Chapter 3: The Mountain Village Murder Case (Part 1)
Chen Dakang was still very efficient in handling things and found several strong young men from the village the next day.
"Qin brothers, I've brought a few people for you to take a look. They're all sturdy young men, each with great strength." Chen Dakang's words sounded like he was buying livestock, leaving Qin Wei somewhat amused and embarrassed.
However, looking at several sturdy young men, Qin Wei also had to admit that Chen Dakang was right, these young men were really strong.
But it's not necessarily true that a strong physique can master shooting, and this is the person Yang Dakang sent over, so Qin Wei couldn't say anything.
Watching Yang Da Kang's back as he walked away, Qin Wei looked at the six young men. The prolonged gaze made several of them feel uneasy and they lowered their heads.
There was only one young man with a rifle on his back who continued to stare at Qin Wei. After about a minute, Qin Wei suddenly smiled and said, "What's your name?"
"Yang Daqiu."
"What did you used to do?"
"Da Gui is the best hunter in our Yangjia Slope, a renowned god of guns within a radius of fifty miles." A slightly thin young man next to Da Gui hastily said.
"Haha, really? Then use that crude fire gun of yours." Qin Wei pointed to the rifle slung over his back.
"Hmm." A very cold and hard response.
"Hmm, quite temperamental, well then let's compare notes, you and I." Qin Wei said with a smile.
"Alright, you decide how then." Same old coldness.
"Alright, I won't take advantage of you either, Da Gui. There are two long guns here, let's have a competition at 150 meters half-body target, five bullets per person, how about it?" Qin Wei was really curious to see what this cold and aloof kid was capable of.
"We country folks have a saying, we can do anything as long as we have a bit of luck. This kid's eyes could melt that Jin-made '65-style rifle right now."
In fact, Qin Wei had long noticed the boy's gaze. What kind of gaze was it? In Qin Wei's view, it could only be a man looking at his most beloved woman.
This kid is also a guy who loves guns like his life, Qin Wei smiled in his heart.
But Qin Wei didn't want to hand over the rifle like this, he wanted to see how capable this kid was.
Thinking of this, he picked up the two rifles placed on the stone mill in the yard and said: "You choose one, see which one is handy, the remaining one is mine."
Yang Da-kui excitedly threw the rifle on his body to the little boy who was speaking earlier, took a step forward and quickly picked up another rifle, somewhat clumsily but correctly opened the safety catch, then 'click' softly pulled open the bolt, saw that there were no bullets inside, looked at Qin Wei with some confusion.
Qin Wei shrugged and said: "You can't fight in the village, what if someone gets hurt?"
Yang Da-kui scratched his head somewhat awkwardly and said with embarrassment: "I got too excited and forgot."
"Alright, let's bring our weapons and head up the mountain. Let's find a secluded spot where no one is around, and we can have a trial by combat. You'll see who comes out on top." Qin Wei pointed to the large mountain not far outside the courtyard.
"Alright." The excited young man replied happily.
Then several people picked up two rifles and a handgun and submachine gun, quickly walking out of Chen Dake's courtyard, heading towards the distant mountains.
A few young people walked very quickly, and with several little ones being carried on their backs, they soon found a flat, uninhabited small valley in the mountains.
Qin Wei was also very satisfied with the location, finding two small trees to hang half of his body on, and after walking a full 200 steps, the two stood behind a white line at the same time.
Qin Wei turned his head and glanced at Yang Da-kui who was somewhat excited beside him, smiling and saying: "Who's first?"
Yang Da-kui glanced sideways at the half-body target 150 meters away, thought for a moment and said: "You come first, I'm afraid if I come first, you'll say I'm bullying you."
Qin Wei smiled slyly, not making a sound, took a deep breath, stabilized his emotions, and suddenly raised the long gun in his hand. Without aiming, he quickly pulled the trigger, "Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang". With the rapid pulling of the trigger, the bullets were also rapidly pushed into the barrel and fired, five bullets were shot out within less than ten seconds.
