Chapter Six: Intimidation
Carrying the cash box and the unconscious thief, Dean navigated through the streets of Hornstown with ease, except when leaving the town gate, where he had to avoid the guards waiting there and climb over a ten-foot-high fence, which made Dean take a slight detour. The whole process was effortless - beforehand, Dean had already memorized the patrol route of his opponent; therefore, avoiding them was extremely easy.
After leaving the town of Horn for hundreds of yards, Dean found a thicket and threw the bandit under a tree. As the other slowly came to due to pain, he placed the long sword on the other's neck.
"If you want to die immediately, shout it out loud!"
Wearing a hood to cover his disguised face, Dean deliberately lowered his voice and spoke in an extremely low and gloomy tone.
No one wants to die, and this robber is no exception. He may view other people's lives as worthless, but his own? That's absolutely precious.
So, as soon as Dean's voice fell, this robber raised his hands in cooperation.
Of course, such an abandonment is clearly not the style of a strong thief!
A rabbit will bite when it's anxious, a dog will jump over a wall when it's anxious.
People are no exception, let alone robbers.
The robber with his hands raised had his eyes darting back and forth, clearly on the lookout for something; and without needing to be asked, Dean could guess what it was.
After all, according to his memory, the deputy captain of the Central Knights had consecutively shot and killed four daring bandits; simply put, aside from the one killed by Dean, and this one in front of him, there were still two more bandits around Horn Town.
And what he was looking for was naturally also on these two thieves.
So Dean didn't mind that the thief in front of him would bring over his two companions - in fact, this was his intention.
Of course, in order to be on the safe side, it is necessary to follow his way of doing things.
So, the next moment, the robber felt a chill in his right hand, followed by a piercing pain that came from his hand; however, before he could cry out in pain, a muddy stone was stuffed into his mouth, forcibly suppressing his cry of pain and also shattering two of his teeth.
At the same time, a chill began to appear on his neck.
He lowered his head and saw the long sword placed at his throat, this bandit immediately endured the pain and did not make a sound, and quickly shook his head; even more, to show his obedience, this bandit raised his bloody hand again and swallowed the teeth mixed with blood.
Although such action once again pulled his wounded finger, but pain is better than death, right?
Faced with Dean's ruthless style, the bandit immediately categorized Dean as a true fugitive - although he himself was also a fugitive as a bandit, but compared to this kind of lone wolf who came and went alone, he was slightly inferior.
After all, he had his own concerns, knowing that he was not alone; however, the other party, who came and went alone, was clearly different, and without any concerns, ended up in a situation where it was either you die or I live.
Of course, most of the time it's the enemy who dies and the other side lives.
His dead companion and his severed thumb are the best proof - although he is still alive, but the hand that holds the sword has lost a big thumb, which undoubtedly greatly reduces his strength. What does this mean for a bandit? It's the end of a bandit career!
As for continuing to do so?
It's all the same whether you're killed by the guards of the looted object or by your own people - a useless, one-handed, thumb-less good-for-nothing who can't even hold a sword properly. If he gets killed, none of his accomplices will have any complaints; on the contrary, they'll be overjoyed. After all, this means they'll get an extra share.
But all these are things of the future!
Now he was still being held at sword point by a long sword in his throat.
"Spare my life..."
The robber is crawling there begging for mercy.
"I just wanted to ask you something... If you want to do anything else, it won't just be a broken thumb - you know, if you break your thumb, the worst that can happen is that you can't hold a sword again. But if you lose something, you're not even a man!"
Dean's low and solemn voice was like the cold wind from the northern snowfield, making this continuously begging Mr. Robber tremble and instinctively arch his waist - for any normal man, such performance is not considered shameful, but rather very normal.
"You ask, I'll definitely tell!"
Although the words were still stuttered, this strong robber was more obedient - originally leaning against the tree behind him, he suddenly appeared in front of Dean with a kneeling and crawling posture, just like those wild beasts that show their belly to humans, indicating docility.
"What's your name?"
"Jack!"
"So, Jack, where are you from?"
"Jarl of Wobang County!"
"Oh, what brings you here this time?"
"A deal, a transaction, and a fat sheep from the Emerald City!"
The robber named Jack faced Ye Qi's questioning without any reserve, answering one by one; even when it came to the task of their trip, he only paused slightly before speaking out clearly - although this was just a piece of false information.
What about the fat sheep?
This is the name given to Roman Polanski by the robbers; and this also foretold the final outcome of Roman Polanski, which now only differs in that the executor has changed slightly.
"Alright, you didn't deceive me..." Dean deliberately left a pause, then continued to say: "So, Jack, what do you think Mitt would do if he knew about your 'honesty'?"
As soon as the name "Mitt" came out, Jack trembled like he was struck by lightning. He immediately looked at Dean with a pleading expression and said repeatedly: "Sir, sir, you can't do this - Mitt will skin me alive!"
As Jack said, Mite was the big boss on the other side, with his own underground forces in the territory of Earl Janol in Wobang County. Even Earl Janol couldn't underestimate him. In Dean's memory, this Mite was finally brought out by the deputy commander of the Central Knights' Regiment, and then taken directly back to the Emerald City, hanged on the city wall, as another medal for his promotion.
However, this did not prevent Dein from having a correct understanding of Mite. Although the opponent was eventually hanged, being able to cope with more than 50 Central Knight Corps for nearly two weeks already showed his extraordinary abilities, especially when facing these subordinates, he was even more famous.
"Look, I didn't say I would 'formally' hand you over to Mitt, just that it's possible, as long as you..."
"I obey, I obey, I am willing to be loyal to you!"
Before Dean could finish, Jack spoke directly and knocked his head repeatedly. When Dean mentioned the name Mite, Jack completely gave up his resistance; he could see that the other party was very familiar with him and the people behind him, and even this scene in front of him had been planned for a long time.
As for the other party's ultimate goal?
Jack can't be the one, after all, he's not worth the trouble - with his abilities, if he wanted to, Jack would have been a corpse in the sewer by tomorrow.
It is obvious that big shots who have connections with him...
And the one who could be considered a big shot and had dealings with him was naturally his elder: 'Wild Fox' Mait.
It's obvious that they want to take down their boss, and he's just a small fry who got dragged into it - just a small man trying to survive!
So, in order to survive, Jack made a choice without any hesitation.
"Very well, then I need a reliable 'pledge of allegiance' - not that I believe it, just verbal assurance!" Dean continued in a low, ominous tone.
"Of course, this is of course!"
Jack nodded repeatedly, without any opposition - for Jack, as long as he didn't die, anything was fine.
What will happen afterwards?
As a robber, Jack wouldn't care about it!
He only knew that if he didn't listen now, it would be certain death, and if he listened, he could survive, even if it was just for a little while. For this robber, it was better to live than to die immediately.
So at this time, Jack showed far more obedience than ordinary people could imagine.
As for such obedience, Dean was naturally secretly satisfied with it.
However, on the surface, Dean showed no change at all, still as ruthless and gloomy as ever - as the Dean with memories, he knew exactly how to deal with these bandits.
What they fear is being seen by brutal and terrifying people, rather than benevolent beings.
The former will make them honest and obedient.
And what about the latter?
It will only make them raise their butcher knives and plunder everything they covet.
