Chapter 15: The Knights of Fichera

Chapter Fifteen: The Knights of Ficharlun

After nearly three days of almost non-stop racing, Dean left the range of Yorkshire and entered the range of Horseshoe County - fortunately with two horses as substitutes, otherwise Dean would have been locked in when entering 'martial law' in Yorkshire.

Although he had the appointment letter, he could leave smoothly, but the items on his body could only be kept at the level of a probationary knight. Not to mention the spoils of war, such as crossbows and arbalests, even longbows would be too conspicuous; Dean was unwilling to see such losses.

After all, no one wants to see unnecessary losses.

What about the body of that spy?

After running for about a night, Dean didn't sink it, but threw it into a nearby forest with no towns or villages - the beasts of the night were enough to help him deal with any traces; the surrounding feces allowed Dean to confirm that there were many carnivorous animals in that forest where humans rarely set foot.

And this is exactly what he needs.

Three days of almost continuous running had left Dean feeling far more exhausted than he could have imagined - and this exhaustion was also reminding him that he was no longer the lone wolf of Hagar's Slo, but an apprentice knight on his way to the Knights of Fichera; at least, physically speaking.

So, after entering the first town in Hosh County, Dean took a rest at an inn, with hot baths, soft beds and steaming food; of course, his horses were also resting - high-quality feed and brushing by the inn's servants made Dean's normally dusty horses look like new.

Of course, this is based on sufficient silver corners.

Thanks to the York cavalry's pouches, Dean didn't need to consider exchanging his loot for gold in Kimpton before arriving in Woburn.

  Twenty-two days.

Dean arrived at the northernmost county of Wobang, which is adjacent to the Snowy Forest and overlooks the White Night Kingdom across the Northland Ice Plains, from the central region of the Emerald Kingdom at his fastest speed.

His destination, the headquarters of the Knights Hospitaller, was located in the county of Tiel within Woban.

And from Wobang County to Tiel, it took three more days - the roads between towns and villages were covered with ice and snow, which delayed Dean for most of the time.

Including the day spent in Hornberg, only four days were left out of the thirty days on the appointment letter - twenty-two days had been spent, during which some items had been replenished and the things they carried became more numerous and heavier, causing the horses' speed to slow down unconsciously; otherwise, Dean could have arrived within twenty days.

However, even so, Dean was much stronger than in his previous life - after all, in his previous life, due to financial reasons, he did not have a horse, and although he could occasionally hitch a ride with kind-hearted people, it took him forty-five days to arrive at the territory of Till, which exceeded the stipulated fifteen days by far.

Although this was his greatest effort at the time, the hypocritical and self-serving commander of the Ficheren Knights Corps whipped him thirty times and then threw him to a sentry post fifty miles away from the Ficheren Knights Corps' base. With a tired and injured body, lacking clothes and food, Dean clearly remembered that he fell ill directly.

And this is just the beginning!

About two days later, the trusted subordinate of the commander of the Ficharen Knights, kicked in the door and threw him into the snowy ground, then took away his long sword - for those so-called knight attendants, the standard long sword of the Dean Central Knights was a rare sharp weapon.

Just as Dean thought he was dead, the trusted subordinate of the leader of the Fichalun Knights returned once again, looked at him who didn't die, and gave him a vicious stab in the abdomen with his dagger.

  Then, another departure.

This time, when Dean thought he was doomed to die, he was rescued by Baron Teal and his party who happened to be out hunting.

However, the Baron of Tir, who was quite influential and had a good heart, did not truly help him. After listening to his story, he only casually asked the commander of the Ficharen Knights about it, and after being told that they would investigate thoroughly, he lightly sent him back to the knights' quarters.

  Everything that followed was self-evident.

In fact, before the outbreak of the Blood Moon War, Dean had been suffering inhumane treatment - insults and beatings were a daily routine, while real meals were not available even once every two days; however, perhaps due to the concern of the commander of the Ficharen Knights that the baron would intervene again, he did not truly kill him.

Always let him live on, even if he is worse than a dog.

But this is just in memory!

