Section 3: Seal off the scene

Sin City (Lockdown on Third Avenue)

The garrison troops rushed out and arrived at the prison gate, outside of which were many injured federal law enforcement prison police. The local police had sealed off the area around the prison. Wen Yong got out of the command vehicle and looked at the chaotic scene, understanding that these incompetent people could not control the situation. He squatted on the ground, looking at the rescued prison guards, and asked one who was still relatively clear-headed, "What's going on inside? Has your armory been taken over?"

Wen Yong nodded, "You've received too much in tips, aren't they unhappy about it?"

The wounded prison guard opened his eyes and looked at the gendarme. Wen Yong didn't bother with him, "If you all die, maybe this money will be yours, plus the federal government's compensation. If our superiors come to quell the riot and find surviving prisoners, you'll be in trouble."

"What do you want?" The prison guard looked at Wen Yong with a vigilant gaze.

Wen Yong just continued to smile, "Don't worry about the injury, we're not the same kind of people as you. Do you think we'd ask for money from you? Would we take half of your dirty earnings? My superior doesn't care about this little bit of money, he has more than enough to spend even if he weren't an officer. Don't worry about the money problem, we won't take a share of your benefits. If you were able to stand up and get rid of those people inside, then there wouldn't be anyone speaking out against you. Unfortunately, you have the ability to collect money but not the ability to stop others from reporting you."

At this time, the TV station's reporters had surrounded the prison, making it impossible to get through. Wen Yong walked over and looked at the curious reporters. Not only were there live news anchors, but also famous journalists from various major newspapers. Their lineup was even more powerful than that of the law enforcement units. "Attention, all! Shoulders up, guns!" Wen Yong shouted the order, and the soldiers hung their rifles on their shoulders. The posture they had just taken, holding their rifles and ready to fight, had also changed. "Go and make those reporters move further away. If they don't leave, take away their press cards and register them."

The military police, seeing that they were bullying unarmed journalists, came to life and rushed forward to disperse the journalists. Of course, these people who hoped to make a fortune from exclusive news would not listen to him. Wen Yong walked in front of them and said, "Everyone, please don't take pictures or record audio for now. I know what happened here. If you want to get exclusive news, listen to me. I know what's going on inside. I think the audience is not satisfied with just watching a commotion. They want to know why this happened. If you want to know, please retreat to a distance immediately. After things are over, we will naturally accept your interview. It's an exclusive interview. Let's see who can do it better."

Some journalists left obediently, while others refused to listen. The military police took away the press passes from those who didn't comply and handed them over to the soldiers for registration. Wen Yong continued to warn them, "If I find out that you're spreading false news and comments, you'll be in trouble. If you get sued, it will be the biggest news your colleagues could ask for. I will ask the judge to shut down those irresponsible institutions that break the law. You'd better watch your own careers."

Under the persuasion and threat, all the journalists chose to give in and hide far away, preparing to win the exclusive interview opportunity. Wen Yong cleared the scene and waited for Yu Fei's arrival. When Yu Fei arrived at the scene in a police car driven by Wen Qian, all the reporters were waiting from a distance. Yu Fei curiously asked: "Why are those reporters so obedient? Who drove them away?"

"I broke them up because they were causing trouble. You know about the corruption in prisons, where guards take protection money? Some people pay and still get bullied, others don't pay and can't take it anymore so they cause a scene. Now things are out of hand, what do you think we should do? Should we shoot the rioters with rifles or use gentle methods?" Wen Yong asked Captain Yu Fei for instructions.

"Are you bringing enough tear gas and rubber bullets? We're here to maintain order, not to be butchers. This isn't our territory, and excessive violence is no good either." Yu Fei was still negotiating when the special police unit dispatched by the police bureau entered the scene, carrying shotguns and assault rifles. They went in through the main gate of the prison, which was immediately sealed off by the police. A fierce gun battle then erupted inside the prison. The inmates who had taken control of the armory got their hands on bulletproof vests and helmets. These desperate men occupied the armory, using the guards' M16 rifles and Winchester shotguns to return fire nonstop. From outside the high walls of the prison, Yu Fei could hear very clearly that the chaotic gunfire would not end anytime soon.

"What's your plan?" Wen Yong asked.

"Everyone stay alert on the spot, don't be too nervous, as long as the prisoners don't escape, there's no danger. Let the police department handle it first, I want to see how many prisoners their special forces can eliminate." Yu Fei said and got back into the police car, Wen Qian also didn't get out of the car and sat inside listening to the chaotic voices on the radio.

"These people are busy enough, I get nervous when I see a big scene, and when I'm nervous, I get hungry quickly. Looking at them making such a fuss, I'm getting hungry too. Why don't we order takeout to eat? Do you have any good suggestions?" Yu Fei looked at Wen Qian with a relaxed face, Wen Qian glanced at him, "You can still eat? When I'm nervous, I don't want to eat anything. Ordering takeout is impossible, the police on the blockade line will stop them."

