Chapter 6 Sparrow

  Chapter Six: The Greenhorn

Back at the inn, Lin Wu quietly pondered the information he had obtained from the auction house guard. The Rosy family, the first wealthy merchant of the Violet Kingdom, possessed wealth that surpassed even the national treasury of the Violet Kingdom.

And that woman, Lin Wu also got the news, Elina. Rose, the first beauty in the Kingdom of Roses, not only is she beautiful, but also kind-hearted and gentle to people, without any bad temper of nobles or rich merchants, her popularity in the entire Kingdom of Roses is even higher than the king's.

The location of the Rose family is in Violet City, which is also known as the City of Flowers and the capital of the Violet Kingdom.

  "Jinzhou City." Lin Wu muttered.

Now that he knew the destination, Lin Wu didn't want to waste any more time. However, this place was too far from Zijing City, and Lin Wu himself knew that with his own strength, he couldn't reach Zijing City at all. Therefore, following a team to go to Zijing City was the right way to do it.

Thinking of this, Lin Wu immediately walked out of the inn and headed towards the most crowded place.

"Mercenary Guild." Lin Wu gazed at the simple building in front of him, except for the four large characters and the flow of people coming and going, it was almost impossible to tell that this was the largest organization on the entire continent.

Lin Wu came here naturally wanting to become a mercenary, as many merchant caravans needed to hire mercenaries for escort, and there were not a few going to Zijing City.

"10 silver coins." The waiter spoke up as Lin Wu was about to register as a mercenary.

Hand over one-fifth of your property, and the servant brings out a form saying: "Name?"

  Lin Wu.

  "Occupation?"

"...the swordsman." Lin Wu said with a pause.

"What level?" The waiter sized up Lin Wu and asked.

"What level?" Lin Wu was taken aback.

Upon hearing Lin Wu's words, the attendant lowered his head and wrote down "Apprentice Swordsman" in the occupation level column.

After filling out the form, the waiter handed Lin Wu a manual and a badge, saying: "This is the mercenary manual with your record on it, this is the badge."

"Thank you." Lin Wu took the thing and left.

"Another hot-blooded young man who doesn't know life or death." The waiter muttered as he watched Lin Wu leave.

Wearing his badge, Lin Wu began searching for a merchant caravan heading to Zijing City in the Task Hall. Before long, one task caught his attention.

"That's it!" Lin Wu exclaimed excitedly.

Caravan escort mission, task level unlimited, payment based on strength, destination Plum Blossom City.

Quickly going to the counter to receive the task, Lin Wu hastily ran to the gathering place of that merchant group.

"Are you a mercenary taking on quests?" The merchant of the caravan looked up and down at Lin Wu, whose mercenary handbook clearly showed that he was a super rookie.

  "Yes." Lin Wu nodded.

"Alright then, but this time the reward is 10 silver coins, will you accept it or not?" The merchant gave a very low commission.

"No problem." Lin Wu didn't care about the pay at all, as long as he could go to Zijing City.

"We'll set off at dawn tomorrow, don't forget to assemble, otherwise your task will be considered a failure." the merchant said.

He came out of the merchant group and saw that it was still early, Lin Wu touched the 39 silver coins left on his body and walked towards the market, he needed to prepare some items.

With the storage wristband, Lin Wu stored those items in it, eliminating the trouble of carrying a large number of packages. After preparing everything, Lin Wu returned to the inn and continued practicing his skills.

At dawn, Lin Wu got up early, today was his first mission, which originally only existed in the middle, now Lin Wu finally had a chance to experience it personally, and he was naturally excited.

Arriving at the merchant group's campsite, Lin Wu handed over his mercenary handbook and officially became a member of this escort mission.

"Hey, rookie over there, I'm talking to you! Come here!!" Just as Lin Wu was curiously looking around at everything, a voice came from not far away.

"Right, it's you, don't just stand there stupidly, come over and gather." Just as Lin Wu was stunned, the voice continued.

Lin Wu finally understood that the voice was referring to himself as a rookie, and at this moment, a large crowd had gathered there. Lin Wu quickly ran over.

"Here, rookie, from now on you'll be under my care for the time being." A middle-aged man said to Lin Wu as he rushed over to the crowd.

"Haha, John, your team is all rookies, you're almost becoming a nanny." A stout, bald-headed man laughed and said from not far away.

"Baldy, you're no better than me," said a middle-aged man named John with a smirk.

Upon hearing the conversation between the two, Lin Wu looked around and discovered that all the mercenaries had been divided into several groups of about ten people each. However, the group Lin Wu was in only had five members, including himself. Looking at the mercenary badges on the chests of the other four members, Lin Wu finally understood why his group only had five members - because their badges showed they were all low-ranking F-class mercenaries.

After exchanging greetings with those four rookie mercenaries who were about the same as himself, everyone began to make preparations.

"Alright, rookies, you're lucky this mission is very simple. Except for the long distance, there's almost no danger, so cherish this rare opportunity." After finishing speaking, John led a few people to one side of the merchant group, each team guarding a place.

"Set off!!" With a single order, the entire merchant group slowly began to leave Qingteng City.

Along the way, Lin Wu finally knew about this mission. When John heard Lin Wu's question, he stared at him with wide eyes. He didn't even know the specific information of the task and still came. John couldn't help but feel a little powerless towards Lin Wu. Even if you're not good at something, you can't be that bad.

Lin Wu only saw that the task had no level restrictions and was headed to Zi Jing City, so he didn't think much of it and came along. Otherwise, as a low-level F-rank mercenary, what kind of tasks could he receive?

And this time the task is to cross the Wind Language Plain, which is the only plain in the Violet Thorn Kingdom. There lives a group of mice, those mice are very weak, but their number is really too many. And this time the merchant team is transporting grain, so they hired a large number of mercenaries. Those mice can kill countless even if they were low-level mercenaries, so there is no level limit for this task.

However, the merchant team hired a D-level mercenary group to be on the safe side. John was one of the members of that mercenary group, and now this mercenary group has dispersed and is leading the remaining scattered mercenaries.

However, the only difficulty in this task is that the journey is long and a large amount of goods need to be transported. It will take at least more than a month to arrive in Violet City.

During this time, Lin Wu practiced his skills whenever he had free time, repeating the practice over and over again, because he needed to protect her. That warmth had long been etched in Lin Wu's heart, so Lin Wu needed great power.

During the lunch break, Lin Wu took out his sword as usual and started practicing on the side. Of course, Lin Wu only practiced two skills: uppercut and consecutive thrusts. Skills like Ghost Slash were absolutely not something he would use. People with ghost hands in this world were symbols of devils, existences that everyone could kill.

Upper slash and linked thrust are the most basic skills, they are the foundation of every swordsman, so even Lin Wu's practice wouldn't attract anyone's attention.

"Squad leader, that kid is practicing again." John munched on his dry rations as he gazed at Lin Wudao, who was continuously honing his skills not far away.

"Oh, good little guy, John go call him over." The team leader in John's mouth couldn't help but reveal a hint of appreciation in his eyes as he looked at Lin Wu.
