Chapter 9: Wild Wolf Valley
The harvest of tomatoes exceeded my expectations, it turns out that in addition to collecting 10 as a task, you can also collect more as your own consumable items. Although the +0.5 blood per second doesn't seem like much, but thinking carefully, one minute can recover 30 points of blood without any effort, so training low-level monsters basically doesn't need to spend too many potions.
I spent a whole 10 minutes in the tomato field and finally picked all the tomatoes. Looking at the package, apart from the 10 used for the task, there were nearly 60 tomatoes. Calculating this way, I probably won't need to buy medicine for about 30 hours.
The tomato garden disappeared when I picked the last tomato, it seems that this task should be a one-time thing, otherwise the tomato land would not disappear.
I picked up my stuff and was about to leave for Wild Wolf Valley, when suddenly a wolf refreshed not far away. Upon closer inspection, it was the one that exploded three green equipment for me just now. What are we waiting for? Let's go!
Equipment level division in "Moon Constant": Divine Equipment, Spiritual Equipment, Orange Equipment, Purple Equipment, Blue Equipment, Green Equipment, White Attributeless Equipment, Gray Equipment. Generally speaking, from green equipment onwards, they will have some attributes attached. The white equipment I currently own has no attributes at all, and its inherent attributes are also much worse than those of the same level. For example, a 4-level white greatsword usually has an attack power of 3-4, but my beast longsword has reached an abnormal attack power of 7-12.
A loud "whoosh" sound, the long sword chopped onto the wolf's skull.
“-58!”
The red numbers are too cute! Just now, when I was level 3, the highest damage I dealt to a wild wolf was only 6 points. But this non-critical hit just now actually cut out a terrifying 58 points of damage. You know, this wolf's level is 4 levels higher than mine. Killing monsters above my level gives me an experience bonus, so if it goes on like this, won't I be leveling up at least twice as fast as a normal newbie?
The wild wolf immediately returned a claw to me, and the 6 points of damage it caused also made me extremely surprised. With my current blood volume of 168, I was already satisfied. The 8-level wild wolf's 450 blood made me finish it off in less than 10 attacks, and the total damage it caused me was only a little over 100. After eating a tomato, I didn't even need to sit down to recover my health!
After flipping through the wild wolf's corpse, I found that there was nothing except for 40 copper coins. However, the 240 experience points reward from killing a higher-level monster had already made me feel like I'm on cloud nine.
The back of the Tomato Garden is the Wolf Valley, and I continued to kill 8-level wolves on my way to the Wolf Valley. By the time I arrived at the Wolf Valley, I had quickly leveled up to level 5. However, it was frustrating that after killing nearly 20 wolves, I didn't get a single piece of equipment, only collecting 6 quest items - wolf teeth. Could it be that because I leveled up to 5, the drop rate of monsters increased? It wasn't until later that I realized that my full damage output against the level 8 monster greatly increased the drop rate. However, even with an increased drop rate, it shouldn't have dropped three green equipment from a single level 8 monster. This can only be explained by me having good luck.
I allocated the 5 points I got from leveling up to attack again, anyway, after I reach level 10 and get a job, it's not too late to add agility and wear thief's agile equipment, attack is always needed, so my attack has already reached 19-33, killing 8-level monsters is like cutting vegetables with a few swords.
A narrow mountain road appeared between two peaks, and according to the task display, this small road was the way to Wild Wolf Valley.
I cautiously looked around and walked along the small path, the rustling sounds from the bushes on both sides made me get goosebumps. The first night of "Moon Constant" had arrived, darkness fell on the land, and my field of vision became smaller and smaller. I didn't know if it was too reckless to choose to come to Wild Wolf Valley at night, but I couldn't wait until the next day. Otherwise, who knows how many players would rush into the valley? For a lone wanderer like me, if I didn't enter early, I would only be cleared out by others as soon as I arrived. This experience was common in the old game "Legend".
In the distance, a wolf larger than a Mongolian wild wolf was walking through the forest, and upon closer inspection:
Forest Wolf
Rank: 9
Attack: ???
Defense: ???
Category: Beast-type creature
……
It's a 9-level monster, 4 levels higher than me!
It ran a few steps forward and entered the wolf's field of vision, immediately alerting it to the invasion of other creatures into its territory, and turned around to sprint towards me at high speed.
Turn around, run away! Turn around again, draw sword!
"Hehe"
The voice told me that my movement dodged the gray wolf's bite, but my sword actually landed on its body, with a damage value of 62 floating high. In the gap between movements, I raised my sword again and another 62 floated up. This time, however, the wild wolf's claws landed on my body, dealing 11 points of damage that left me somewhat surprised. It seems that the attack power of level 9 monsters is much higher than that of level 8 monsters; otherwise, it wouldn't be possible for the attacks to double.
Running around and killing monsters is a pretty silly thing to do, but I've started doing it with gusto. Unintentionally, I seem to have noticed something, but can't quite put my finger on it. The game feels so real that even the monsters are being fooled by me.
“128!”
After a burst of attack, the gray wolf finally let out a mournful howl and fell to the ground, leaving me with a tooth and 63 copper coins. I carefully picked up the money, as game currency is very valuable at this stage. Perhaps in order to promote fairness, the exchange between real currency and game currency is not available within a month of starting the game. In other words, those rich kids also have to work hard to earn money from monsters just like us poor people.
Constantly wandering in the woods, as long as I carefully lure and kill each of the 9-level monsters one by one, there won't be any danger. My sensitivity to distance allows me to control the elasticity of luring monsters very well. Once a new monster appears nearby, I will run away with a group of ferocious wolves, which also adds some fun to the dull leveling process.
"Drip..."
A message came in and I took a look, it was from a female player named Qingcai Keke, but I didn't know who she was.
"Lin Fan, I'm Lu Xuehan, Lin sister asked everyone to gather in the hall, you find a safe place to log off!"
It turned out to be Lu Xuehan, I smiled and immediately added her as a friend, then logged off in a not-so-monster-infested area near the mountain slope's barricade.
