Chapter 23: The Legend of the Left Hand
Ye Chen was slightly stunned, looked up and saw that the one who had made the bid was a priest in white robes, nicknamed Left Hand Legend. This guy had a calm expression, seemingly not putting the fierce Tiger Roar and Dragon Ascending Star in his eyes at all.
Lie Hu's roar and Long Teng's slash of the stars heard that their faces changed one after another, staring with their eyes about to go find that bidder's bad luck. As the upper echelons of the two families, in Lie Shan City, there were really not many people who dared to be so ignorant of them.
However, when they saw that the bidder was Zuo Shou Shen Hua, both of them were slightly stunned for a moment, and then surprisingly put on a smile at the same time. Their words also became somewhat respectful, even fawning.
"I thought I was someone else, turns out it's Myth Brother."
"It's been a few days since I saw Myth Brother, and he still looks as elegant as ever. How did he have time to come here and stroll around today?"
The left hand grasped the waist of the charming female mage beside him, humming softly and saying carelessly: "If you're in a good mood, come out and take a stroll. I've taken a liking to this Red Dan, you two won't compete with me for it, huh? If you do, that's fine too, whatever price you offer, I'll just add 10 more gold coins."
What a big tone, Ye Chen blinked his eyes and looked up at Long Teng Jian Xing and Lie Hu Xiao, hoping they would help him raise the price, but what made him disappointed was that the two people who were just about to draw their swords had actually both become timid and smiled awkwardly without saying a word.
"Since you don't want it, I'll just have to decline with gratitude. Come on, kid, let's make a deal." Zuo Shou Shen Hua smiled slightly, his face showing a hint of complacency.
Ye Chen opened the trading window, and with a flick of his left hand, he tossed 400 gold coins into it without batting an eyelid. The carefree manner in which he treated money as dirt made the charming female mage beside him flush with excitement.
The transaction is complete, the legendary left hand doesn't even glance at Long Teng Jian Xing and Lie Hu Pao Xiao, embracing the charming female mage, they swagger away.
"Damn it."
"Poser."
Watching the left hand myth go away, Long Teng Jian Xing and Lie Hu Pao Xiao couldn't help but utter a dirty word, and the two looked at each other again, their eyes filled with helplessness.
The fierce tiger roared, seeing that the red dan had already been bought by someone. Ye Chen also had Long Teng's help, so he didn't need to stay here anymore. He could only glare at Ye Chen with a sense of resentment and say, "You'll know my power sooner or later." Then, he hastily left with his subordinates.
"Do you have a past with Lie Hu Pao Xian?" Long Teng Zhan Xing looked at Ye Chen, somewhat puzzled. Earlier, he saw Lie Hu Pao Xian's appearance, clearly showing that he had been defeated by Ye Chen. However, he really couldn't understand how Ye Chen, a small second-rate player in his teens, could make the twenty-odd leveled Lie Hu Pao Xian suffer a loss.
Ye Chen smiled faintly and said, "Nothing much, just hung up on him this afternoon and snatched a boss from him."
Long Teng Zhan Xing's eyes widened in astonishment, filled with an incredulous expression. He looked Ye Chen up and down, as if trying to re-familiarize himself: "A godly figure! I've had my eye on Lie Hu Pao Xia for a while now, but he always has a bunch of lackeys following him around, making it hard to make a move. Yet you managed to take him down under the protection of his minions? Impressive, a true master!"
"He was the first to take down that group of minions, and he was the last one standing." Ye Chen raised an eyebrow, speaking in a very calm tone, without mentioning the state of the high-level attack halo.
Long Teng Jian Xing's eyes widened in shock, staring at Ye Chen as if he had seen a ghost. His face was filled with astonishment, and he opened his mouth, but didn't know what to say.
Long Teng's star-slaying appearance made Ye Chen somewhat secretly pleased, as a mere bird, Ye Chen said that being regarded as an expert by others indeed gave him a sense of accomplishment.
"By the way, who was that left-handed legend just now? I saw you and Lie Hu seem to be a bit afraid of that kid. Is there any other force in Lie Shan City stronger than your Dragon Teng?" Ye Chen was curious about the guy who casually threw out 400 gold coins to buy his Red Color Dan.
"Joking, in Lie Shan City, there's no power stronger than our Long Teng, except for Lie Hu. It's said that those guys are also slightly weaker than us Long Teng." As soon as he mentioned his own family, Long Teng's face immediately regained its proud expression, but it quickly turned into a gloomy one. He said annoyedly: "You don't know, Zuoshou Shenhuai that piece of trash is an alchemist, a 5th-level alchemist, incredibly powerful. Not to mention our Long Teng, any family in Lie Shan City has to give him some face, who let us need something from him?"
Ye Chen was taken aback: "Is the alchemist really that impressive? I see that there are alchemists all over the streets near the Alchemist Guild, and shouldn't these big families have their own exclusive alchemists? Do you still need to ask for his help?"
Long Teng Jian Xing's face turned bitter as he spoke, and he began to complain to Ye Chen: "Alchemists are not impressive, but 5th-level alchemists are very impressive. Our family indeed has exclusive alchemists, but those idiots waste a large amount of materials every day and still haven't produced even one 5th-level alchemist, they're all just 4th-level morons, trash that's only good for being thrown away."
"What's the difference between 4th and 5th rank?" Ye Chen was somewhat perplexed; he really didn't understand much about his secondary occupation.
When Ye Chen asked this, Long Teng Xing didn't think it was unexpected. In fact, many combat profession players weren't clear about the deputy occupation. He explained: "The 4th to 5th level of Alchemy is a hurdle. After the 4th level, alchemy has a success rate. They all say there's skill involved, but I don't understand it either. However, I know that our family's idiots have been failing every day, wasting who knows how many materials without even one being able to rush to the 5th level. Actually, these are secondary issues. The main point is that a 5th-level Alchemist can refine some special potions. You know, before the 4th level, Alchemists could only refine ordinary blue and red recovery potions. But 5th-level Alchemists have an additional item - they can refine instant recovery and blue potions. Although there's a cooldown time, this thing is still a powerful tool for boss battles and PK. None of our guild members can do without it."
He sighed and continued, "The problem is that there are too few 5th-level alchemists in Lie Shan City now. There are only three in total, and two of them are from family guilds, so their products aren't sold outside. Only this guy is an individual player, so families without a 5th-level alchemist can only buy from him. However, his production is limited, and there's not enough to go around, so we have no choice but to cater to him."
"I think that guy is very rich." Ye Chen's heart moved slightly, he remembered that the Dan Fang price list had several kinds of elixirs with instant recovery effects, it seemed like there was a profit to be made! It looked like even the lowest level, first-grade elixir could be refined!
"Money? Of course, there's money. Every time he comes up with a batch of medicine, our families have to bid for it, and he makes a fortune. We're all just hoping that Lietou City can produce a few more masters who can refine Instant Recovery Medicine, so even if we spend the same amount of money, at least we won't have to suffer from this Left Hand God's arrogance."
Ye Chen nodded slightly, his face expressionless, but his heart was excited. The dog's 5th-level alchemy exclusive, and he, a first-level Dan-making master, could refine it. It seemed that his hidden secondary occupation was indeed very promising.
