Section 3: Silent Sniper

Sin City (The Big Fat Kill)

Mark stood in the hotel's parking lot, estimating that Wu Junwen would be back soon. Earlier, he heard gunfire from several blocks away, and his professional demeanor made it easy for him to identify it as machine gun fire, even knowing the model. However, being hit by that kind of machine gun was not a good thing.

The E3 bulletproof off-road vehicle quickly returned to the front of the hotel and stopped in the VIP parking space. Mark saw the bullet holes on the hood, and Wu Junwen got out of the car with a backpack. Mark looked at the bullet holes, "Your car is sturdy enough that machine gun bullets can't penetrate it. Next time be careful they use M2 machine guns."

"It doesn't matter, I still have the armored vehicle modified from a tank, no need for me to deal with them, the military police will slowly eliminate them. Today we played very tiredly, go up and drink a few cups with me to relax." Wu Junwen walked into the hotel lobby, Mark followed him, before they even got on the elevator, Mark used the intercom to arrange for service staff to prepare wine, he liked strong liquor just like Wu Junwen.

Yah Yun returned to the bedroom to take a bath and change clothes, while Wu Junwen and Mark sat in the living room slowly sipping brandy, chatting about what they had done today. Mark noticed that Wu Junwen's face didn't look good, apparently due to overwork. "Your business is so big, yet you personally handle such small matters. Are you particularly fond of this customer?"

"It's not that I like her, it's just that she has a special status, she is an officer of the military police, you know all my contracts come from them, I have to treat each of them well. Moreover, her father is very powerful and helpful in doing business." Wu Junwen held his wine glass and drank heavily, getting himself drunk, feeling extremely comfortable.

Yah Yun walked out of the bedroom wearing a suspender vest and shorts, sat down on the sofa, looked at the fruit and flowers on the coffee table, picked up the fruit and ate it while asking: "What's for dinner tonight? Has it been ordered?" Wu Junwen handed her the menu, "Order whatever you want, don't worry about ordering too much, if you can't finish it I'll eat it. Try to choose dishes you haven't had before, don't order your usual favorites."

"Okay, I know, what do you want to do tomorrow?" Ya Yun asked Wu Junwen while flipping through the menu. Wu Junwen thought to himself that going out with her was more tiring than fighting a war; when she was on duty, there were other soldiers around her, but when they went out, it was just him, carrying a gun and touring around was exhausting. "I haven't decided yet." Wu Junwen deliberately brushed her off. Ya Yun said: "This city is fun only by the sea or in the mountains, and there's a nice lake at the foot of the mountain north of the city, we'll go hiking tomorrow."

"Yes, sir. I'll get ready to climb the mountain in a moment." Wu Junwen poured Mark a glass of wine, "Brother, you saw the situation we're in today. I'm not afraid of them, but it's too tiring for one person to carry all the equipment to deal with the enemy. Why don't you temporarily be my observer for a few hours and help me carry a bag? Just for a day, 500 euros. What do you say? Consider it a holiday for yourself."

"Alright, you asked and I'll answer." Mark gave him face.

The dishes were quickly delivered to the room, and Mark finished his drink and stood up to bid farewell. Based on his intuition, Wu Junwen needed some alone time, he must have liked this girl. Mark was more than a decade older than Wu Junwen, and he still understood these things about young people very well.

After Mark left, Ya Yun asked: "What did you bring him for?"

"An extra pair of eyes is always better when dealing with snipers."

Ya Yun nodded, "He's carrying the equipment so you can focus on climbing with me."

"You can put on more clothes in the room, or I'll turn up the air conditioner. You're always wearing so little, it's dizzying." Wu Junwen said while eating and teasing Ya Yun's clothes. Ya Yun said: "What's wrong, can't help but pull, I'm not even wearing underwear walking around in the room."

"All day watching you wear so little, even if it's more beautiful than a fairy, looking too much will be tiring." Wu Junwen lit a cigar, he felt good, living in a luxurious room to watch beauties was better than being in the midst of gunfire and bullets. Ya Yun said discontentedly: "Is it really fatigue? I think you haven't had enough? Being alone together for just a few hours, must you show off your wolfish tail? Be careful or I'll go back and tell everyone, that way the problem will be solved."

"Don't be like that, people always have some privacy, you don't say it and they will still find out." Wu Junwen persuaded with a pleading tone, Ya Yun smiled contentedly, "It seems you're not fearless after all."

Mark is almost forty years old, he has been in the army since high school graduation, and left the troops at over thirty years old. Later, he worked as a security company employee, security consultant and mercenary. Although he was used to easy-to-fatigue work, for the past two years, he has been working as a white-collar worker, sitting in an office all day and then wandering around hotels, making him feel like the backpack on his back is pressing down on him like a mountain.

