Chapter 4: Biohazard (Four)

  Chapter 4 Biohazard Crisis (Four)

After the pacifier was stuffed into her mouth, Xiaobao finally stopped crying and held the bottle in both hands, drinking with a "glug glug" sound.

Luò Kě let out a long sigh, serving this ancestor was more exhausting than killing zombies in the apocalypse. She slumped down beside Xiǎo Bāo Zi without any elegance, pulled out a bed sheet from her backpack and wrapped it around herself.

The little bun has grown teeth, probably because of the itchy gums. Now he likes to nibble on everything, which is fine for ordinary people, but for a picky eater like her, if she accidentally bites something, that would be a big deal.

After carefully checking one side, all the muscles exposed on her body were covered up. Luo Ke nodded in satisfaction, swung her long tongue back behind her, and stretched out her hand to hug the small package that had finished drinking milk into her arms.

Having eaten and drunk enough, the little bun was also sleepy. Rubbing his eyes, he let out a soft "ah" and stuffed his small hand into his mouth, shrinking into Luo Ke's embrace to sleep.

The little bun soon fell asleep, and Luo Ke gently placed him in the cradle. As soon as he lay down, he turned over and lay on his stomach, sleeping soundly.

Luò Kě twitched the corner of his mouth, this guy is only honest when he's sleeping.

Although Luo Ke's combat power was very strong at this time, she didn't dare to be careless. After all, in such a world, one could easily fall into an abyss of no return if they weren't careful. She carefully sealed off all the entrances to the villa and then found several clean quilts from the rooms inside, spreading them on the ground before gently placing Xiao Baozi, who was fast asleep, on top of the quilts.

After everything was done, the sky had already darkened, and the villa was pitch black. Xiao Bao was sleeping soundly on the quilt, while Luo Ke lay on the floor beside him, watching Xiao Bao sleep, listening to the distant wails of zombies, and slowly closed his eyes.

The night was deep, and the desolate wilderness was quiet. Suddenly, a dazzling light cut through the night sky, accompanied by the rumble of an engine, and an off-road vehicle emerged from the darkness.

The off-road vehicle was covered in dark bloodstains, and the strong smell of blood filled the air. Inside the car were three men and two women. The driver, a man about twenty-five or six years old, looked exhausted, with red eyes that seemed to have not rested for a long time.

"Tonight, we must find a place to settle down and get some rest." The man sitting in the passenger seat spoke up, his age being the oldest among the group. A ferocious scar ran from the corner of his eye to the corner of his mouth, giving him a menacing appearance. His tone was authoritative, leaving no room for doubt, it was clear that he was the leader of the group.

The others did not object, after all, they had managed to break out of the zombie's encirclement and had been driving for seven or eight hours in a row. At this point, they were already exhausted, and if they didn't get some rest, tomorrow's journey was uncertain.

Not far from where they had started, a villa appeared before their eyes. Several people were shocked and the man who was driving stepped on the gas pedal hard, causing the car to shoot out like an arrow.

Luoke's sleep was already light, and now this body's keen sense of hearing made her wake up to the sound of a car engine just outside, Luoke opened her eyes and quickly pulled the small package beside her into her arms, looking vigilantly at the door.

Outside the door came the sound of footsteps and several people speaking in hushed tones.

  It's terrible, it's human.

Luò Kě at this time also couldn't care about anything, quickly picked up the scattered items on the ground such as the baby carrier backpack and put them on his back, then hugged the small package and flew towards the upstairs.

Luoke always remembered her identity, and with her current appearance, she would rather encounter zombies than humans.

As a scavenger, Luo Ke had lost the ability to speak. When she appeared in front of humans, they would face her with gunfire. Although she was thick-skinned and didn't fear pain, it was hard to guarantee that no bullets would hit her vital spots, and if so, her life would be over.

What's more, she now has a little bun to take care of.

By the time Luo Ke barely hid upstairs, those people had already broken in through the door.

Darkness meant nothing to Luo Ke, she hid at the corner of the stairs and took in the appearance of those few people clearly.

A few people walked in and closed the door, then moved the sofa over to block it. Luo Ke rolled her eyes, these people's vigilance wasn't great, entering a house without checking if there were any zombies inside first, what was the point of closing the door?

Luò Kě didn't think that those people, seeing the doors and windows sealed shut, would assume there was someone inside, so they didn't check the room first. After all, in this world, zombies are recognized as being without intelligence, how could they have thought of a freak like Luò Kě existing?

After blocking the door, Jack turned on the flashlight he was carrying with him, and the dim light illuminated the scene in the living room. When they saw the messy blankets spread out in the living room, several people exchanged a look, pulled out their guns from their pockets, and stood guard vigilantly.

After checking all the kitchens and bathrooms downstairs, no one was found, and several people stared at the stairs leading to the second floor.

"We'll go up." Jack said in a low voice, they were going to rest here tonight and didn't want any unexpected surprises, so they would clean the house first.

As for Jack's sinister tone, several people have become accustomed to it. In this post-apocalyptic world, sometimes the living are more terrifying than zombies. Without knowing who else is in the house, they will find it difficult to rest easy tonight.

Watching those few people walking upstairs, Luo Ke turned around and rushed upstairs. What a joke! From the tone of these people, it's clear that they're not good guys. If she was discovered by them, what good outcome could there be?

Lu Ke hadn't had time to look around, but the houses in America all have similar layouts. This house should have an attic, at the end of the corridor, and sure enough, he saw the ladder leading up to it. He quickly climbed up, put the small package aside, hastily pulled the ladder up, and closed the attic door.

After Luo Ke had finished everything, those people came to the second floor and checked all the rooms without finding any trace of a person, then they went downstairs.

Luò Kě's body was quite large, and she was squeezed into the small attic, which made her feel a bit cramped. It was clearly her discovery first, but it had been occupied by those few people. Thinking about it, it was really frustrating. However, who let the current situation be stronger than humans? If there were several zombies below, she would have slapped them away with one paw long ago, so why was it like this now?

The little bun in her arms slept soundly, Luo Ke stretched out his hand and gently pinched the chubby little face, for this little guy, she endured.

  "Wah wah wah......"

The body of a glutton is much stronger than that of a human being, and even if he doesn't sleep all night, it won't hinder him. At dawn, when the sky was just getting light, Xiaobao woke up, perhaps thinking of urinating. With his eyes closed, he began to cry loudly.

  It's all over!