"You drive the car outside the blockade line, then find a good fast food restaurant to have them deliver some pizza. You make the call and I'll pay for it, okay? Get some energizing coffee too. I don't think this is going to be easy to resolve, the SWAT team hasn't trained in a long time and they're having a hard time completing their mission. They all retreated and we can go back in." Yu Fei patiently sat in the car waiting for an opportunity, while Wen Qian had no choice but to drive the police car outside the blockade line again to make a call to order food.

The food delivery vehicle arrived at the chaotic scene outside, and the driver initially thought it was a meal ordered by journalists. However, to their surprise, a police officer walked over, paid for the food, and took it back to the police car. This caught the attention of curious journalists, but Yu Fei didn't care about them. He hadn't changed into his SWAT uniform yet, and since he was sitting in the back seat of the police car, the journalists had no idea what he did. Sometimes, bounty hunters sat in police cars helping officers catch people, sometimes it was informants guiding the way, and occasionally, temporarily detained individuals also sat in the back seats.

Yu Fei sat in the car, eating pizza and drinking coffee from a paper cup with great relish. Wen Yong walked over curiously and looked at him, who was even more relaxed than he was. He said softly: "Boss, there are many reporters here paying attention to you, be careful, in case they find some loopholes and use the media to attack us again."

"I'm not wearing a uniform, what are you afraid of? Do you want to drink some coffee to refresh yourself? Later when the police can't move, I plan to go in myself. The fewer people who go, the better. If there are too many people, it's a bigger target. When the police quickly withdraw, you call the fire department and tell them I want to requisition their vehicles. Let them send out as many fire trucks with ladders as possible. It'll be useful later. Tell everyone to prepare tear gas and rubber bullets. Once the fire trucks arrive, you all get on the ladder, which will allow us to see what's going on inside the prison over the wall. I'm afraid of reporters taking sneak shots, so don't use live ammunition. Use rubber bullets to drive the rioting prisoners into the building, then quickly and accurately shoot tear gas into the building. We can't fight like the Iron Fist Unit, because not all criminals are guilty of a capital offense. Only those who seriously injure or kill prison guards, seize their weapons and use them can be shot dead. If the Special Police Unit goes in, they'll probably just try to solve the battle without distinguishing between right and wrong, fighting indiscriminately. What if these people die before using up all the bullets? That would be even more troublesome. The police equipment will fall into the hands of the criminals, and with bulletproof vests, it would be even more troublesome. Do you understand my plan?" Yu Fei said while munching on a biscuit and drinking coffee.

"We are not butchers, we only kill those who should be killed."

"Your plan is really good." said Xiao Yan, who was sitting in the passenger seat of the police car. Wen Qian said: "He's doing this without violating the law, and he has a very strong sense of humanitarianism. Even if many people are killed, there won't be any mistaken killings." Before Wen Qian could finish speaking, Wen Yong asked: "Do you really plan to go in alone?"

"With more people going in, it's easy to mistakenly hurt our own. If only I go in, I can shoot at all the targets flashing with gunfire, and without worrying about hurting any of you, I can do my job freely. You should also prepare some loudspeakers, and when the time comes, shout first and then suppress the riot. I'll tell you what to shout." Yu Fei finished speaking quickly and ate his food, as he still had to engage in a fierce battle with the troublemaking criminals later. Some stubborn people wouldn't be affected by shouting alone.

Xiao Yan got off the police car and made a gesture to Wen Qian, who knew she wanted to talk to her alone. Since there were outsiders in the car, Wen Qian also left the vehicle. Xiao Yan took her to a secluded spot and said, "Lately, you haven't been looking for me after work. Is it because you're free to meet him alone? He's taken you to two five-star hotels for dinner, and he seems to have a good impression of you. Why else would he be so willing to spend money? You've already achieved some success, shouldn't you help me out now?"

"What's the help for? Are you also thinking of dating him? In that case, I absolutely agree." Wen Qian teased her on purpose. Xiao Yan said: "Aren't there two of them? You already have one, introduce the other to me. You're already very familiar with Yu Fei, whether it works out or not, I won't bother you about it, what do you think?"

"You're looking for that conscript soldier, aren't you? That little soldier can only earn a few bucks, he can't even support you. I see him stuck in the barracks all day, and he doesn't even have a place to live here. Aren't you looking for someone with money? Why are you looking for a lowly soldier? I just don't get it." Wen Qian still felt like she understood her, Xiao Yan of course liked those handsome and wealthy boys, and their education level couldn't be too low, so why had she suddenly lowered her standards.

"Does he have money or not, do you know better than me? I'm very familiar with the military's salary grade. The squad leader and the company commander's salaries are close, and the higher the rank of the soldier, the more money they make. If they can be promoted to the chief warrant officer, their salary is basically the same as that of a colonel, equivalent to our deputy director of the division. The military police work so hard on the case, they will be promoted quickly, and after promotion, they will naturally not lack money. I'm not necessarily looking for him in the end, I just wonder if there's a possibility of finding him." Xiao Yan finished speaking and looked back at Yu Fei in the police car. Wen Yong was standing outside the car, making a phone call while drinking coffee.
