Chapter 48: The Great Play Begins

Volume 1: Gathering Winds of Splendor Chapter 48: The Grand Play Begins

Ling Yi Hen's wandering mind, which had flown to the clouds outside the nine heavens, was pulled back to reality by Yue Zheng Xi's words. He saw An Xin smiling with a hint of mischief, and a thin blush spread across his jade-like face. Feeling somewhat uneasy, he shifted his gaze away from An Xin's.

She raised an eyebrow in surprise and delight, never expecting that one day she would see the man blush, a truly rare sight.

"Where are Mrs. He and Hao Ying now?" An Liancheng raised his hand to signal Cloudy Moon to stand up.

"In the Ruyi Pavilion, I have already asked the imperial physician to come and diagnose. Cloudy Moon slowly got up, but suddenly stumbled, seemingly because her knees had gone numb from kneeling for too long, and her body unstable, she fell straight into An Liancheng's arms."

An Liancheng unconsciously moved his feet, causing Yun Mingyue to pounce on nothing. Yun Mingyue's footsteps couldn't stop, her legs softened and she fell to the ground, face down. In an instant, she had intimate contact with the land!

She was stunned for a moment, then burst out laughing loudly, her laughter filled with unspeakable joy, the loud sound startling the birds perched on the trees of Mingyue Pavilion.

"Princess Cloud Moon, your father told you to get up, not to kowtow! Are your ears not working properly or is your brain too dull that you misunderstood your father's meaning?" An Xin laughed so hard she was gasping for breath, one hand covering her belly and the other pointing at Cloud Moon who was on all fours.

Ling Yi Hen burst out laughing, even the usually calm and composed Yue Zheng Xi couldn't help but curve up the corners of his lips, a joyful atmosphere spreading across their faces! Ling Su Su and An Mu Chen exchanged a glance, both seeing thick laughter in each other's eyes.

Apart from Yun Mingyue's dark guard, everyone in the courtyard had a more or less amused smile on their face.

At the moment when Yun Mingyue fell to the ground, her mind was already dizzy, a blank sheet, and the pain transmitted from her body was far less unbearable than An Liancheng's action of avoiding her. Yun Mingyue lay on the ground for a long time without getting up, and it would be better to say that she was unwilling to face this cruel fact: General Ning would rather have her fall down than accept her touch.

"Father, a beauty throws herself into your arms and you actually push her away. What a waste of heavenly material!" The air that had been stuck in his throat finally dissipated a bit, and the light of schadenfreude danced on his face, but his tone was one of utmost sympathy.

"I don't think she's beautiful, far inferior to Xiner's sister!" Ling Yihen muttered before An Liancheng could speak.

An Lian Cheng glared at the two of them, who were stirring up trouble everywhere, and ordered the maid standing in the corner of the courtyard, "Hurry up and help your master!"

Those two maids had been frightened stiff, and upon hearing An Lian Cheng's voice, they finally came to their senses and hastily walked over to Yun Ming Yue's side. One of them supported one of her arms, half-lifting her up!

"Have Lady Ru and Hao Feng come over!" An Liancheng said to a guard.

"Jin Yu'er, Yan Yu'er, bring over a few stools, the best show today is about to begin! Also, get some melon seeds and honey candies, I want to watch with relish!" An Xin saw the guards quickly leave, then turned around and said to Si Jin and others not far away.

"Why does Xiang Er always have such a strange nickname?" Ling Yi Hen asked as he walked over.

"Don't stir up trouble, why do you like to interfere everywhere?" An Xin gave him a sideways glance, waved her hand and let him keep his distance. "Hurry up! Move into Mingyue Pavilion, Qingxin Pavilion is too far!"

Si Jin and Si Yan listened to An Xin's instructions, which were reassuringly considerate of others' feelings. A drop of sweat rolled down from their forehead as they looked up to see An Xin's unyielding gaze, so they had no choice but to enter the room and quickly bring out several round stools.

"Mother, brother, please sit down!" An Xin wiped the smooth stool with his sleeve and carefully pulled Ling SuSu and An MuDust to sit down.

"What about me?" Ling Yihen saw that An Xin and the other two had all sat down, but didn't seem to care about anyone else, so he couldn't help but ask anxiously.

"The seats are all sold out, either wait for the next train or just stand." said the carefree one with his legs crossed and not even turning his head.

