Chapter Thirty-Five: Divided Troops
Xu Ming crouched on another mound of earth, gazing at Caruso in the distance. He made a "heavy firepower sweep and retreat" gesture with his hand, and Caruso nodded in understanding.
Their speed was very fast, and they might have realized that Xu Ming wanted to run away, so they didn't bother to waste more bullets and just rushed over. Xu Ming issued an attack command to Caruso, despite the distance of nearly 400 meters between them.
Caruso swept again in a fan-shaped scan, the sudden gunfire was like the previous rewind, and the people rushing forward fell down again.
Xu Ming took advantage of the opportunity to fire again, and two terrorists were almost in a prone position, their heads suddenly missing half.
Withdraw
Before the other party recovered, Xu Ming made a gesture to Caruso, and the two slid down the slope, each taking out a branch with dense leaves, backing away and sweeping their footprints.
Lion gripped the M16, a sudden tension, it seemed he had met his opponent. He was probably in his forties, with a head of golden hair, and a scar above his right eyebrow, left by shrapnel from a grenade during a mission.
He had more than once dealt with the army and knew that his group of people were not a threat to the military at all. However, he also knew that the opponent was definitely not the army, but just a rookie who had just enlisted.
Judging from the firepower, there aren't many of them. It's almost certain that there is a sniper and a heavy machine gun, as well as several charging soldiers, totaling no more than ten people in all.
It was just these fewer than ten people who had already killed more than half of their men.
The opposing commander was clearly skilled in tactical application, and even the Lion had his doubts as to whether they were regular troops. But he quickly dismissed that idea - they had to be greenhorns, or else those idiots wouldn't have sent them over here for training exercises; only these weren't your average greenhorns.
But the opponent's commander's virtual and real tactics made him extremely wary. Even with a very advantageous terrain for them, they were suppressed and couldn't play out their own advantages.
The gunfire from the opposite side has stopped for half a day, and the lion has also become more cautious, not daring to take it lightly and advance rashly, otherwise there is likely to be a risk of total annihilation.
"You, go take a look." The lion casually pulled over a flat-headed young man and had him scout ahead.
The young man was so scared that his legs went soft, and he just wanted the lion to change someone else. Seeing the lion's cold eyes and the several icy gun muzzles behind him, he was too afraid to speak, and could only tremble and slowly walk past.
He tread lightly and cautiously walked for about five or six minutes, then reached the place where Caruso had ambushed earlier, quietly turning his head to one side.
Huh, no one? The young man was unusually cautious and circled around the area, just as the lion was about to get impatient, the young man ran back in a flash.
"Boss, there's nobody left, everyone has run away."
"Escaped?" The lion was stunned for a moment, then reacted and roared: "Damn it! They must be out of ammo and can't run far with heavy weapons, chase them quickly!"
At the lion's command, all the terrorists scrambled to their feet and made a detour behind the mound. As far as the eye could see, there were forests, shrubs and wild grasses everywhere, and they didn't know where to chase them.
The lion walked forward, crouched down, and there were no footprints on the ground, but there were signs of being swept clean.
"Idiot! Unprofessional and still playing clean-up, isn't this leading us on a wild goose chase?"
The lion let out a cold hum and led others to sweep the ground and chase after.
The environment in the dense forest is extremely complex, and the lion makes everyone disperse to search for it. The distance between each person should not be less than three meters, so that they can respond to each other and expand the search area.
A terrorist suddenly shouted, and then his foot was pulled hard. A vine that came out of nowhere pulled his ankle and hung him upside down on a tree.
He had just shouted for help, and suddenly an arrow flew out of the bushes without warning, hitting him right in the chest. The terrorist's eyes rolled back, and he immediately stopped struggling, dropping the gun from his hand.
It all happened too quickly, so fast that no one had time to react.
"Alert!"
The lion let out a loud roar and several seemingly well-trained people emerged from behind it to shield the lion, while others either fell to the ground or hid behind large trees.
After a while, there was no movement. The lion frowned and let the person climb up the tree to put down the hanging man.
The lion walked up to the man, startling him. The man's face had already turned pale and his hands were shaking uncontrollably. Not dead? The lion pulled out the arrow from the man's chest, the arrowhead was only a few centimeters into his chest, not fatal at all.
But he sniffed at the arrow, and a foul smell came over. The lion tore open the man's collar, and the wound was flowing with black blood.
"Boss, this...this looks like poisoning?" The small-headed man approached the lion.
The lion nodded and said, "Not bad, it's poisoned. It should be the venom of a viper, this kind of toxin is hemotoxic, acting quickly with blood circulation, we don't have antivenom for this snake."
The lion turned his head and said faintly to that little head: "Ants, send this brother on his way and let him suffer less."
The little head nodded, pulled out a dagger, and helped up the person who had been shot with an arrow and cut his throat with one knife.
Everyone felt a chill run down their spine and couldn't help but turn pale.
"Be careful, they've left traps here and won't have gone too far. It means our direction is correct, let's continue searching."
In another area of the forest, Xu Ming and Guren were sweeping away traces on a narrow path that only allowed one person to pass through, being very careful and occasionally looking around.
"Hey boss, what's going on? Why do we need to sweep a section of all three paths? We can just walk through the bushes and our footprints will be easier to deal with." Gren asked in confusion.
Xu Ming smiled faintly and said: "Of course I know, that lion must also know. If not, their forces won't be dispersed, how can we play?"
"Alright, that's enough." Xu Ming casually tossed the branch in his hand into a nearby bush and patted his hands together, saying: "Let's go join up with them. Hopefully we'll run into the lion. As long as we can take him down, things will be much easier for us."
The lion crouched at the fork in the road, feeling somewhat troubled. Along the way, two more people triggered traps and fortunately only suffered minor injuries, without losing their combat effectiveness.
But the two forks are more difficult, one road can clearly see the hidden traces, and the other is a small path overgrown with weeds, and the weeds also have footprints.
It seems that they have divided their troops into two routes, and in this direction, it is obvious that they are heading towards the water source. Could it be that they want to rest at the water source?
Then why did they divide their troops? Ah, they must have thought that there were still our people at the water source and wanted to surround them. Good thinking, cautious enough.
The lion secretly sneered, and the water source indeed had people left behind by him. There were only a few people, but these few people had been following him for several years and had participated in multiple terrorist attacks.
Since you want to play ambush, I'll play along with you guys. Are we dividing our troops? What a joke! That's just asking for death!
The lion turned around and said to the grasshopper, "Grasshopper, you lead a dozen or so people in pursuit from the meadow, I'll lead the rest of the people along the small path, we'll gather at the rendezvous point."
It's been drizzling since early morning in the Qing dynasty, and I feel like sleeping. Hurry up and recommend, collect and reward me to stimulate myself, otherwise Little Fish will really fall asleep.
