Chapter 8: First Battle
"Shut up, you think you can intimidate us with your words when you don't even have the capability? I'm telling you, we've fought in many tough battles before. Back then, we didn't even take thousands of little devils seriously, let alone just a few hundred devil soldiers here." Chen Qiaoru shouted loudly at Yang Junran.
Ever since Yang Junran arrived here and expressed his concerns, Chen Qieru scolded him without hesitation, not putting the colonel in her eyes at all.
Yang Junran silently looked at Zhou Yulan beside him, hoping she could make an accurate judgment.
"Call Meng Yumei over." Zhou Yulan said softly, looking at Chen Qioru beside her.
"Sister, why are you listening to him?" Chen Qiao Ru said with a displeased face, looking at Zhou Yu Lan.
Zhou Yulan just smiled and didn't say anything.
Chen Qieru glared at Yang Junran and ran forward.
"After Chen Qiaoru left, Yang Junran said: 'Why don't I send a few people in to take a look and inform you of any situation in a timely manner.'"
Zhou Yulan shook her head and pulled out a small map from her body.
A few female soldiers walked over, Zhou Yulan pointed at the map and whispered a few words.
Yang Junran was thoroughly conquered by the woman in front of him. The woman's age should be around twenty-five, but the knowledge she possessed would not be less than that of any military officer, and in some aspects, it was even more outstanding.
Thinking that he was only 22 years old, Yang Junran smiled helplessly. Fortunately, his military ID said he was 25 years old; otherwise, these people probably wouldn't have listened to him at all.
Even now, some warriors still have some doubts about Yang Junran's young appearance.
Just as Yang Junran was thinking, a woman wearing ordinary peasant women's clothes walked over.
The woman looked at Yang Junran and walked directly over to Zhou Yulan's side.
The warriors beside Yang Junran had a lecherous look on their faces, gazing at the woman with lustful eyes.
It wasn't that this woman's appearance was particularly impressive, but rather her rustic peasant attire caught the attention of the soldiers.
"Yu Mei, choose a few who are skilled and go take a look. Be careful." Zhou Yulan said in a low voice as she saw the woman walking over.
Meng Yumei did not hesitate at all, nodded and walked over to one side.
Several female soldiers appeared around them, all dressed as rural women, which surprised Yang Junran greatly.
These female soldiers themselves had never noticed it, probably until they discovered it for themselves.
"Special Forces?" Yang Junran thought of this type of soldier in his mind.
When Yang Junran looked around, the troops that had been densely packed just a moment before had vanished.
Such a mysterious team had piqued Yang Junran's curiosity.
"Commander, it's said that they've all received military training. The previous provincial chairmen treated them as troops and trained them as such. After they fought against the Japanese army, the government specially sent a few instructors to them. It's also said that the Military Bureau dispatched troops here." Fang Hanchen looked at Yang Junran with doubt, saying in a low voice.
Yang Junran nodded, and couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration for the woman in front of him.
Gunshots have already sounded within the village, and Yang Junran has become worried.
Such a reconnaissance team cannot be lost because of this, and Yang Junran still hopes that they can train their own reconnaissance team.
Zhou Yulan beside him had no expression, she just kept pointing at the map in her hand.
Several female soldiers ran past again towards the surroundings, and after a while, the Bohorter infantry gun behind started firing.
There were explosions all over the village, and the Japanese army was also getting impatient.
Machine guns opened up with rapid fire, and two 70mm infantry howitzers also began firing illumination rounds.
Zhou Yulan and others have gone into hiding, looking at the village in front of them.
Yang Junran knew the battle had begun and wanted to give orders when a figure flashed before his eyes.
The warriors around hastily took out their weapons and protected Yang Junran's safety.
"Coward." Chen Qiao said, staring at the soldiers beside him.
It wasn't until the warriors took a closer look that they discovered the figure was actually Meng Yumei.
"Sister, there are Mongolian troops in the two villages around us, about 500 or more people, who have already reinforced here. There are Japanese ambushes in the village, and the exact number of people is not clear, but at least a few hundred people. Time is urgent, and each firepower point has not had time to investigate." Meng Yumei spoke up, her voice extremely cold.
Zhou Yulan's eyebrows furrowed, her eyes fixed on the map in her hand.
At this time, Yang Junran knew he had to take action, even if he was foolish.
"Commander Zhou, if you trust us, I'll take care of these Mongolian troops." Yang Junran walked over and said with a stern expression.
Zhou Yulan lowered her head and did not respond to Yang Junran's words.
Chen Qiao, who was standing beside her, said bluntly, "Just you guys, don't drag us down with you."
"Don't look down on others, our troops aren't pushovers either." Fang Hanchen, who had been silent for a long time, couldn't help but retort.