Le Zheng smiled lightly in the evening, picked up a stool from a not-too-distant place beside him, placed it next to An Xin's side, lifted his robe, and sat down slowly and steadily, very close to An Xin.

"Hey, move over, the seat next to Xīn'er is mine, let me through!" Líng Yì Hén saw that Lè Zhēng Xī had taken the initiative and couldn't help but get angry, speaking in a huff.

"What law states that only you can sit next to Xīn'er? Don't blame others for your own slow hands and feet!" Lè Zhēng said with a slight smile, glancing sideways at ānxīn who was fidgeting with her legs.

She took a reassuring glance at Ling Yihen, who was fuming with anger, and then cast a sideways glance at Yue Zhengxi, who was carefree and content. She rolled her eyes and muttered, "You're meddling in other people's family affairs just to join the excitement, you must be bored out of your minds!"

"Xin'er, little sister, you haven't returned to the capital in many years, and things have changed drastically. With me by your side, you'll be safer, won't you?" Ling Yihen found an empty stool and sat down with a flourish.

"Who else can bully me?" An Xin hummed a tune, unimpressed.

"Which household doesn't have two people who are not easy to deal with? Look at that woman opposite you, she looks like a beggar, but although she's ugly, her courage is great. Her eyes seem to want to swallow you whole, aren't you afraid?" Ling Yihen slanted his eyes and looked at Yun Mingyue, covered in dust, reminding him.

Don't worry, just follow his line of sight and look over, only to see Yun Mingyue, a pair of eyes wide open, staring at her with a gloomy expression. "Princess Mingyue was rejected by her father and suffered severe psychological trauma. Why do you need to rub salt on her wounds? Besides, it's not her fault that she's ugly. Although she jumped out and scared people, which is a bit wrong, we shouldn't discriminate against her either. We should forgive her brainless behavior with a broad mind!"

Upon hearing this, Ling Yi Han burst out laughing and saw that Yun Ming Yue's face had turned completely green. For a moment, his laughter became even more unrestrained, echoing throughout the entire Bright Moon Pavilion, and the tense atmosphere was eased by his carefree laughter.

Ling Susu smiled triumphantly, humming a tune as she waited for the big show to begin, undaunted by the warning glances cast her way.

The dark guards and maids watching from the courtyard exchanged glances, bewildered by An Xin's sudden transformation. Just moments before, she had been radiating an aura of murder, like a goddess of war, but now she seemed to have changed into a completely different person - warm, harmless, with a smile on her face and a sparkle in her eyes, as if everything that had happened before was just their imagination.

"The maid servant greets the general, the embroidered lady, the bright moon lady, the princess of Chang'an, the king of An, the young prince Ning, and the son of music!" A woman in a plain white dress, with no makeup on her face, stepped into everyone's line of sight, her soft voice accompanied by a gentle bow.

Is she Mrs. An? An Xin thought to himself, An Liancheng's good fortune is not shallow, even a concubine looks so extraordinary and charming!

"How is Hao Feng? Where was he injured?" An Liancheng asked with a calm expression.

When she heard someone mention her son, Mrs. Chiang's eyes welled up with tears and she burst into sobs before she could even speak.

Relax, another Oscar-winning actress, these women are more fierce than professional trained actors, they cry as soon as they say cry, without any emotional buildup at all, is it that their tear glands are more developed?

"General An is calling you back, why are you crying? You're annoying Ben Wang!" Ling Yi's eyebrows were furrowed into a ball of knots, saying impatiently.

The woman's sobbing suddenly stopped, and she looked at Ling Yihen with a fearful gaze, her eyes still rolling down like beads of broken thread.

"General An, I really don't know how you can stand these two women? One is making a fuss over nothing, and the other is crying and pretending to be pitiful. Such behavior isn't even worthy of serving as a maid for the imperial aunt, it's disgusting!" Ling Yihen turned his head away, not wanting to look at Ruhua's tear-stained face.

She smiled with a sense of relief, finding Ling Yi Hen more and more likable. She turned her head to face him, letting out a low, unrestrained laugh, the corners of her mouth curving upwards, revealing her excellent mood.

Ling Yi Hen received a silent and reassuring encouragement, his eyes flashed, and he responded with a hooked smile.