  But this time...

Dean let out a cold laugh.

  ……

Four days later, after the morning sun had completely illuminated the earth and dispelled the morning mist that wandered in the mountains, Dean wore a long sword at his waist and carried a leather backpack, walking outside the only town of Earl Tyl - unlike those marquises and counts, Earl Tyl only held the title of baron, with only one town and four villages as his territory, which was also achieved through the accumulation of three generations.

Otherwise, it will be even more shabby.

Similarly, due to territorial reasons, the armed forces owned by this baron are not many, except for the guards, there is only the Feicharen Knights.

However, although it is called a knight order, apart from the captain being a true existence with knightly power, the rest are just a collection of knights' attendants and young soldiers from the territory of Tyl, totaling 100 people - in fact, due to various reasons, this number has less than 50, and this already includes auxiliary troops and miscellaneous soldiers.

As for why such a situation would occur?

It was certainly a good job done by Sir Fothergill's knights - eating idly, that is what they had been doing for ten years before Deyn came.

And was able to remain undiscovered all this time, of course, thanks to someone else's help: the tax collector from Thiel.

In fact, the other party was Dean who came to Tieluo after, the second person who must be killed.

  Who is the first one?

He is naturally the leader of the Knights of Fechal.

About ten kilometers away from the town, a camp gradually appeared in front of Dean - that was the residence of the Feicharen Knights.

A military camp with a tower and surrounded by wooden palisades.

The biggest feature here is old and tattered.

The guard standing in front of the camp, although he tried his best to straighten his chest, was weakened by hunger and looked listless. The biting cold wind made him shiver uncontrollably, even during the day, causing him to hunch over involuntarily.

However, upon seeing Dean walk in, the guard still did his duty and let out a loud shout.

"Halt! This is the residence of the Knights of Ficharl... Who are you?"

Perhaps it was the long sword at Dean's waist, the guard paused and asked with a hint of tension; In the territory of Thiel, located on the border of the Emerald Kingdom, people carrying weapons are often encountered.

Even though Dean didn't look like a bandit or a barbarian, the guard couldn't help but swallow hard and take a slight step back as he thought about his own skills and watched Dean approach.

He had already made up his mind that if anything went wrong, he would immediately run deep into the military camp.

  As for so-called glory?

He is just a farmer who serves as a soldier within his territory, and not a true knight, where does the glory come from.

Fortunately, Dean's next words comforted him.

"Central Knights' Corps, Probationary Knight Dean, reporting for duty!"

Dien said in a loud and confident voice, causing the hunter-turned-guard to pause for a moment before hastily performing an awkward military salute and saying respectfully: "Greetings, Sir Knight!"

"I want to see your squad leader!"

  Dean said directly.

  "Yes, Sir Knight!"

The hunter-born guard nodded and ran to the sentry post on one side - the sentry post was a wooden board-built building similar to a house, only simpler.

However, in this icy and snowy weather, such a simple building can also provide enough warmth. Moreover, there is a brazier inside - the smoke coming out of the window gap makes Dean very sure that there is such a heating device; of course, Colonel Potts would never be in this sentry box.

"What the heck is a knight lord? In the entire Knights of Fechal, aside from Commander Pots, where are any knight lords?"

A loud, scolding voice came from inside the sentry post, and then a different guard emerged from it - unlike the previous one who was weak and shivering with cold. This one wore a quilted jacket over his leather armor, and there was a hint of alcohol on him, which explained what he had been doing inside the sentry post.

And in his hand he held a short sword with its scabbard, the leather scabbard was already worn out, however, the other party didn't care at all and grasped it in his hand. With the tip of the sword, he pointed at Dean: "Are you that daredevil who dares to impersonate a knight? Tsk, and still daring to carry a weapon, don't you know that carrying weapons is prohibited in Til territory? Hand it over!"

The slightly drunken guard said as he looked at the long sword at Dean's waist, and suddenly his eyes lit up, regardless of everything, he reached out to grab the long sword at Dean's waist.

By the way, I've changed to a new cover, what do you guys think????
