M24 Sniper Rifle

City of Evil (M24 Sniper Rifle)

  History

From 1965, the US military improved the quality of sniper rifles during the Vietnam War, when they began using standard bullets. However, the US military soon noticed that the M84 sniper rifle, which was equipped with a scope on the M14 rifle, was not suitable, and the M21 sniper rifle derived from it was too slow to emerge. It wasn't until the late Vietnam War that the M21 sniper rifle became the standard sniper rifle for the US Army and Marine Corps. The gun's barrel is slightly heavier than the M14 rifle barrel, uses special ammunition, and has a 20-round magazine capacity. Equipped with a bipod, it has good shooting stability. The trigger force is small and even, and at a distance of 300m, 10 rounds can be fired into a circle with a diameter of 15cm. The target distance can be seen directly in the scope, and turning the adjustment knob can adjust the aiming point. After 1987, the US military began to equip the M24 sniper rifle, which gradually replaced all other sniper rifles. This rifle's predecessor was various civilian versions of Remington and the 6-shot heavy barrel single-shot rifle of the M40 type.

The M24 is the US military's first sniper rifle designed from the ground up. It uses a rotating bolt with rear-locking lugs, and has a free-floating barrel. The stock is made of kevlar-reinforced graphite composite material, and has an adjustable butt plate and cheekpiece. The fore-end is narrow and rounded, and there are two sling swivels on the front of the stock and one on the rear. The rifle also features a hinged floorplate magazine that holds 5 rounds, and a thumb-operated safety. All metal parts are parkerized to prevent corrosion. The barrel is made of stainless steel and has a threaded muzzle for attaching a flash suppressor or silencer. The M24 uses an adjustable trigger with a pull of approximately 2 pounds (9 N). The rifle comes equipped with a Leupold Ultra M3A 10x42mm scope, which has a mil-dot reticle and is mounted on a Weaver rail.

The M24 is the first US military sniper rifle to be designed from the ground up. It was derived from the Remington Model 700 hunting rifle. The M24 features a rotating bolt action with a fixed breech and a free-floating barrel. The rifle has a heavy, stainless steel barrel that is 24 inches long. The stock is made of fiberglass-reinforced plastic and has an aluminum bedding block for added stability. The M24 is chambered in .308 Winchester (7.62x51mm NATO) and holds five rounds in its detachable box magazine. It was officially adopted by the US Army in 1989.