Yah Yun walked ahead with a digital camera, while Wu Junwen followed behind him carrying a backpack. Inside the backpack was his favorite Sabr multi-purpose rifle and other essential equipment. Mark's backpack contained a disassembled M110 sniper rifle and a portable rocket launcher among other things. Wu Junwen knew that it was easy to encounter snipers in the mountains, but he thought correctly that there was already someone below assembling an M200 sniper rifle. The newly released .408 inch caliber sniper rifle with a silencer had been bought by a sniper enthusiast, but this M200 sniper rifle's target was not Yah Yun, but Wu Junwen. If he died, Yu Fei would lose his helper and it would be easy to take him down together.

The shooter operating the M200 Intervention rifle has installed a scope and silencer on the gun, which is the only large-caliber sniper rifle with a silencer. It also comes with a handheld computer that has software for calculating trajectories, as well as sensors for wind speed, temperature, and air pressure. Once these parameters are entered into the computer, it will help the shooter calculate the shooting parameters, after which they can fire. However, the target's moving speed is difficult to calculate.

Wu Junwen walked and stopped, making it difficult for the sniper to calculate the lead. The sniper hid under a tree, worried about being discovered by others. He decisively pulled the trigger, and after a faint gunshot, the bullet flew towards two kilometers away. Wu Junwen heard the sound of the bullet flying through the wind, what scared him was that he didn't hear the gunshot at all. He shouted loudly: "Get down, there's a sniper!"

The bullet hit the tree and made a huge hole.

  "Where's the sniper?" Mark asked.

"Large-caliber sniper rifle, no sound, only one, the opponent is holding an M200 sniper rifle, open the backpack to assemble our things, today can't hide, assemble the gun, you're in charge of observing and I'll deal with it." Wu Junwen opened his backpack and quickly assembled his SABR sniper rifle while speaking. He knew his gun wasn't as far-reaching as the opponent's, so he held the gun and hid to observe carefully. The hiding spot he chose was a clump of grass under the shade of a tree. Mark shouted loudly: "There's a big tree at the foot of the mountain, he's there."

"You fire a shot to attract him, and then I'll take care of the rest." Wu Junwen instructed Mark, who knew that making 500 euros in a day wasn't easy. He took aim with his M110 sniper rifle and fired, but missed due to the distance being too far. It wasn't because of his poor marksmanship, but rather because his 7.62mm sniper rifle couldn't hit targets over a kilometer away, while their opponent's gun had twice the range. Wu Junwen went down from behind the mountain, carrying his gun and moving at top speed to circle around to the other side of the mountain. Fortunately, this hill wasn't too high or large, similar to an artificially created small hill, so it was possible to get around quickly.

Wu Junwen rushed to the edge of the woods, having already scouted out the terrain before coming out to play. He had prepared for any unexpected situations and found a suitable place to lie down. He carefully observed the tree in front of him, where the enemy was still exchanging fire with Mark on the mountain. Mark had already used up a lot of bullets to lure the enemy, and now it was time for Wu Junwen to quickly finish off the task. He didn't want this guy to ruin his mood for coming out to play, but he didn't know what Yayun was doing - she had hidden herself well. The bullets were clearly flying towards him, and since the day he started working with Yu Fei, he understood that if they wanted to make a fortune together, they would also share the risks together. That's just how things were, high returns came with greater risks.

The person in the scope was clearly visible, with white skin and yellow hair. Wu Junwen knew that this was a foreigner who had been invited to come, the local gang didn't have such good marksmen, this guy wouldn't be some gun hand from a shooting club, he took aim and pulled the trigger decisively, after the crisp and pleasant sound of the gunshot, the person under the tree lay still with their head drooping, like a dead dog on the ground.

"I hit it, but I don't know if there's anyone else around. Mark, you get up first." Wu Junwen contacted Mark through the intercom, and Mark hid still, "I'm not getting up, what if there's a second shooter?" Although Mark said that, he took off his hat and slowly raised it with a branch, making some fake head-turning movements without any reaction. Mark put his hat back on, "It seems like no one else is around."

Wu Junwen took out his mobile phone and made a series of calls, first asking his own people to take a plane to find Yu Fei, then letting Yu Fei take his helicopter over to clean up the scene. However, he had already let his subordinates use a remote-controlled helicopter to scout ahead. The toy-like unmanned helicopter quickly flew over, and the walkie-talkie transmitted the report of the mercenary operating the drone: "The scene is safe, no suspicious persons, finished."

"Right, only one person came, not even a backup shooter." Wu Junwen left the woods and saw that his company's car was already near the scene. His subordinates were still sitting in the car operating drones to inspect the scene. It seemed that the security company had done a good job, Wu Junwen was relieved that his arrangement was correct. If he had been killed, who would have trusted such a security company?
