Prologue

Volume 1: Entering the Mortal World Chapter 1

It is said that in the distant past, a war broke out among the gods who ruled the world. The struggle between the gods brought endless destruction to the earth, towering mountain ranges were flattened by the flames of the gods, fertile grasslands turned into deserts under the roar of the gods, and large tracts of land sank into the ocean in the battle of divine power.

Finally, the war between gods ended with the destruction of all gods, followed by a long period of ice age. In this catastrophe, only a few people survived, and countless mutated monsters appeared on the earth, facing humans with a cruel and harsh survival environment. With the passage of time, in the struggle with mutated beasts and the sudden rise of beastmen, human beings developed again. This human catastrophe known as the Twilight of the Gods became history over time, history became legend, and gradually faded into people's memory.

In the autumn of 128, in a season of bountiful harvests, the people of the Nord continent were not brought joy, but endless suffering and despair. The beastmen who had always lived on the western wilderness of the Nord continent launched an attack on the Western Empire of Xis to the east as soon as autumn arrived. Although this was not the first time the beastmen had invaded, in the past there were at most tens of thousands of beastmen swarming in, but this time the scale of the beastman army was unprecedented, with one million powerful beastman warriors led by Goru, the king of the beastmen who unified the tribes, crossing the Sahara Desert and engaging in battle with the Xis Empire's military which had not made sufficient preparations. The human army of 100,000 was instantly swallowed up by the green ocean of beastmen that was ten times their size.

After annihilating the border guards of the Western Empire, the orcs began a brutal and bloody plunder. Countless villages were burned down after being looted by the orcs, and villagers who failed to escape fell under the orcs' butcher knives in pools of blood. The slaughtered humans became food for the orcs, these ugly monsters bringing terror to the entire continent like hungry locusts.

The resistance never stopped, and the Xis Empire gathered 600,000 troops in a short period of time to counterattack the beastman army that had approached the capital city of Sebia. The two armies clashed on the plains near Sebia, engaging in a decisive battle that would determine the fate of the Xis Empire and the entire Nord continent. The war raged on for three days, with over a million troops fiercely fighting on the vast plains. The Xis cavalry's sharp long spears pierced through the beastmen warriors' strong bodies, only to be crushed by the giant clubs wielded by the four-meter-tall war beasts of the beastmen. As soon as the beastmen threw their long spears, a hail of arrows covered their bodies. Even the ugly beastmen shed bright red blood, and the entire plain was stained with the dark red color of the warriors' blood. After nearly three days of brutal fighting, the beastmen's numerical advantage finally paid off, and the remaining Xis soldiers, numbering less than 10,000, launched a final charge surrounded by countless beastmen, until the last warrior fell to the ground, his body riddled with weapons.

Thus, the greatest confrontation between humans and beasts in history, known as the Sabian Conference, came to an end. The Western Empire was powerless to resist the beastmen's advance after its main force was annihilated, countless cities fell into flames and blood, and civilians became the target of the beastmen's slaughter. The remaining army retreated again and again until they reached the coastal port city of Buino, where refugees and soldiers crowded together, causing chaos among the people, everyone scrambling to board ships to leave this bloody continent and flee to the nearby Tartar continent.

In the midst of chaos, the beastman pursuit troops arrived. The military and civilians who were unable to retreat fought a desperate battle with their backs against the water. After a fierce fight, Buino was finally reduced to ashes. Only those who boarded the ship in time managed to save their lives. Fortunately, the beastmen were afraid of swimming, otherwise they would have continued to kill them.

After conquering the entire Nord continent, the Beast King's ambition was still not satisfied. He led his warriors to continue advancing into the Teuton continent adjacent to the Nord continent. However, his footsteps encountered strong resistance in the Return Wind Corridor connecting the two continents. The city of Marsburg stood like a mountain in front of the beast's path. This castle was built on the only passageway of the Return Wind Corridor, with mountains on both sides and thick walls as high as 50 meters at the front and back. Inside the city, there were 100,000 troops stationed by Mosan, with abundant food and defensive equipment. It would be difficult to take down this stronghold, like climbing to the sky.

But the Beast King had been dazed by his consecutive victories against humans and underestimated human military strength, leading countless beasts to charge towards Marsa Fort without much consideration. The result was predictable, with a large number of beasts being shot into hedgehogs by the arrow rain on the city wall before they even reached the bottom of the city. The powerful crossbow, combined with the momentum from above, made even the thick fur of the war giant unable to withstand it. However, the beastmen's throwing weapons were unable to pose a significant threat to the enemy on the 50-meter-high city wall.

When the beastman king finally came to his senses at the foot of the city wall, he realized that he had made a fatal mistake. He had underestimated the height of the city wall. The longest ladder he brought was only thirty meters long and could not climb over the city wall. The giant beasts that he relied on in the past worked together to lift a huge wooden battering ram and hit the two steel gates, but they couldn't shake the iron gate at all. Instead, humans took advantage of the opportunity to shoot and throw stones at the foot of the city wall, even with piles of burning oil. The number of beastmen was being consumed at an alarming rate. Seeing that the attack was hopeless, Goru had no choice but to lead his heavily wounded troops back to the Norden continent.

From then on, the Beastmen occupied the Norden continent, and gradually, the Norden continent was also known as the Beastmen Continent.

The beastmen never forgot to continue their aggression, and being belligerent was the nature of the beastmen. In the following decades, humans and beastmen clashed multiple times under Marsa Fort, each time leaving countless bodies behind as they retreated. Marsa Fort became the greatest barrier for humans to block the beastmen's advance.