After firing five shots, Qin Wei smiled faintly and said to himself: It's okay, I've changed bodies. Although the feeling in my hand isn't great, my skills and techniques haven't been forgotten, not bad.
The five young men of the Yang family were shocked to look at Qin Wei, especially Yang Da Kui was puzzled to look at Qin Wei. In Yang Da Kui's understanding, all good marksmen would aim well before shooting, and such rapid fire was truly unseen by him.
That little boy who snatched the conversation is Yang Daming, he's Da Kui's uncle's younger brother. This kid is a clever one, after Qin Wei finished speaking, he was the first to react and ran quickly to the target they had drawn themselves, took it down and ran back just as quickly.
The confusion on his face at the time of leaving turned into shock when he came back.
Several people looked at the bullet holes on the target but were all shocked, oh my god, what kind of marksmanship is this.
Five bullets all hit the target, 47 rings, three 10-rings, one 9-ring, and one 8-ring.
Qin Wei's song immediately stunned several young people who were still a bit arrogant when they arrived, even though Qin Wei was only a few years older than them.
Qin Wei on the side was secretly observing the expressions of several people, except for Yang Da-kui who still had a stubborn face, everyone else already had a face full of admiration.
Qin Wei himself was secretly pleased, in his past life as a test shooter for light weapons testing grounds, he didn't know how many bullets he had fired to develop such a feel, even those manual rifles stored at the bottom of the warehouse were not spared by her, after working on the testing grounds for four years, he had already written off five Type 53 rifles and two Type 38 Arisakas, if it weren't for him being close friends with the armory keeper Zhuang Tong, he would have been dealt with by his unit leaders long ago.
And when did you master this quick shooting skill?
"Haha, Da Gui, it's your turn now. You don't have to learn from me, my skills are built on a pile of bullets. Let me tell you, I'm back from the US, where as long as you have money, you can shoot as many bullets as you want. Since I was young, I've been a gun enthusiast, and the number of bullets I've shot is enough to take down all the animals in these mountains several times over." Qin Wei's tone was calm, but his pride was unmistakable.
Qin Wei's words successfully stirred up the pride in Yang Daqiu's heart, known as the number one divine gun within a radius of fifty miles. He himself also had his own pride, without this pride, he would not have such a great reputation.
Two years ago, Zhao Cheng, a hunter from Sanli Pu town, was the number one god of guns within a radius of fifty miles. At that time, 16-year-old Yang Da Kui was not convinced and waited in the old forest for six days, knocking down the largest wild boar king on the nearby mountain. When the huge wild boar head was thrown into the town government office of Sanli Pu, Zhao Cheng, who was nearly forty years old, let out a sigh and went home to smash his own rifle, never going hunting in the mountains again.
From then on, Yang Daqiu became a well-known figure in dozens of villages and towns around him.
But today, Yang Daguai met an even more powerful opponent. Although he was confident of winning in terms of accuracy, the opponent's shooting speed was so fast that even if he rode a horse, he couldn't catch up.
Others have said it themselves, their marksmanship is fed with bullets, and they themselves are only the second time to come into contact with such a quick draw, the last time was when they begged their relatives in the county security team to let them play, and they didn't even fire a shot.
I also want to save up for a quick grab, but thinking of my immobile old mother at home and my young brother and sister who can only rely on me going hunting in the mountains every day to make a living, this idea had to be dispelled.
But today, the quick draw that appeared in front of him had thoroughly caught Yang Daqiu's eyes. That big Kang brother said that he was a kid who taught them how to shoot guns and didn't put him in his eyes at all. He was just a little older than himself, what could he do? Yang Daqiu was very disdainful in his heart.
However, after seeing this move by others today, Yang Daqiu knew that he had underestimated the heroes of the world. He was indeed like what the old man at the village head said - a frog at the bottom of the well. If he didn't bring out his true skills today, he would lose face completely.