Chen Qieru stared at his own eyes and watched Fang Hanchin prepare to counterattack, but was stopped by Zhou Yulan.
"Commander Yang, the Mongolian army will be handed over to you. If it's really unbearable, you can retreat and I'll send troops to deal with it. Qiaoru, go arrange for an attack on the village immediately, tell the sisters to be careful." Zhou Yulan said, looking at Chen Qiaoru, Yang Junran said.
Yang Junran nodded and led Fang Hanchen out.
Chen Qieru also left soon after, and the surrounding gunfire became lively.
"Fang Hanchen, you lead a company to launch a frontal attack, the other two companies will attack from both wings, and quickly resolve the battle. Support the fighting in the village, I don't think they can withstand the enemy's attack." Yang Junran shouted loudly, holding his own Type 38 rifle.
Fang Hanqin did not hesitate at all, nodded and led the troops to start running.
The Mongolian army was numerous, and a troop of 500 people quickly started rushing over after the gunshot according to the prior agreement.
Among these people, there were also many Han Chinese.
Let's not talk about their combat effectiveness for now, but their equipment is quite good. They all have Type 38 rifles, the first few people are holding submachine guns, and the more than thirty people behind them are carrying several Type 92 heavy machine guns.
Far away, Fang Han-chin had already discovered this Mongol army and immediately gave the order to fire.
Three Czech-style light machine guns quickly opened fire and the Mongolian soldiers walking in front immediately fell down.
The rest of the Mongolian army quickly dispersed and hid, bullets rained down on Fang Hanjin's platoon like rain.
These Mongolian troops were obviously military-trained, with several heavy machine guns set up to continuously suppress the firepower of a company.
But they did not realize that the troops of two regiments had already turned around and were approaching them.
Six light machine guns swept across the Mongolian army lying on the ground from both wings, while the soldiers' rifles were firing continuously.
The Mongolian army hastily used light machine guns to intercept the warriors' charge, trying to repel their attack.
Yang Junran held his own semi-formal rifle and kept shooting at the Mongolian army in front of him.
It is said that the puppet army is easier to deal with, but judging from the current situation, it seems that annihilating this Mongolian army still has some difficulties.
"Three companies, call a few sharpshooters to strike the Mongolian army's machine gunners, and the rest of you advance with hand grenades." Yang Junran shouted loudly as he looked at the strong firepower of the Mongolian army.
After receiving the order of Sanlian, immediately adjust the troops who are charging themselves.
A dozen or so fighters broke away from their units and hid, starting to fire at Mongolian machine gunners.
The remaining warriors then pulled the wooden handle of their grenades and threw them at the Japanese soldiers.
Under cover of the dust raised by their galloping horses, the warriors charged swiftly forward.
With the shooting of the god gunner, the Mongolian army's machine guns were also suppressed.
The company led by Fang Hanqin also started a charge, and this time the Mongolian army's will to fight was not so strong.
Some of the Mongolian troops retreated, while Yang Junran began to tremble with fear.
Just now when I was nervous, it was better to think about how to let my subordinates rush over quickly.
Now his subordinates rushed forward, and Yang Junran began to feel a little scared.
This is no game, being hit by a bullet will kill you.
Thinking of his own experience, Yang Junran couldn't help but want to scold again.
"Don't shoot, we surrender."
"Put down your gun, don't move."
The voice in front had already reached Yang Junran's ears, which made him have to start thinking about the problems he would face next.
Apart from a small number of Mongolian soldiers being shot dead, most of the Mongolian army chose to surrender.
Yang Junran knew that if he didn't launch a swift attack, these people would not surrender.
"Let's ask him and see if he has any useful information." Yang Junran looked at the captive crouching on the ground and said to Fang Hanchen beside him.
Fang Hanqin nodded and started capturing a few Han people to answer his own questions.
"Don't kill me, I'll tell you everything. We are troops from the 9th Division of the Mongolian Army, temporarily dispatched here. There are three companies of Imperial Army in the village, with machine guns and artillery, as for the rest, I really don't know. I'm doing this job because I have no choice." A soldier answered immediately without being asked.
Yang Junran looked at the soldiers and smiled helplessly. With such soldiers, what kind of morale can they have? If it weren't for these officers keeping watch, more than half of them would have run away already.
"Do you know where the enemy's command center is? Why are you traitors?" Yang Junran looked at the soldiers and asked sternly.
"It's all in the past, we were forced to do it. If we didn't take on this task, the Japanese soldiers would have cut off our heads with their swords, and we had no other choice. Their headquarters wouldn't tell us low-ranking soldiers anything." The soldier looked at Yang Junran and said dejectedly.
Yang Junran furrowed his brow and hesitated, looking in the direction of the village.
He knew his troops had to be reinforced immediately, otherwise they would be in trouble.
