Chapter Five: Blood Debt
When Qin Wei and several others gripped their weapons tightly and walked into Chenjia Slope, everyone was stunned.
The scene presented before everyone's eyes may be something they have never seen in their lifetime.
The dead were scattered all over the main street of the village, their blood had already soaked into the yellow earth on the village road, and the villagers who were lying or sitting silently interpreted the pain and fear before they died.
"What's going on, what's going on, what's going on?" Chen Anping looked at everything in front of him and was already at a loss, while others were also staring blankly at the heartbreaking scene in front of them.
"Ah ah ah, Niang, Er Ya, Xiao Shi Tou, you must be okay, you must be okay!" Suddenly, Chen Da Kui shouted like a madman and rushed towards the direction of his home with the long gun in hand.
And several others seemed to have come to their senses at this moment, each muttering something in their mouths and rushing wildly towards their own homes.
Only Qin Wei was left, desperately clutching the weapon in his hand, with bulging veins on the back of his hand and cracking sounds from the joints of both hands. Qin Wei's face turned deathly pale, for although he had seen many deaths in his past life, this life, growing up in America, he had never experienced anything like this before.
Qin Wei didn't even know how he walked back to his own courtyard, looking at the gate that had been violently kicked open, Qin Wei's heart tightened with every step, he didn't know what he would see, but the eerily silent courtyard already hinted at the fate of its owner.
Although he knew that saving Chen Dakang's family would be a disaster, Qin Wei still held a glimmer of hope and slowly pushed open the courtyard door to see if the two children could survive.
As the already damaged gate was slowly pushed open, Qin Wei was shocked again, and couldn't help but start to feel nauseous, vomit.
The once clean courtyard was now in disarray, and on the empty ground directly opposite the door, Chen Dakang lay on the ground covered in blood. One of his hands stretched towards the door, weakly dangling over the threshold. His back was a mess of blood and flesh, which Qin Wei knew was caused by repeated stabbings from several 38 large bayonet knives. Chen Dakang's face was smeared with blood, and he seemed to be trying to crawl into the house before his death.
That's not all, the little devil who had nothing better to do than pester Qin Wei every day also lay in the yard and stopped breathing, and the tragic scene of the child's death made Qin Wei's eyes almost split.
In the courtyard, the blade of the grass cutter was open, and Da Bao's small body was split in two on both sides of the grass cutter. The internal organs were scattered all over the ground, and only a piece of flesh was left connected to his neck. Qin Wei could imagine that the child had been dragged by his legs from the crotch and slammed directly into the sharp blade, relying on speed, the small body was split in two like this.
Such a tragic scene was unbearable for this soul from decades later in modern times. Qin Wei supported himself against the wall, vomiting loudly and violently, with food residue mixed with stomach acid splashing into the corner of the courtyard. In that peaceful society of later generations, who had ever seen such a heart-wrenching scene?
Just as Qin Wei had nothing left to vomit, he suddenly remembered that Chen Dajie and Xiao Nizi had gone there.
Some weakly wiped the vomit marks from their mouths with their sleeves, and no longer dared to look at Da Bao's clear but dead eyes, full of fear, anxiety, and pain. Qin Wei rushed into Chen Da Kang's house in three strides.
Qin Wei saw Chen Dajie, but at this time Chen Dajie had already been dead for a long time. He saw that Chen Dajie's limbs were tightly bound by ropes and hung separately on the beams of the house, with not a single thread on her body, and her whole body was covered in bruises. What was most unbearable was that there was a wooden stick as thick as an arm inserted into Chen Dajie's lower body. Her eyes, which used to be full of happy light, were now filled with resentment and anger. If the amount of resentment had a quantity, it would be enough to fill the entire space between heaven and earth.
Good heavens, what kind of beasts would dare to do such a thing? In later generations, there were photos related to the atrocities committed by the Japanese army, which were shocking and heart-wrenching. But after Qin Wei witnessed such atrocities with his own eyes, he no longer knew how to describe such beasts.
Such a miserable state had almost made Qin Wei lose his ability to think, he could only mechanically put down the rope hanging Chen Dajie's limbs and then cover Chen Dajie's body with a quilt.
Because Qin Wei still had to find another person, a 7-month-old baby girl named Little Beauty.
But after searching every corner of the house, there was no sign of Little Nizi anywhere. What's going on? Where did the child go?
Just as Qin Wei was searching everywhere without a trace, a spark suddenly flashed through his mind.
Qin Wei rushed out of the house in one swift motion, his eyes fixed on the stone mill in the middle of the courtyard. A pink cloth caught his attention, and with a mixture of disbelief, Qin Wei's body trembled as he walked towards the mill.
Qin Wei was unwilling to believe his eyes, at this moment Qin Wei wished he could become blind, so he wouldn't have to see the scene that made everyone's blood boil with rage and drown their rationality.
On the stone mill of several hundred kilograms, it was full of a mixture of blood plasma and bone residue, red and white alternating, dripping down to the ground along the edge of the stone mill, and the image that entered Qin Wei's eyes made his eyes turn bright red.
A 7-month-old child was crushed by a stone mill, with all the bones in his body shattered, internal organs, brain pulp and various tissue fluids overflowing the entire stone mill.
