Chapter 4 2 Illusion
Beautiful women are always eye-catching, whether they are alive or dead. Lao Wei has seen many such flower-like girls lose their lives to drugs in his many years of policing career. At first, he was infinitely regretful, but later on, he gradually got used to it. To Lao Wei, they were just a talking corpse, nothing more.
Xiao Bin covered her head and saw that her feet were still exposed outside. He gently pulled the quilt again, covering his feet and walked out of the ward.
The guy in the hall was now coming down from the high of the drug, basically paralyzed in a corner, with the scalpel still pressed against his neck. His loud wails had turned hoarse and he was weakly moaning. Two police officers tried to approach him to take away the scalpel, but he tensed up again: "Come... come on... ah... it's great... try coming... come try..."
The police retreated again, the hallucinations produced by drug use made them lose their thinking ability, and they didn't even have a sense of pain. Any over-the-top action might make him insert the surgical knife into his own neck. This kind of emergency is what the police least want to happen, so they'd rather wait a bit longer, letting the addict completely lose his resistance.
Lao Wei coldly stared at the drug addict, now is not the time, being impatient is useless. He took out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, lit one and put it to his mouth, only to remember that smoking was not allowed in the hospital, so he put the cigarette back into the case.
"His face was bitten by a dog?" Xiaobin looked at that bloody and blurry face and asked.
"It's possible that he was injured by other drug addicts, the drugs caused hallucinations and he didn't feel pain, instead he felt a kind of pleasure." Old Wei said nonchalantly.
"But he wasn't stabbed..." Xiaobin added.
"Hmm? Indeed, this scar is quite strange, it seems like an animal bite." Old Wei took another close look.
The addict's strength was getting weaker and weaker, the hand holding the scalpel to his neck also slowly fell down, the two police officers thought they had an opportunity, leaned forward a bit, but he suddenly came back to life, and pressed the scalpel against his neck again.
Xiao Bin looked at this bloody and ferocious face, and thought of the beautiful face in the emergency room that took his breath away. He was furious and strode forward, shouting: "Push! Push it in! You damn well push it in!"
The Junkie was startled by Xiao Bin's roar and trembled as he held the surgical knife, aiming at Xiao Bin. Before he could react, Xiao Bin took a swift step forward and kicked his wrist with precision, sending the knife flying out of his hand. Xiao Bin didn't wait for him to recover and grabbed his collar, lifting him off the ground, flipping him over, and controlling one of his hands. The Junkie, under attack, suddenly burst into fury, ignoring his restrained hand, and turned around to hug Xiao Bin with his other hand, biting down hard on Xiao Bin's shoulder. His arm was twisted to its limit, a move that would normally knock someone out, but the Junkie seemed to feel no pain and countered with a dog-biting technique, a low-level martial arts move. Xiao Bin's face contorted in agony as he increased his grip strength, but the Junkie held tight to Xiao Bin's waist, biting down even harder!
The remaining police officers saw the situation and used force to pry open his arms, which were holding Xiao Bin tightly. However, he refused to let go, his hands were almost twisted into a knot, and he was still biting Xiao Bin's shoulder, making a chilling "hulu" sound with his mouth. One of the police officers panicked and took out his baton, hitting him several times on the back.
With great difficulty, they finally managed to separate him from Xiao Bin. Just as they were about to get him under control, he suddenly slipped one hand free and grabbed another police officer's hand, biting down on it fiercely. The officer was caught off guard and was bitten on the wrist. He thrashed his head like a wild beast and bit down on the officer's wrist, tearing off a piece of flesh. Another officer had to use a baton to loop around his neck, pinning him to the ground with one foot on his knee, pulling back with all his might before they could finally subdue him. They then pinned him to the hospital bed, strapping him down with restraints. Xiao Bin was already drenched in cold sweat from pain. When he opened his police uniform, there were two rows of deep teeth marks on his shoulder. If it weren't for the protection of the double-layered uniform, his shoulder would have been bitten off for sure.
Lao Wei was also surprised. Based on past experience, drug addicts usually lose their sense of pain and gain superhuman strength when resisting arrest, but this was the first time he had seen someone behave like a wild animal and bite people. Had some new type of drug appeared?
Lao Wei told Xiao Bin to find a nurse to deal with his shoulder, and Xiao Bin muttered: "What the hell is this poison?" and went to treat his wound with another injured police officer.
The nurse carefully applied medicine and bandaged him up, then suddenly said with a playful tone: "You've got a pretty good physique."
Another policeman pressed his wound and saw the nurse treating Xiao Bin so carefully, somewhat dissatisfied: "Nurse! I'm even more seriously injured."
