Chapter Twelve: The Morning Glory
After a while, Lin Wu arrived at the bottom of the pit. What was surprising was that this pit had signs of artificial excavation, and it was clearly not the work of those giant rats.
Although the underground cave is located underground, both ventilation and lighting are very complete, which makes Lin Wu able to see everything inside clearly even in the depths of the cave.
When Lin Wu saw everything in the pit clearly, he was stunned. There were several human skeletons in the pit, and those skeletons were intertwined with each other. One skeleton's hand had penetrated into another skeleton's chest cavity, showing how fierce the battle was at that time.
The broken and scattered weapons and equipment on the ground, Lin Wu picked up a broken sword with subtle energy fluctuations on it, which could be seen that this sword was originally extraordinary, and not only that, almost all the broken equipment around had some energy fluctuations.
"Magic Equipment!!" Lin Wu suddenly thought of the magic equipment that John had once mentioned.
However, this incomplete magic equipment has become a pile of scrap iron for many people. But it's not the case for Lin Wu, because he has a disassembler, which can decompose broken weapons and equipment, and at most produce fewer materials during decomposition. Moreover, decomposing magic equipment is exciting to think about.
All the weapons and equipment on the ground were stored in the wrist ring, Lin Wu carefully searched this pit, the giant rat would come to this pit when it was seriously injured, apparently there was something inside that could help it recover from its injuries, and a group of people with magic equipment were fighting here, if there wasn't anything good here, who would believe it.
After searching the entire cave inside and out, Lin Wu actually found some special things, including a faintly glowing grass that should be what the giant mouse was looking for, as well as a map.
Looking at the incomplete map in his hand, Lin Wu muttered: "Could it be a treasure map?"
He picked up the glowing grass and map, and Lin Wu took a last look at the pit before standing up and leaving. As he walked out of the pit and gazed out at the endless plains, Lin Wu was stunned - how would he get out of this vast expanse?
He had only been focused on escaping with his life, so Lin Wu hadn't even remembered the route. Even if he had, it would have been easy to get lost in the vast grasslands anyway. He let out a light sigh and randomly chose a direction before rushing off. "I hope I can find the merchant caravan," Lin Wu thought to himself.
Just after running for a while, Lin Wu suddenly felt a palpitation of the heart, and quickly bowed down. He stared at a majestic lion not far away, which was as big as an elephant. The giant lion lay lazily in the grass, its golden mane swaying like flames in the gentle breeze.
A chilling aura emanated from the giant lion, "4th-level magical beast, Blazing Lion." Lin Wu quietly swallowed his saliva. On this Windy Plain, apart from the countless mice that were a headache, there was also the king of this grassland, the Blazing Lion. Encountering mice was usually no big deal unless it was a mouse plague, but encountering the Blazing Lion almost certainly meant death.
4th-level demon beasts have already made a qualitative leap compared to 3rd-level demon beasts, just like the difference between a high-ranking swordsman and a great swordsman. In Lin Wu's words, it's like the difference between acquired and innate abilities, although they differ by only one level, their actual strength is vastly different.
Moreover, 4th-level magical beasts already possess some wisdom, making them even more troublesome to deal with. Even a great swordsman would find it difficult to defeat one of the same level.
Quietly crouching in the grass, Lin Wu carefully looked at the majestic Flame Lion, slowly backing away. Fortunately, the Flame Lion was apparently not hungry at this time, or maybe Lin Wu's strength did not pose a threat, so it completely ignored him.
"Whoa~~" ran far away, Lin Wu let out a long sigh, and in his heart, he couldn't help but rise up with a strong desire to become stronger. The majestic and proud attitude of the Blazing Lion had a huge impact on Lin Wu.
He took out some dry rations from his wristlet and ate hastily, then Lin Wu was about to set off. Suddenly, a huge column of smoke rose in the distance, and upon seeing the smoke, a hint of a smile appeared on Lin Wu's face.
Lin Wu rushed in the direction of the smoke column.
"Ah, it's been so long, I wonder if that little guy is going to be okay." Blake looked around anxiously.
After Breck killed those two level 1 giant rats, the other ordinary giant rats retreated. This battle ended with only a few mercenaries being bitten by the mice and no one died, which was absolutely a miracle. But Breck knew that all of this was because Lin Wu had drawn away the most troublesome level 2 giant rat.
The smoke signal had been burning for half a day, but there was still no sign of anyone, which made Blake anxious.
"Squad leader, shall we go out and search?" John said, seeing Blake's anxious expression.
"No way, at this moment there are only a few of us with fighting power left here. If we leave and encounter the giant rat again, won't these people be completely annihilated? I believe he will definitely return safely." Blake clenched his fist and said.
"Shasha, shasha......" Just then, a rustling sound came from not far away.
At the sound, Blake and others quickly drew their weapons, vigilantly staring into the distance. In addition to mice, there were some low-level magic beasts on the grassland, so they couldn't be careless.
However, when a figure appeared before Blake and others, a look of surprise appeared on Blake's face.
"I'm back." Lin Wu said with a smile.
"Come back safely." Blake muttered, then he took big strides towards Lin Wu, suddenly stretched out his hand and gave Lin Wu a loud slap on the head, "You little brat, you're looking for death, actually luring a level 2 magical beast."
Feeling Breck's deeply concerned tone, Lin Wu was stunned, and then Lin Wu said softly, "It won't happen again next time."
"John, take him and see if he's hurt," Blake said to John beside him.
"Yes, Captain." With that, John pulled Lin Wu away.
Along the way, John looked at Lin Wu with curiosity and said: "You little guy, you actually managed to escape from the mouth of that level 2 magic beast giant rat. You really have some skills! You don't know, do you? The captain was worried sick about you, this is the first time he's been like this since he failed to advance to great swordsman."
"Big Brother John, do you know why Captain Lin was not promoted?" asked Lin Wu.
"Ah, the captain was ambushed at a critical moment during his promotion, suffering internal injuries that made it impossible for him to be promoted in this life. And because of this, our mercenary group was originally C-level, but after the captain's failed promotion, those fair-weather friends left one by one, causing our mercenary group's ranking to drop. Now there are only a few comrades who have been through thick and thin with us." John recalled the captain's desperate expression back then, his hands involuntarily clenched tightly.
"Can it be cured?" Lin Wu asked softly.
"It's possible, but extremely difficult. The medicine needed to cure this wound is very precious, after all, it's a guarantee for any swordsman." John sighed.
"Oh, can you talk to me?" Lin Wu's heart moved, and he asked.
"Never mind, you have this heart and it's not in vain for the team leader to care about you. The medicine that the team leader needs is extremely rare. It's said that once appeared on the market, do you know how much gold coins were sold at that time? 3 million! Our mercenary group was at its peak in those years, and our annual commission was only over 100,000. 3 million would require us to go hungry for 30 years!" John said, taking out a picture from his pocket and handing it to Lin Wu Dao, "This is the medicine, called Chen Guang Cao."
Seeing the picture handed over by John, Lin Wu's eyes lit up and he secretly said: "So this is the Chen Guang grass."