Yang Da-kui took a deep breath, calming down his slightly excited emotions. He knew that when hunting, he must not be impatient or anxious, for even the slightest impatience would greatly increase the likelihood of missing his shot.
Qin Wei watched Yang Da-kui adjust his mood, nodding silently in his heart. In his previous life, he had dealt with the best snipers in the country and read many articles about sniper training. He had a certain understanding of this mysterious profession in the later generations. He knew that the most important thing for a sniper's goodness or badness was their psychological self-regulation ability. Looking at the eighteen- or nineteen-year-old kid who had such strong self-regulation abilities, he was simply a born sniper.
Qin Wei was very pleased that he could meet such a guy. If this kid is trained well, he might not be a good seedling.
Just as Qin Wei was secretly delighted, Yang Da-kui's gun rang out with a "crack", followed by the sound of the shell casing ejecting and the next round being chambered.
It took Yang Daqiu about half a minute to fire all five bullets.
Yang Daming ran back to get the target, and when he looked at the bullet holes on it, several people from Yangjia Slope were stunned, looking at Yang Daqiu with a ghostly expression.
Qin Wei's eyes lit up, and his mind was made up. He wanted to train Yang Da-kui, a natural-born sniper, into a world-renowned sniper, and not let foreigners monopolize this field.
Looking at the five bullets on the target in a plum blossom shape, Qin Wei exclaimed that he didn't know how many strange and wonderful things there were among the Chinese people.
Although Qin Wei was delighted in his heart, he still said calmly: "Not bad, kid, you have the capital to be proud of. Today I lost, this rifle belongs to you now. In the future, take good care of it. Only if you treat your weapon with a sincere attitude can it exert its maximum effect. Now let me explain to you the basic principles and maintenance methods of this rifle."
As he spoke, he picked up the Jin-made rifle in his hand and began to explain its basic structure and maintenance methods.
After finishing the rifle, Qin Wei went on to explain the pistol and submachine gun in turn. He spoke seriously and those few young men listened intently. After explaining the basic principles and maintenance methods, Qin Wei began teaching a few people how to use firearms.
Yang Daming was very fond of the MP-18 submachine gun, which had a shorter range but still packed a powerful punch, exactly what this young man liked.
The other kids also learned very diligently, and the last rifle was given to Chen Fengwu. This kid is the nephew of the old village, with a height of at least 1.85 meters, I don't know how he grew up like this. Kong Wu had great strength, holding this rifle as if it were a reed. This kid kept shouting "light", and was finally glared at by Yang Da-kui, who shut his mouth obediently.
Later, Qin Wei came to know that Chen Da Kui was the leader of all young people in the village, and all young people in the village admired this sixteen-year-old who dared to enter the old forest by himself.
Big-eyed box let Chen Youde take it, this kid is simply a born player of box guns. After being pointed out by Qin Wei for a few sentences, Chen Youde immediately played the box gun with a model, making Qin Wei exclaim that he found a Shanxi version of Double Gun Li Xiangyang.
The two remaining young men, Chen Anping and Chen Dayong, could only stand by with empty hands, watching their companions fiddle with their own weapons, while they themselves could only gaze at Qin Wei with mournful eyes, making Qin Wei's skin crawl.
Finally, Qin Wei comforted the two by promising to get each of them a gun, and after much effort, Qin Wei finally managed to placate the two.
As the sky slowly darkened, several returned home in high spirits. The guns could be taken back home, but the bullets were still left with Qin Wei. If something unexpected happened on the way home, it would be troublesome.
Back at Chen Dakang's home, after dinner, Qin Wei found Yang Dakang and asked him to take himself to the place where the convoy was bombed the next day. Yang Dakang agreed with his mouth full.
The next day, Yang Dakang took his six apprentices and went to the place where he was bombed. Looking at the chaotic scene and the car that had been burned out, thinking of those who had died, Qin Wei's heart was filled with sadness.
