanced at the remaining officers, dropped such a sentence, and also walked out towards the outside.
The officers in the conference room looked at each other, got up with a puzzled face.
Second War Zone Command Center
The commander-in-chief, dressed in a first-class army uniform, got up overnight and checked the telegram that had just been received at the telegraph office.
Yan Xishan could hardly have imagined that the guerrilla column he had abandoned in Chahar would again achieve unprecedented victories.
Once again annihilated a Japanese army corps, and it was still completely annihilated, which made Yan Xishan unthinkable.
"General Yan, will you immediately wire back to express your appreciation?" asked General Zhu Shaoyang, the Chief of Staff of the Second War Zone, hastily.
Yan Xishan furrowed his brow and said to the deputy officer beside him, "Immediately find out Yang Junran's information from the guerrilla column."
"Yan Xishan, it seems that this man is not simple. He can rely on some miscellaneous troops and outdated weapons to achieve such results. It's really not simple. Do we still have any scattered troops in the war zone? If we quickly dispatch them to him, they might become our important forces in Chahar. We must act fast, otherwise, the Chairman won't give up the opportunity to recruit this troop. Also, immediately send a telegram to the Military Commission to report this great victory, so that we don't find out about it like last time when the commendation telegram arrived." Yan Xishan said to Zhu Xiangguang after his deputy officer left.
Zhu Xiangguang was three years younger than Yan Xishan, and after seeing Yan Xishan gesture for him to sit down, he did not hesitate at all and sat on the chair beside him.
"The Sichuan army has about a thousand men, and the Northeast Army also has an infantry regiment with poor combat effectiveness, but it is a first-class regiment. Apart from these two troops, there are no other troops for the time being." Zhu Xieguang said to Yan Xishan after sitting down.
Yan Xishan nodded and said: "Give them an order, let them rush to Chahar immediately, and assign them to the guerrilla column's roster. Also, reorganize that female battalion into the Chahar People's Self-Defense Army, and promote Zhou Yulan to Lieutenant General Commander-in-Chief. In these times, it's not easy for women either, so let's take care of her if we can."
Just as the two were talking, the deputy officer walked in with a document.
"Sir, this man's information is incomplete. He seems to be a graduate of the Whampoa Military Academy and has served in the Central Army and Shanxi-Suiyuan Army. In 1937, he was sent by the General Headquarters to Chahar as the commander of the guerrilla column with the rank of colonel. His troops should not exceed three thousand people." The deputy officer saluted and said to the two men.
Yan Xishan was puzzled, his own subordinate had such a talented general, but he hadn't noticed.
"Send them electricity immediately and ask about their specific personnel composition." Yan Xishan said to his deputy.
The deputy officer saluted and walked out towards the outside.
The sky gradually brightened, Yang Junran let out a sneeze and looked around.
The weapon has been successfully replicated. It seems that I will have to study it carefully in the future. Fortunately, the weather has improved a lot, otherwise my body would not be able to withstand it.
"Commander, there's a guest who wants to see you." Yang Junran had just walked out of the military supplies warehouse when Fang Hanchen came running from afar and said.
Yang Junran looked at Fang Hanqin with a puzzled expression, he couldn't think of who would come looking for him at this time.
Could it be that the Japanese army wants to recruit him? Yang Junran looked at the distant houses and couldn't help but think of this.
"Who is it? Has he shown his identity?" Yang Junran adjusted his military uniform and said to Fang Hanchen behind him while walking.
Fang Hanqin shook his head and said: "The other party wants to see you before revealing their identity."
Yang Junran couldn't help but smile wryly and quickened his pace.
Inside the headquarters.
Although it's simple and crude all around, the furniture is still quite complete.
A young man with a good appearance is waiting inside.
The young man was not very big, but he looked like he was over twenty years old. A pair of eyes vigilantly scanned the surroundings, occasionally glancing at the sentry outside.
Before long, the young man saw a lieutenant general walk in.
Young people are very self-satisfied, thinking they are already quite outstanding, but after seeing Fang Hanqin, they suffered a not small blow.
After seeing Yang Junran, there was even a hint of jealousy on her face.
"This is our Commander Yang Junran." The young man said as Fang Hanchen walked over.
"Commander Yang, I am Colonel Choi Jeong-myeong, a special agent from the Military Affairs Bureau. I have come specifically to visit Commander Yang and deliver a letter of appointment from the Chairman." The young man did not hesitate and directly stated his identity, while taking out a document from his pocket and handing it over to Yang Junran.
"Major General Commander?" Yang Junran looked at the document and didn't think that the Chairman had given himself any benefits.
"Commander Yang, this is just the beginning. As long as you accept the appointment of the Chairman, your guerrilla column will directly receive replenishment and deployment from the Military Commission. In other words, your troops will be detached from the Second War Zone's establishment and directly under the leadership of the Military Commission." Cui Zhengming hastily explained, looking at Yang Junran's expression.
"Hmm, I understand." Yang Junran could imagine the mood of the committee chairman. He had consecutively eliminated Japanese troops and achieved many victories, but at this moment, on the main battlefield, although they had annihilated more Japanese soldiers than he had, they were still retreating in defeat. The chairman needed to establish a model to boost morale.
He is now undoubtedly a focal point, and even Yan Xishan, the commander of the Second War Zone, would be eager to bring him under his command.
Although they are now all under the unified command of the Chairman and jointly resisting Japan.
However, the divisions between each faction are still very clear. Who doesn't want their subordinates to bring honor and achieve more victories to report back to the people of the nation?
"Commander, a telegram from General Yan Xishan of the Second War Zone, inquiring about our troop's organization and reassigning some troops to me again. He also appointed Commander Zhou Yulan as Lieutenant General, and the telegram has been reported to the Military Commission." A communication soldier walked over and said to Yang Junran.
Chui Zhengming's eyebrows furrowed slightly, fortunately his footsteps were quick, otherwise these people would have fallen into Yan Xishan's hands.
"Commander Yang, Chairman is still waiting for your response." Cui Zhengming was getting anxious and took out the Chairman's hat.
Yang Junran sat on the chair, now undoubtedly had to choose an official.
Fang Hanchen looked at Yang Junran beside him, wondering what choice he would make.
"Director Choi, come on over and take a seat for a moment, don't gather everyone just yet. Actually, whether it's the Second War Zone troops or the Military Commission troops, aren't they all under the command of the Chairman? We're all fighting under the Chairman's command anyway." Fang Hanqin walked over with a smile and said to Cui Zhengming.
Choi Jeong-myeong saw Yang Jun-nyeon's expression and was somewhat puzzled. According to other irregular military leaders, receiving such favor from the Chairman should have made them extremely happy and immediately agree to all requests. However, the young man in front of him seemed not to be summoned at all, although he had some doubts on the surface, Choi Jeong-myeong still saw Yang Jun-nyeon's composure.
Yang Junran was a bit skeptical at this moment, but he was very happy. He had never received such attention before. Sitting on the chair, his mind was already blooming with joy.
