Volume 1: Gathering Wind and Flowers Chapter 2: Rebirth with a Peaceful Mind
Under the blue sky, the towering mountains are still so lush and green despite having gone through wind and rain. At the foot of the mountain, a cluster of thriving white poplars stand tall. By the river, an ancient dwelling is surrounded by green grass, looking elegant and unique.
"Don't worry, where are you going? You're just a little girl, running wildly all day, without any semblance of a lady. Come back to me quickly!" In front of the gate of a residential house, a beautiful woman wearing a coarse linen dress and with a simple bun on her head shouted loudly at the figure of a woman who had already run far away.
The carefree girl turned around, stuck out her tongue playfully and made a mischievous face. Her two little legs moved even faster, and in the blink of an eye, she was gone without a trace.
The beautiful woman had no choice but to turn around and go back into the house to cook.
Lying comfortably on a lush green lawn, with a blade of dogtail grass in her mouth, listlessly chewing on it, her small face was delicate and refined, with a pair of bright black eyes shining brightly, full of spirit, the tender face bearing an unusual maturity for her age.
It's been five years since she came to this world, and I don't know if it's because of the heavens' sympathy for her previous life being too tiring and bitter, so in this life they gave her a peaceful and serene life.
In this quiet little mountain village, there is no intrigue or deception, no life-or-death battles, although the days are a bit austere, she enjoys this late-in-life peace.
It just so happens that this body's name is also An Xin, who died five years ago after falling into the water, and he himself was reborn by chance.
Lift your head to gaze at the azure sky, white clouds drifting by, little birds chirping away, and my heart becomes a bit more carefree. The gentle breeze blows, rustling the hair on my forehead, making it dance, and tickles my cheeks slightly.
"Alright, so you're here. Let's go dig up some bird eggs." Just as An Xin was about to drift off to sleep, a loud and boisterous voice rang out.
I guessed who it was and, feeling at ease, rolled my eyes lazily, too lazy to bother with them, and continued to meditate.
"Relax, let's go, it's so boring with just me." The voice sounded beside her ear.
"I say you're such a big man, always running after me, are you infatuated with me or in love with me?" An Xin flipped over, turning his back to the person, saying impatiently.
"Hehe, I've had the idea of marrying you as my wife, are you willing?" The man's rough voice turned soft and endearing.
The rare quiet time was disrupted, and she couldn't help but sit up, facing the person who came in. She carefully looked him up and down several times, staring at him until he felt uncomfortable. Only then did she slowly open her mouth to say, "Liu Xuan, are you lacking calcium since childhood? Now you're lacking love. Take a good look at yourself - you've got a strong back and waist, but your brain is as dull as a monkey's on the mountain. Marrying you would lower the IQ of our future children. Wake up, don't talk nonsense in broad daylight."
Liu Xuan automatically ignored the language he couldn't understand, and was at ease when some words he didn't understand at all came out of his mouth. She said it was Martian script, anyway he didn't know what Martian script meant.
A bit anxious, Liu Xuan looked at his own arms and legs, indeed they had become stronger. "Don't worry, being strong is not bad, right? Look how masculine I look!" After saying that, he even showed off his thick arms with a big grin.
"What's the use of having a strong body? Is it for killing and eating meat during Chinese New Year?" An Xin said lazily as he lay back down on the ground.
"From now on, I can protect you, and no one in this village will dare to bully you." Liu Xuan said with a serious face.
"Have you found anyone in the village who dares to bully me? Has your family's big yellow dog eaten your IQ?" An Xin said with contempt, glancing at him.
Liu Xuan scratched his head in embarrassment, indeed, in this village, as long as someone heard her name, they would run away without hesitation, who would still dare to crash into her gun muzzle.
"Then I'll marry you, okay?" Liu Xuan said with a silly grin. There were people in the village who married into their wife's family, and if his partner was An Xin, he would be willing to do the same for her family.
She felt like a scholar meeting a soldier, relying on her accumulated experience of two lifetimes, her tongue was very nimble, she wasn't afraid of anyone, except for this silly boy, no matter how straightforward you spoke, it would always be twisted to the Pacific Ocean by him.
Defeated again, he let out a relaxed sigh and sat up with a serious expression on his small face. "We're just a few years old, and we're already discussing this? Are you developing too early, or am I just not keeping up with your inhuman thought process?"
"I'll be 14 after the New Year, and you're already 10. The granddaughter of Old Wang next door got married at 13, so we can arrange our engagement now." Liu Xuan said seriously.
She was so angry that she felt like cursing loudly, but Liu Xuan was someone she had grown up with since she was five years old. They had caught loaches together, dug up bird eggs, fought, and even sneaked a peek at the village chief's daughter taking a bath. In modern terms, he was her childhood sweetheart. How could she possibly scold him to death?
He cursed in a subtle way, but he couldn't understand it. When he cursed more explicitly, she felt embarrassed, after all, Liu Xuan had helped her several times since childhood. Last time when she was caught peeking at the village head's daughter taking a bath, it was him who took the blame.
"Let's go dig up some bird eggs instead." An Xin changed the subject, saying this guy had a special fondness for eating bird eggs since he was young, and his greatest hobby was climbing trees to dig them up.
"Alright, let's hurry up and be at ease." Liu Xuan was indeed deceived, instantly forgetting the topic from earlier, his eyes lit up as he hastily said.
