Chapter 29: Rogue and Rascal

Chapter 29: The Rogue of the Earth

On the way down the mountain, Russ and Dakota were still arguing nonstop. At first it was just a small quarrel, but in the end they were arguing so fiercely that their faces turned red and their necks thickened, almost to the point of drawing knives and fighting to the death.

"Rus, Dakota, you two big brothers can't stop for a moment, is it that all the younger brothers know our glorious deeds before you're happy?" Rayn was also quite annoyed and frustrated, his head about to explode, finally stopped his advancing footsteps, looked at them and couldn't help but complain.

At this time, Kasa and others were following behind the three of them not far away, all secretly laughing and occasionally whispering to each other. When they heard Captain Laine's words, they all kept quiet and stopped, watching from a distance.

"Alright, alright, let's get moving!" Russ glared at Dakota, still muttering to himself as he quickened his pace.

"Hmph!" Dakot turned his head away in disdain, and yet...

"Dakota, where are you going?" Rain asked with a flustered expression.

"I'll go find those little girls and settle the score, I..." Dakoet brandished his saber, raging furiously.

"Dakota, big brother, I understand your mood, but everything just now was a misunderstanding, don't mind it. Casa, you guys hurry up and escort Dakota back to the temporary camp." Then Rain quickly waved his hand towards Casa in the distance, with an anxious expression, saying.

"Yes sir!" Kasar's spirit guide shouted loudly, and with a wave of his hand, several robust soldiers rushed towards Dakot, who was approaching madness.

"What? What are you doing? I'm your captain, put me down quickly, quick..." Dakota struggled to say as he was lifted into the air by several people and his military knife was taken away.

"Haha, sorry Captain Dakota, just calm down for a bit." Cassa chuckled, ignoring the already furious Dakota, and waved her hand again, leading the soldiers to quickly head down the mountain. Rain followed closely behind, shaking his head in dismay, letting out a long sigh, and quickened his pace down the mountain.

When Rayn and his party returned to the temporary camp at the foot of the mountain along the newly opened mountain path, Rus, with a full beard, was interrogating the two robbers in a rage.

"Hey, fatty, what else haven't you confessed to?" Rus said with a sneer, holding the black military knife in front of the short and stout robber's neck.

The cold blade frightened the fat robber, who kept begging for mercy. Beside him on the grass lay a frail young man with brown hair curled slightly, his face pale as if he had fainted.

"Officer, spare us, we're also victims. Otherwise, ask him." The little fatty said while pointing at the young man who had fainted on the ground.

"Little fatty, he's already fainted, how can I ask him? You..."

"Get up! Get up! Don't pretend to be dizzy, hurry up and explain!" The fat man cried out while shouting, and also kicked the young man lying on the grass with force.

"Oh no, little fatty, can't you be gentler? Oh no, my butt!" The young man who was suddenly lying on the grass jumped up with a "whoosh" sound. It turned out that he was just pretending to be unconscious. What's even more unbelievable is that his hands had actually escaped from the rope restraints and were now rubbing his butt, which had been kicked by little fatty earlier. He glared at little fatty with gritted teeth, seemingly forgetting his own situation.

At this time, Lain also happened to walk over and saw this scene.

"Officers, sorry about this, I'll do it myself, I'll do it..." The bandit Lades looked around at the fully armed Imperial soldiers and said in a flustered tone, frantically pulling on the ropes, looking utterly ridiculous. Many of the soldiers couldn't help but burst out laughing.

"Alright, you, Rades, tell me how you're the victim? And earlier when I was interrogating you, you fainted, is there something else you haven't confessed?" Rus held his military sword and slowly walked over, his anger from earlier also fading away due to the influence of the soldiers.

"Sir, we've only been at the border for a few days, and we're just small-time thieves. Who knew these bandits..." Rades' expression returned to calm in an instant, throwing the ropes on his body to the ground, explaining with a joyful smile.

That little fat robber occasionally added a few words, echoing Lades' statement.

The two of them were dressed in the attire typical of imperial rascals, with coarse blue cloth covering their bodies from head to toe, tattered and worn out. Their boots were dirty and discolored, and they had nothing on them except for the two short knives that had been confiscated. They were also unclear about the terrain of the mountain and the specific location of the bandits. This was the basic information that Rhein obtained through Rus's report about the two bandits.

"Sir, we're just thieves, not robbers. We only escaped here, please let us go! Please have mercy on us, let us go, let us go..." Rades crawled to Reyn's side after observing his expression for a long time and learned that he was the highest official here, crying and sniffling, extremely pitiful, evoking sympathy from others. He also used all sorts of despicable tricks to beguile people, and did them with great skill.

Ran was speechless with laughter, Lades and that little fatty were only seventeen or eighteen years old, if they said the two of them were murderers who robbed and committed all sorts of evil deeds, it was really hard to believe.

"Ruse, Dakot, what are you going to do?" Rayn asked Ruse and glanced at Dakot beside him.

"Heh heh, Captain, the short knives they carry are all dull and rusty, with no fresh bloodstains on them. Besides, they're just kids, why not let them off?" Rus said with a smile.

"I have no opinion, you guys handle it!" Dakoerte glared at Ruse and dropped the cold words, turning to leave.

"Release him!" Ren yelled out the command.

Laddie and Little Fatty were set free, the two of them stared at each other in a daze as Russ handed over the rusty dagger to both of them with a smile.

"Are we free? Can we go?" Rades looked at Rain with some wariness, then at Russ, and his gaze swept over the soldiers holding crossbows.

"Hmm!" Rayne said again, at which point all of the soldiers lowered their crossbows.

"Thank you, thank you sir, thank you sir!" Lades and Xiao Pang thanked him profusely, bowing their heads to each soldier they passed before quickly rushing out.

"Cruel war, detestable bandits! Alas, poor children!" Rayn gazed at the two young people's gradually disappearing backs, sighing with infinite emotion.
