Chapter 7 Mission

  Chapter Seven Mission

After receiving the task, I quickened my pace and arrived at the outskirts of the village, only to find that many people were already killing monsters. However, the objects they chose to level up with were the chickens raised by the villagers, which had low attack power but also gave pitifully low experience points in comparison.

I shook my head and continued to walk deeper into the forest outside the village, and after a few steps, I saw a group of wild dogs wandering around in twos and threes among the trees.

I drew out the broken sword from behind my back and hacked at the nearest wild dog!

  “6!”

The wild dog's head revealed a bright red number, it seems that this time is a fatal blow, otherwise with my highest attack of 3, I could deal such damage.

As expected, the subsequent attacks were all hovering between 2 and 3, fortunately, the wild dogs were only level 2 monsters, each dog had 30 blood, I still found it relatively easy to beat them.

  "Right!"

The first wild dog fell down, I rushed over and rummaged through its corpse, and found three copper coins and a piece of fur: Dog Skin - Quest Item!

It seems that this is the dog skin that Defense Soldier Hack needs, and from now on things will be much simpler. After killing a dog, I sit down to rest for a while, during which time my health recovers, although it's a bit slow, but at least it saves money, I reckon nobody can afford to buy medicine to level up nowadays.

It didn't take long to collect 20 dog skins, and after hunting wild dogs, no more task items were dropped. I had also leveled up to level 2, my attack power increased a bit, and my HP went from 60 to 80. It seems that every time I level up, my HP increases by quite a bit. After leveling up, I got 5 points, which I immediately added to my strength without hesitation. In the early stages, it's impossible for anyone to carry you, everything relies on yourself to kill, how can you survive with low strength?

As the village gets farther and farther away, more players come to kill wild dogs, but I find that most of them don't collect the dog skins. It seems that not many people know about this quest after all. The defense soldier just walks back and forth at the village entrance, without any indication of a quest on his face.

Ran back to the village, handed over the task, and only then discovered that the defense soldier was still quite generous, killing 20 wolves and giving 80 copper coins. At this time, money is quite important, starting from level 10, who knows how much money will be needed? Maybe not, or maybe one gold coin! (1 gold coin = 100 silver coins = 10,000 copper coins)

With last time's experience, I hastily made a round in the village, chatted with NPCs whenever possible, and sure enough, I received a quest!

  Mission: Blood Revenge

Task content: Help the village chief to eradicate the wolf pack in the wild wolf valley on the east side of the village, and bring back 50 wolf teeth to the village chief! Be extremely careful, it's best to find some companions before going, as the wolves there are quite ferocious, and many of the strongest young men in the village have already died under their teeth!

This task is a bit difficult, as it can be seen that the level of the wild wolf is not low, and the village chief also hints that it needs to be completed in a team. Well, let's put it aside for now, other tasks can be done instead.

  Task: Collect Tomato Fruits

Task content: Ahua in the village planted a lot of tomatoes on the mountain slope, but recently wild wolves often appear outside the village. Please help Ahua collect 10 tomatoes.

  Village Defense Mission

Mission: Kill the ferocious wild dogs outside the village and collect 20 dog teeth to give to Defense Soldier Hack!

  ……

Picking fruits and killing wild dogs shouldn't be a problem, anyway killing wild dogs isn't slow, doing quests while leveling up is also a good choice. The previous quest gave 200 experience, to think that killing one level 1 monster only gives 10 experience, handing in quests doubles the leveling speed compared to others~

I took a look at the players who were enthusiastically leveling up in the distance, and I didn't want to disturb their good mood (mainly because they were obviously a group, and if I joined in, I'd get PKed and lose face), so I went around the village from the east side and entered the forest. From afar, I could still see where Ah Hua planted tomatoes!

I killed a dozen or so wild dogs in a row, but none of them dropped any dog teeth. I was immediately somewhat depressed - could it be that the task is playing me?

I walked further into the woods and only then did I realize that the wild dog I killed earlier was still a level 1, while the one in front of me now is a level 3 monster: ferocious wild dog!

Speechless, he charged forward with a broken sword and struck his head with one sword!

  “3!”

The red numbers remind me that the defense of this 3rd-level wild dog is much higher than that of a 1st-level one. With my current 2nd-level attack, I can usually kill a 1st-level monster with more than five drops.

A level 3 wild dog has a total of 50 health points, which means I need to hit it with my sword 17 times to kill one monster, and its biting frequency is also quite high. Although each bite only causes me to lose 2 health points, by the time I finish killing one wild dog, my own health has already dropped to a low level.

  Experience + 30!

Squatting down to flip through the wild dog's corpse, I found that apart from 14 copper coins and a tooth, there was actually a tattered helmet. Picking it up to look at its attributes:

Wild Dog Leather Armor (White Equipment)

  Defense: +5

It's much better than the novice clothes I'm wearing, at least the defense is up a notch. I'll put it on right away, and it just so happens to be leather armor, which will still be useful after I become a thief. But thinking about it again, if I'm still wearing this when I reach level 10, that would be pretty pathetic.

After defense increased by 3 points, I can basically finish two wild dogs and sit down to rest. The wild dog's fangs are not every wild dog has them, when I killed about nearly 100 wild dogs, I finally collected 20 wild dog fangs!

I have to say that the drop rate in "Moon Constant" is really not high. When I killed over 100 wild dogs and leveled up to level 3, I didn't get any equipment except for a single piece of leg armor - Wild Dog Shorts, which has a defense +1 attribute, just like the beginner's leg armor. And it's a very uniquely styled shorts, I wonder what kind of expression Xu Lin would have if I gave her such an equipment?

I've reached level 3! My attack and defense have been slightly strengthened, it's also time for me to continue challenging higher-level monsters!

At this time, the 7-9 attack chopped 3-level wild dog can already come out with 8 damage, no need for ten knives to settle a three-level monster, the speed of upgrading is absolutely not comparable to those rookie who kill chickens at the village entrance.

Continue to move forward on the mountain slope behind the forest, and it's eerily quiet all the way, not even a shadow of a wild dog can be seen!