"Wait a minute!" The nurse replied stiffly, took the medicine to disinfect him. As soon as the antiseptic was applied, he almost jumped onto the ceiling: "I... it hurts..."
"What's the big deal! It's just a police dog, can't even withstand this little pain!" The nurse skillfully applied medicine and bandaged, coldly instructing: "Tomorrow go buy a triple rabies vaccine, bring it to the hospital for the first shot, keep the vaccine well, finish all three shots within three months..."
"Rabies vaccine?!" These few words really gave him a big fright: "This... I won't get rabies, will I?"
"How am I supposed to know?" The nurse threw out a sentence, gathered her things, and as she was about to leave, she softly told Xiao Bin: "Don't take a bath for the next few days, keep the wound clean and dry to prevent infection."
"Should I get vaccinated against rabies?" Xiaobin asked suspiciously.
"No need, no external injury, just internal bruising, but if you're still worried, you can also get a preventive shot."
Another policeman protested: "Hey, we are all police officers, why be so gentle with him and so fierce with me?"
The nurse smiled: "Go take a look in the mirror."
The nurse left, and the police really went to take a look in the mirror, then looked at Xiaobin again, sighing: "This is indeed a world that judges by appearance..."
After the results of the drug test came out, Lao Wei felt it was necessary to hold a meeting. The matter became more and more confusing.
Large amounts of Flakka were found in the female corpse and that 'zombie's' drug test. Flakka is a new type of toxic substance, commonly known as zombie medicine, with strong hallucinogenic effects. Overdose can cause hallucinations, like zombies biting others. Old Wei introduced the case: "Flakka was only recently discovered, there have been similar cases in the north, but this is the first time here. This new type of toxic substance is cheap and has strong hallucinogenic effects, but it easily damages brain tissue."
"How is the interrogation of 'Zombie Mr.' going?" the captain asked.
Lao Wei shook his head: "He is still in a coma, the doctor said that his brain has been damaged, we need to be prepared for not getting any leads. According to the hospital's surveillance video, we are now looking for those accomplices who sent them to the hospital." Lao Wei turned on the projector, and the first scene was a red Nissan sedan hastily arriving at the hospital entrance. Several people jumped out of the car, and from the back seat, they supported the girl out. The girl's body was limp, but her hands were waving wildly. A man started to drag her, but she couldn't walk, so he quickly picked her up and rushed into the hospital. Two other men tried to pull out the blood-covered man from the car, struggling for over a minute before they finally carried him into the hospital.
The scene then cuts to the hospital lobby, where a man holding a girl appears running, followed by several nurses pushing a wheelchair. The man stands in the middle of the lobby looking around awkwardly, and the nurses push the wheelchair out of the camera's view. Two minutes later, two other men carrying a blood-covered man enter the camera's view. With the help of three people, they put him on the bed and disappear from the camera's view. About 10 minutes later, the three men reappear in the hospital lobby's surveillance footage, hastily walking out. One of them is wiping bloodstains off his clothes with a tissue as they quickly get into a red Nissan car at the entrance and leave the hospital.
The nurse said that at the time, the hospital was busy rescuing patients, and the three of them made an excuse to go pay the bill and then left. About 5 minutes later, the situation became like this... Old Wei paused the projector for a moment, gave a brief introduction, and continued playing it. The man with blood all over his face, waving a surgical knife, rushed into the surveillance screen from the corridor. Two male doctors followed him out, shouting excitedly as he spun around, wary of the sharp surgical knife in his hand, nobody dared to approach him. Then, the hospital's security guard appeared on the scene with a baton, and the man confronted him, putting the surgical knife to his own neck. After that, a doctor was seen taking out his phone to make a call.
"It was the doctor who made the call to the nearby police station, which is 200 meters away from the hospital. The police officers in the station arrived at the hospital within two minutes." Old Wei turned off the projector.
"Has that red sedan been investigated?" The captain asked again.
"A fake license plate car." Old Wei smiled wryly.
"Then... let's start with the identities of the two drug addicts?" Xiaobin raised his hand to speak, and as soon as he did, a sharp pain shot through his shoulder.
"It's quite difficult, the female victim was an outsider, 21 years old, studying at the local art academy. After visiting her teachers and classmates over the past two days, they said she was usually very quiet and didn't have any shady friends. On the night of the incident, she said she had two friends from her hometown who asked her to go out for a gathering, and then this happened. The victim's parents are on their way to handle the aftermath. The male drug addict had no identification documents, his face was also bloody and unclear, making facial recognition impossible, and there has been no breakthrough yet."
The meeting was halfway through when a police officer pushed the door open and whispered something in the captain's ear. The captain stood up: "Let's stop here for now, Old Wei, you come with me."
