Borderline Mission (1)
To this day, I still don't know why I was so infatuated with her, nor do I know why I lost my composure that day. So, in a fluster, I ran to the training grounds and saw Bai Yufang, No. 7, sitting at a table, holding a bottle of liquor in one hand and a string of roasted meat in the other, with a handgun placed on the table, eating and drinking to herself.
I ran up beside him and before I could even open my mouth, he had already spoken: "You passed this test, eat something and then go train immediately."
I took a look, just about to speak, he stretched out his hand and said "shh", I had no choice but to quietly start eating. I glanced at the pistol on the table, it was a silver-white Desert Eagle, looking very domineering. For me, I still prefer pure gold, that way it looks more classy. I hastily ate a few mouthfuls.
"There are guns over there, go pick one out for yourself. Remember, no matter what angle, what kind of shot you take, you must hit with one shot. The battlefield is not a playground, if you don't train well, the one who dies is you, not someone else. If you want to live longer, you have to be stronger than your enemy."
Listening to Bai Yufang's words, I thought for a moment and picked up a revolver and a box of bullets. Actually, at that time, I didn't think about using any gun. When I stood in front of the target, I realized, "Damn it, a revolver." I couldn't help but slap myself on the face, trying hard to kick out the nurse named Yao Ting from my mind, shaking my head vigorously, feeling still unable to do so. In the end, I just didn't think about it anymore. Who knows how long I can live? Maybe soon I'll go to heaven and meet Saint Mary, and there's another woman in my heart. Both women are the kind that haven't even written a single stroke of the character for "woman" yet, but my heart keeps thinking about them. Perhaps this is my fate. I think I should train well, so time can make the decision for me. I believe that when the time comes, I'll know which one I love the most. But reality always doesn't go as planned.
We've been doing physical training for about a week now, and we just started shooting practice. Just plain shooting practice. Every day, the few dozen of us who are left, as soon as the sky is light in the morning, those bastard instructors get us up, and we carry all sorts of guns to practice shooting - sniper rifles, assault rifles, submachine guns, pistols, machine guns... The sound of gunfire goes on until midnight. We're practicing all sorts of poses - rolling around on the ground while shooting, sniping while running, firing short bursts with machine guns and submachine guns, shooting single-handedly with various guns, shooting with both hands at the same time... The number of bullets we fire is staggering, it's like they're trying to make a scientific calculation out of it. I keep thinking, what is this team for? Why are we training so crazily? No matter where we go, no one has ever heard of using bullets like this before. And these bullets cost money too... It seems like this unit doesn't care about money at all. But the facilities here really are terrible, and the only comfort is the guns.
After shooting training, it was hand-to-hand combat and then the use of various cold weapons. For soldiers, the use of cold weapons is rare, but it has been given special attention. It wasn't until later that I realized these would be the most needed in our future missions.
During bayonet training, I met another instructor whose code name was Bayonet. He was a quick-draw master, wielding two Tang knives with the fluidity of flowing clouds and water. Any knife that fell into his hands seemed to come alive, striking with precision within a 2mm range three times in a row. I don't know if this is awesome or not, but my own knife skills have never reached this level. My marksmanship is decent, but compared to his knife skills, it's far inferior.
The training had been going on for half a year, and everyone's various skills had been learned. One day, they suddenly gathered us together and told us that the final assessment was about to take place, which was the last battle of the training, actual combat.
This is a life-changing decision for us, and after this mission, I will transform from an honorable soldier of the Chinese army into a wanted mercenary, the huge contrast has been depressing me for a long time.
But I really liked the life of a mercenary, because when there was no task, I could get up whenever I wanted to sleep and sleep whenever I wanted. No one cared if the quilt was not folded, it was just freedom...
The weather was very clear that day, not too hot. I had gathered my sniper rifle and hung my revolver on my waist. The other team members were equipped with their most skilled weapons. The bayonet instructor's equipment included two Tang knives, an assault rifle, and a pistol. To put it simply, the Tang knife has a long history in our country. It is a general term for four types of military knives during the Tang Dynasty, not referring to any specific type of knife. Especially among sword merchants, the term "Tang knife" does not refer to just any straight knife. A Tang knife with no blood groove has an angular tip, while one with a blood groove has a rounded tip and is actually a Japanese straight knife. The knives and swords of the Tang Dynasty reached extremely high levels in both technology and artistry. The Tang knife is very similar to the Japanese sword, but the blade of the Japanese sword has a certain degree of curvature, whereas the Tang ring-headed knife often takes on a straight body that narrows towards the tip. The blade area of the Japanese sword generally accounts for more than half of the total blade area, while the blade area of the Tang knife is usually around one-quarter, adopting an axe-like shape. The small Japanese knife was used for cutting meat, while the Chinese Tang knife was used for chopping armor. The main reason is that Japan lacked resources and had too little armor, making it disadvantageous to have a small blade for cutting meat.
Helicopters took us away one by one, and we got off the plane in a deep mountain. There were thirty of us in total, divided into three groups of ten members each, with one instructor for each group. Our group's instructor was Rose Wolf, also known as Old Wolf. The instructors for the other two groups were Tian Huo, Ci Dao, Qi Hua Bai Yu Fen and Tian Yan Cheng Kai, but I don't know where they went, anyway, I didn't see them.
We made our way through the dense forest for a long time, and finally stopped at a high place. We took out binoculars to take a look, and I saw a square stone with two big red characters "China" written on it.
My heart was racing with excitement, "Damn it, we're actually at the border! This is my first mission and it's here? What a damn coincidence!" I couldn't help but curse out loud, then slapped myself on the mouth, scolding myself in my mind: "How dare you swear here, next to this sacred boundary marker? It's absolutely unacceptable, you really deserve to be scolded."
The old wolf had us find our own positions for an ambush, the old wolf had me and him together, so I saw our team members split into three groups leaving to find their own positions.
"Team A has arrived at the location!"
"Team B has arrived at the location!"
"Team C has reached position!" Voices of each squad came through the headset.
"Attention all teams, switch to channel 5 encryption now!" Old Wolf commanded into the headset. This channel belonged to our training camp's exclusive channel, I don't know how they did it, only our special communication device can tune into this channel.
"Rose Wolf calls Skye, Skye please respond!"
"What's all the yelling about! Are you trying to get yourself killed?! I'm just here watching a movie, can't you just leave me alone?!" Tianyan Chengkai's angry voice came from inside the headphones.
