Volume 1: Gathering Winds of Splendor Chapter 16: A Person from the Devil's Teachings
"What's with that look in your eyes?" An Xin slanted her gaze at the man whose eyes were filled with playful and frivolous intentions, pouting her mouth in anger.
"A normal person's eyes, if you can't see clearly, please go see a doctor earlier." The man saw An Xin seemingly disliked the title "Miss" and lazily changed his tone.
"You're quite sensible." With a satisfied smile, he picked up a long branch from the ground and used it as a weapon to poke the man's waist, asking in an ancient manner, "Who are you? Report your name."
"Night owl." The man lay on his back on a large rock, with his hands clasped behind his head, and lazily spat out two words.
"Midnight snack?" An Xin was bewildered and raised his hand to scratch his wet hair, with a look of disdain on his face. "Does your mother like eating midnight snacks? This name of yours really has no class."
"The owl of the owls, not the night of the nights. The girl's cultural level needs to be improved." The night owl flipped its eyelids, with a look of disdain on its face, identical to An Xin's, "What does 'class' mean?"
"This girl naturally knows, no need for you to teach me. I think you'd better be called Night Eagle, Night Bird, or Night Owl, anyway they are all flying animals." An Xin snorted disdainfully, she had always been the one who looked down on others, how dare this stinky man turn around and despise her? Doesn't know what's good for him.
"I'm terribly sorry, my surname can be taken from my father and changed by my mother. You're a maiden who's unfamiliar to me, don't make me do something that's difficult for you." Night Shadow thought the little girl in front of him was quite interesting, with a hint of smile at the bottom of his eyes, teasingly said, "If you're willing to marry me, changing your name or not is up to your heart's desire, how about it?"
"Langtu, don't be rude to my aunt. I won't fall for your tricks. Just because you have charming eyes doesn't mean you can flirt with everyone and cause trouble wherever you go." Anxin looked at the night owl on the rock with disdain, his life almost gone but still trying to tease a virtuous maiden. She threw down the branch in her hand, walked up to him, and asked condescendingly, "If you dare to speak nonsense again, I'll cut off the thing you use to harm women."
As soon as the words fell, the man's half-closed eyes suddenly opened wide, looking at An Xin in disbelief. An Xin's face was stern and serious, shaking his head and saying, "Miss, although you are not old, every woman must have a sense of shame. You are so unashamed and unembarrassed, it's really unbearable for me."
"Can't bear it, then don't bear it. If you have something to say, say it quickly. If you have gas, let it out quickly." An Xin raised her head to glance at the sky, then lowered her eyes and gave a white-eyed look to the old academic-looking man. She squatted down, grabbed his wrist, and her pale fingers deftly probed his pulse.
"What do you want to do? Are you going to use the art of Qihuang?" The night owl's narrow peach blossom eyes slightly condensed, and his pupils flashed with something, then curiously asked.
"Stop arguing." He said solemnly with his eyes cast downward, feeling the pulse beating.
The night owl was taken aback, raising her eyelids to carefully examine the woman in front of her. She couldn't be more than eleven or twelve years old, with a slender figure and delicate features that resembled a vivid watercolor painting. When she smiled, her bright eyes sparkled like the finishing touches on this masterpiece. But now, her face was stern, unyielding, and devoid of laughter, as if the carefree spirit from before had vanished into thin air, replaced by an icy aura that sent shivers down one's spine, making it seem as though the previous version of herself was just a mirage.
"Someone from the Devil's Cult?" He withdrew his hand calmly and asked with a heavy gaze.
"Why is the young lady so suspicious? I'm just a ordinary merchant's son, and when I was passing through this mountain, I encountered robbers. Luckily, I had learned some martial arts since childhood, so I managed to escape with all my might, but I didn't have anything to do with the demonic cult you mentioned." Night Hawk withdrew his gaze from An Xin's calm and clear black eyes, which somehow slightly stirred his heartstrings.
"Is that so? Alright." He responded with an ambiguous tone, then stood up and asked meaningfully, "How much internal energy is left?"
"Very few." Night Owl knew that An Xin didn't believe his words, and since she wasn't asking further questions, he honestly replied with a sigh of relief.
"This girl is going home, and I'll dry the clothes on my body with internal energy." An Xin's face had a sly smile again, she let out a light yawn, lazily said, her eyes glanced at Ye Xiao who was about to speak with an unsatisfied expression, and her hand that was hanging down covered his mouth, "You owe me."
The night owl only felt that his lips were lightly swept by a soft feather, and his heart was slightly itchy as if ants had crawled over it. His mouth involuntarily became a little dry, and he subconsciously pursed his lips.
Feeling a slight tingling sensation in the palm of her hand, she quickly withdrew it and sat down beside Ye Xiao with a nimble movement. "Hurry up, what are you staring at? Although I consider myself to have the beauty of a nine-heavenly fairy, after all, I'm still young. Could it be that my powers have recently increased, and my ability to entice souls has also improved?"
The night owl rolled her eyes, and she really admired her self-praising eloquence. The previous hint of tenderness in her heart was gone, and she couldn't help but prop herself up, lift her arm, and place her palm on the woman's back, using the limited true energy inside her body to slowly dry the wet clothes.
After a misty steam, An Xin felt the refreshing sensation spreading through his body. He shook his shoulders and stood up with a smile, saying "Thanks, but your internal energy is really not impressive, it's like a snail climbing a mountain, slow and ineffective."
Yexiao heard this and almost fainted again, he only had a thread of internal energy left to protect himself. He poured out his internal energy to dry her wet clothes, but didn't even get a word of gratitude in return. Instead, she turned around and mocked him, saying that he must be crazy to consider whether a little girl would catch a cold from wearing wet clothes.
