Chapter 58: The Struggle for Quotas (Part 2)

Chapter 58: The Struggle for Quotas

  "I object!"

With these words, a young man walked to the center of the hall - this was a young man of about twenty years old, wearing a dark blue suit, obviously much better than other guests, and his handsome face and straight posture also earned him a lot of points.

Especially when he walked out of the crowd and came to an empty place, he attracted everyone's attention in an instant. Some ladies even had a continuous glow in their eyes; however, this young man was oblivious to it all. He simply bowed slightly towards the baroness and then turned his gaze towards the baron.

  "Karl, why are you opposed?"

  The baron frowned and asked.

In fact, Baron had been holding back his anger, after all, the young man in front of him was one of the few people he could appreciate and was worth cultivating.

If he were a clown like Weiboer, the Baron would have been slapped away long ago.

"I think the qualification for 'Knight Baptism' shouldn't be given to an outsider!"

It was clear that Karl Tir did not notice the Baron's suppressed anger as he spoke so bluntly.

When they heard this, the guests around them nodded in agreement. After all, as people with the surname 'Tiel', they were born with a xenophobic trait.

It's not just the Tyrrell family, it's every noble family.

If it were an ordinary day, the Baron would have agreed, but today was different; after all, what the Baron had to do was 'return a gift', for his own dignity and honor's 'return gift'.

He was well aware that if he accepted the gift graciously but failed to produce a corresponding one, the story would spread throughout Woburn County and bring him ridicule.

And the idea given to him by his staff was undoubtedly a win-win situation - it didn't require any actual sacrifice at this moment, and could save face, even greatly enhance the dignity of being the master, which was simply the best for the financially strained Baron Thiel.

So, when he heard such opposing words, his face sank involuntarily, and in the bottom of his heart, he began to secretly regret that the list of guests he had selected was not meticulous enough - undoubtedly, in the eyes of the baron, this kind of person who did not know how to behave properly should not have come to attend his banquet.

Inside the hall, apart from the baron feeling displeased, the young lady of the baron was also...

"This guy is making trouble again!"

The young lady said with a huff.

  "What? Hasn't this happened before?"

Dean already knew some things and was asking knowingly.

"Of course, just because I agreed to go hunting with him once, he thinks he has acquired my 'ownership' and is always showing off his presence in front of me and others!"

The Baroness's eyebrows were already knitted together.

  "Do you dislike him?"

  Deen asked.

"Hate him? Not really, after all, he's much stronger than those guys who look strong but are actually weak, however... I just can't accept the way he does things!"

The Baroness thought for a moment before speaking in measured tones.

It's obvious that, just as the young lady said, she doesn't dislike him, but nor does she like him; at most they can only be friends who play together.

However, it is clear that this friend of hers is now causing her trouble - as for her father's thoughts, the baroness was still very aware.

Of course, there is also the financial situation of one's own family.

In fact, half of the finances within the Baron's estate were managed by this young lady.

  As for Baron himself?

According to his own character, if he were to manage the finances himself, he would probably have gone bankrupt long ago.

  "Do you need my help?"

  Deane smiled and asked.

  "Help?"

The young lady looked at the young man in front of her with a puzzled expression, her face full of surprise; compared to her previous elegance and poise, there was now a hint of heroism on his body, although he was just standing there, but even so, it already made people seem to see a general commanding countless soldiers charging forward.

  "Give it to me!"

Deane bowed slightly and then turned around and walked away in the same manner through the hall.

The next moment, Dean and Karl Tir fought side by side.

It was almost at this moment that the guests in the hall suddenly discovered that this guest, invited by their lord, was also young and handsome, with a heroic spirit that Karl Tir did not possess, and his calm face made Karl Tir's impatient and argumentative face look even more inferior.

It's like the difference between a fledgling and an eagle.

Comparison is always the most terrifying!

In this way, there is no error at all, just like now——

People were amazed at the 'excellence' of Dean that they had not discovered before, while Baron, who had already discovered Dean's excellence, nodded in satisfaction again.

The former is naturally because of the idea of "first come, first served", and being blinded by a single leaf.

The latter is also blocked by the preconceived notion of "first come first served".

Although Dean is proficient in disguise, such a disguise comes from layer by layer of paving - in fact, from the beginning of not meeting with Baron, those invitations, gifts, 'achievements' after meeting, identity display, are all like this; and precisely because of this, Dean can get a different feeling from Baron Teal.

If Dean does nothing, although Baron Teal will consider it, he absolutely won't be as hesitant as now when facing his own people's 'requests'.

Of course, if he were a true master of disguise, none of these would be necessary; just one glance would be enough to make Baron Teir 'marvel in admiration'!

However, Dean thought he was not up to that level.

So he chose a common way, and from now on, this common way is still quite good.

"Dean Ken Knight, do you have anything to say?"

The baron asked in a gentle tone.

  "This..."

Dean looked at the young man beside him.

  "Carl! Tear!"

  Karl Thiel introduced himself.

"Doesn't Lord Carl think I'm qualified for a Knight's Baptism just because I don't have the surname 'Thiel'? But isn't it true that in the Emerald Kingdom, there is no rule that says you must be a relative of a lord to qualify for a Knight's Baptism?"

Dean smiled and looked at Carl beside him.

"No! But as the captain of the Fichalun Knights, you must have already had the power of a knight. Then, the qualification for 'Knight Baptism' should be given to others who need it more!"

Carl Thiel faced the fact, whether he wanted to admit it or not, and nodded; however, it was clear that he did not want to give up.

Moreover, compared to Veber Tir's nonsense, this Karl Tir is undoubtedly smarter. Just look at the guests around him nodding in agreement, and you can see that this young man's words are very popular - he suggested that the Knights' Order must be led by real knights, and true knights do not need 'knight baptism'.

Simply put, if Dean acknowledges himself as a true knight, he must necessarily give up his eligibility for "Knight Baptism".

And if Dean doesn't acknowledge himself as a true knight, the leadership of the Knights will obviously be disputed, let alone the qualification for 'Knight Baptism'.

A person who has been widely criticized, what qualifications does he have to receive a 'knight baptism'.

So they just left Dean with one road.

Acknowledge having 'knight qualifications' and then give up 'knight baptism'.

Of course, this is far from over. Dean can be certain that once he acknowledges his 'knight qualifications', the other side will definitely issue a challenge and make him 'reveal his true form'!

  This is no guess!

Looking into his opponent's eyes, Dean saw a glint of provocation and fighting spirit.

However, Dean, who had made preparations before coming, was obviously not going to be intimidated by the other party's tactics - whether it was the choice given by the other party or the challenge.

  Dean was even relieved.

After all, his original opponent was supposed to be the Baron's captain of the guard: Airenlu.

For this, he had no choice but to intentionally get injured, wanting to delay this battle for a while, giving himself ample opportunity to increase his strength.

However, since the opponent is not Allen who has the true strength of a knight captain, it's obviously unnecessary; of course, just to cover up his previous words, Dean would never reveal that he can move his right hand freely, let alone defeat an enemy with his left hand, which is even more convincing.

After all, in everyone's mind, the right hand is the dominant hand.

Especially when he was speaking wildly

  "I have the qualifications of a knight, but I haven't received a 'Knight's Baptism'!"

  Dean Lang said loudly.

  What?!

The guests around were stunned, including the baron, the baron's advisor, and even the captain of the guard - all were stunned. Without undergoing a 'Knight's Baptism', he already possessed the strength of a knight... Is this genius?

The baron, the baron's advisor, and the captain of the guard all unconsciously showed suspicion on their faces.

  As for Karl Tir?

This young man has been sneering continuously.
