Chapter 1: The Haunted Lair of Ghosts
Ghostly Warrior Summoning Child
On a moonless night, only the twinkling starlight illuminated the eerie mountain. Ye Zichun, a foreign student returning from the provincial city, brought two brave friends, Wang Shitou and Wang Huizi, to explore the haunted fortress at night. The fortress was right in front of them, a place where 263 people were slaughtered by bandits overnight, leaving no survivors among the old, women, and children. Corpses were left unburied, exposed to the wilderness, battered by rain and wind. Since then, people passing through this place often heard strange noises inside, such as crying, chanting, killing, or laughing, making their hair stand on end. The haunted fortress got its name from then on. Even during the day, not even three or five people dared to pass through together, let alone young and strong men. But Ye Zichun didn't believe in ghosts, so he brought his friends to explore the haunted fortress at night. When they arrived, they still felt an eerie fear. The fortress was built on a mountain peak, covering over ten acres of land. Inside the fortress, weeds grew wildly, and ghostly fires danced everywhere. Fear condensed into a massive boulder, making it hard for them to breathe. They carefully made their way through the fortress, and when they walked out of the gate, Wang Huizi turned back to look at this terrifying place, then smiled lightly and said, "The so-called haunted fortress is nothing but this." As he turned to leave, a chill ran down his spine, and his backpack was pulled. He was shocked and didn't dare turn around, shouting for help from his companions. His desperate cry for help didn't bring back any rescue, but instead, he saw the blue ghostly fire chasing after his fleeing companion. He struggled and made a dash forward, only to hear the sound of "heh heh" ghostly laughter and the clashing of iron chains behind him. A shrill scream came from his running companion. The evil spirit was approaching him, and death was closing in on him.
