Chapter 22: Almost Became Enemy Meat (1)
"Sound the drums on the east, attack from the west!" Tianhu suddenly exclaimed excitedly.
But he immediately felt strange, how did he think of such a thing? Did he recover his memory? But why did he have such memories, and what was this "computer" thing?
However, Tianhu didn't have much time to think about these whys. He quickly returned to the team and ordered: "Ahmed, take three people to attack the devils on the left side, attack and then retreat. You're familiar with the terrain here, lead them wherever you can."
"Okay, I'll go right away," Ahmed replied readily.
Tianhu asked again, "Who else knows the terrain around here?"
"I do. I'm willing to take three people to lure the devils on the left side," someone replied.
"What's your name?" Tianhu asked.
"Mahad," he replied.
"Good, the devils on the right side are yours to handle. Don't engage in a long battle, just attack and retreat. As long as you can lure them away, that's fine."
"Yes!" Mahad replied.
Ahmed and Mahad each took three people to lure the devils on both sides.
Tianhu looked around at the remaining people and shouted: "Everyone else, follow me!"
Tianhu led the remaining 34 people towards the devils in the middle of the road. The path they took was flat and relatively close to the enemy, so they arrived quickly.
"Everyone hide well, wait for my command before acting," Tianhu ordered.
After waiting for a long time, there were no sounds from either side, and Tianhu became anxious.
"You two go to the left side, you two go to the right side. You four split up and scout out what's going on with Ahmed and Mahad, why they haven't acted yet. Report back to me as soon as possible, don't take any action without orders."
The four scouts went off in different directions, and Tianhu began pacing around a tree.
Tianhu wasn't worried about anything else, just that Ahmed and Mahad wouldn't follow his plan and change their strategy, making his "sound the drums on the east, attack from the west" tactic fall apart.
If that happened, his 30-odd people would face over 140 Japanese devils with excellent equipment, rather than the original 50 in the middle. The disparity in strength would be enormous. In that case, they wouldn't just lose to the devils and fail to occupy the road, but might even be surrounded by the enemy and annihilated. Moreover, the thousands of people waiting on the sea would once again fall into the devils' hands.
Tianhu thought about this and couldn't help but shiver, silently praying that Ahmed and Mahad wouldn't do such a thing.
But the more he worried, the more likely it was to happen.
Just as Tianhu finished his prayer, the four scouts returned, panting heavily.
"Report: Ahmed didn't follow your orders and open fire to lure away the enemy. Instead, he wanted to sneak into the enemy camp like you did in Xinshan and take out the devils one by one. But the enemy had set up an ambush, and two of his men were captured. One was injured while fighting the enemy and escaped into the woods. Because his leg injury was too severe, he couldn't move and was afraid to come back and be scolded by you, so he didn't return with us. We met him on the way, and he asked us to hurry back and report to you, don't worry about him," the scout from the left side reported.