The villagers just cleaned up the bodies, but those damaged guns were still left on one side. Qin Wei let them take back those damaged weapons, as well as some large pieces of bomb shells and steel plates that could be found on the cars.
Qin Wei also went to the graves of the dead and paid his respects, after a moment of nostalgia, Qin Wei and his group returned to Chenjia Slope.
After returning to the village, Qin Wei disassembled all the damaged weapons and tried to assemble a usable one.
Qin Wei De cobbled together a rifle, and as for the rest, it was really impossible. Qin Wei thought for a moment, found a good gun stock, removed some parts with a saw, and then found several large shell casings and small steel plates. He brought them to the village's ironwork shop and found Chen Dàyǒng's father, Chen Tiě.
Chen Tie was the only blacksmith in the village, originally working at Sanli Pu, but as he got older, he let his eldest son Chen Dabiao take over his shop and retired to Chenjiapo.
However, the idle Chen Tie set up a small iron forge in his own yard, and when he had nothing to do, he would repair farm tools for the villagers in the village without charging any money. Whatever they gave him, such as a handful of peanuts or a basket of dates, was fine with Old Man Chen, who just enjoyed doing it.
Chen Dàyǒng was originally sent to Thirty Mile Inn by Chen Tiě, but after the Japanese opened a station there, the number of strong men being caught increased. His elder brother feared that Chen Dàyǒng would be caught, so he sent him back.
Qin Wei spoke with Old Man Chen about what he wanted, and Old Man Chen readily agreed, telling Qin Wei to come back in three days to collect it. Chen Dàyǒng, who was watching from the side, was bewildered.
A gun was assembled, making several young men very happy. This gun was given to Chen Anping, which made Chen Dayong extremely jealous.
Watching Chen Anping carrying a gun and swaying back and forth in front of him, Chen Dayong's heart was like a cat scratching.
"Alright, Dàyǒng, don't look like a wife who's been kidnapped, this gun will be yours, don't worry, when has Qin Ge ever cheated us?" Chen Daikui said, looking at Chen Dayong's expression.
"Big Brother Kuai, you don't know what that little brat from Anping looks like. He's always walking around with a gun on his back, and I'm about to be driven mad by him." Chen Dayong said with a look of discontent.
"You little scamp is jealous, how come I didn't notice Anping carrying a gun around?" Chen Daming said with a smile.
"You are a group of full-bellied people who don't know the hunger of those who are starving, and yet you speak such heartless words." Chen Dayong muttered in a low voice as he squatted on the ground.
"What are you talking about, you little scamp? You're spouting nonsense. Watch it or I'll give you a good thrashing!" Chen Daming glared at him.
"Am I wrong? You just know how to bully me." Chen Dayong said reluctantly, squatting on the ground.
"It seems that you, little rascal, have had enough. Chen Daming jumped down from the big stone and was ready to clean up Chen Dayong."
Don't look at Chen Dàyǒng being tall and big, he's no match for Chen Dàmíng in a fight. Since childhood, Chen Dàmíng has always had the upper hand over him.
"Alright, stop making a fuss. Qin Ge is here, all of you calm down." Seeing Qin Wei walking over from not far away with something in his hand, Chen Da Kui scolded the several little companions, telling them to quiet down.
A few people lowered their heads, and everyone was still very deferential to the famous child king in this village.
Before long, Qin Wei walked over, and several people looked at the thing in Qin Wei's hand with some curiosity. They all recognized this thing, which was a crossbow, less than one meter long.
Unlike others, the "frame" of this crossbow is made by stacking steel bars, and the body of the crossbow is made from a rifle stock. Some other small parts are also made entirely of steel, and even the bowstring appears to be made of steel wire mixed with animal tendon.
The entire crossbow body flickered with a cold light and a murderous aura that could be perceived by the naked eye.