At this time, Qin Wei had already lost his rationality due to the stimulation of everything in front of him. His eyes were full of bloodshot, his teeth were chattering with a "chirping" sound, and his hands were shaking violently.
"You little devil, I'll curse your ancestors for eight generations." Qin Wei, who was already on the verge of madness, suddenly raised his pistol and continuously pulled the trigger towards the sky.
Qin Wei's gunshot seemed to have triggered some kind of reaction, and soon gunshots rang out in the village.
"Bang." It was the sound of a Type 95 rifle.
"Rat-a-tat-tat-tat", this is the sound of an MP18.
Bang, bang, bang! This is the sound of a big-eyed box cannon.
Qin Wei fired off an entire clip of 9mm bullets, and when the trigger could no longer be pulled after all the bullets were gone, Qin Wei slowly came back to his senses.
Looking at the miserable scene in front of him, Qin Wei suddenly lost control and burst into tears, wailing loudly. At this moment, Qin Wei was like a child, crying out loud, his nose and eyes streaming with tears that flowed continuously down his face.
It wasn't until much later that Qin Wei slowly stopped crying, gently wiping away his tears. He seemed to have transformed into a different person as he stood up in the courtyard, holstering the now-empty handgun at his waist. With determination in his eyes, he walked up to Yang Dakang's body and slowly closed his unblinking eyes with his hand. In a soft voice, he said: "Brother Chen, you and your wife can rest easy now. I, your brother, will definitely avenge this grudge for you. I swear it to heaven."
As he spoke, Chen Dakang's body was arranged neatly, and then he walked to the front of Dabao's corpse, which had been split into two pieces, and put the two pieces together, placing them next to his father. The little girl's corpse was wrapped in a pink quilt by Qin Wei and placed beside Chen Dakang's corpse.
Finally, Chen Dajie's body was also carried out of the house and laid out in a row with the bodies of his family members who had already died.
Looking at the dead family of four, Qin Wei, who had been crying for a long time, fell down again with tears, and covered his mouth hard. Qin Wei found a shovel and hoe in the yard.
"Yang, as Chinese people say 'when in Rome do as the Romans do', I'm unable to find a coffin for you now, but at least let your family of four have a place to stay."
Qin Wei walked out of the yard with tears in his eyes and headed towards the empty land outside the village.
As soon as he came out of the hospital gate, he saw a figure walking back and forth in the distance. Upon closer inspection, it was Yang Da-kui.
He just stared blankly into the distance with his eyes, muttering something in his mouth, and kept walking back and forth. His beloved rifle was thrown aside, covered in dust.
Looking at Yang Da-kui like this, Qin Wei stepped forward and kicked him with one foot. The force was so great that Yang Da-kui rolled on the ground several times before stopping.
Yang Da-kui, whose eyes had lost their focus, suddenly came back to his senses and looked at Qin Wei with a bewildered expression, saying: "Qin Ge, my mother is dead, Er Ya is dead, Xiao Shi Tou is also dead, they're all dead, why are they all dead?"
Qin Wei, who had already sobered up, didn't say a word and walked forward, slapping Yang Da-kui twice with his palm, the force of which made Yang's mouth corner bleed slightly.
Yang Da-kui stared blankly at Qin Wei, while Qin Wei simply tossed the iron shovel in his hand to Yang Da-kui and said coldly: "Follow me, go dig a hole."
Qin Wei finished speaking, and Yang Da-kui still stared at Qin Wei in a daze, without making a sound.
"I'll say it again, now come with me to dig a hole and bury the person, then I'm going to go take revenge." Qin Wei's voice gradually rose.
"Revenge, revenge, revenge! Yes, I will take my revenge!" Yang Da-kui, who had just come to his senses, sprang up from the ground with a 'thud', grabbed the rifle on the ground and was about to run.
However, just as he was about to get up, Qin Wei directly smashed him to the ground with a hoe and continued to say coldly: "Can you bear to let your mother, sister, and brother's corpses be like this without any peace? You're still alive, but if you were dead, wouldn't your mother, sister, and brother be left outside, and then be dug up by wild wolves?"
Yang Da-kui, sitting on the ground, looked at Qin Wei's cold face and suddenly burst into tears. The heart-wrenching sorrow made Qin Wei's eyes well up with hot tears again.
Pulling Yang Da-kui, the remaining few who were still wailing in their own homes were gathered together, letting them cry to their heart's content. When everyone came back to their senses, they only saw that Qin Wei had already dug a huge pit over one person deep on the empty land outside the village and was continuously expanding it in all directions.
A few people understood Qin Wei's meaning, and with a heavy heart, they picked up their tools to prepare a place for their families and fellow villagers to rest in peace on the empty land outside the village.
The whole night, several people did not speak, did not eat, did not drink water, but silently buried their heads and worked hard. When the first ray of sunlight burst out in the east, that huge pit had been dug.
Looking at the big pit that had already been dug, Qin Wei walked to Yang Dakang's house with some trepidation, pushed open the door and walked in front of the four corpses, saying softly: "Brother Yang, I'm sending you on your way."
As he spoke, he didn't care about the bloodstains on the bodies of the dead people. He bent down and carried Yang Dakang's body on his back, then picked up Dabao's body which had been torn into two pieces, and walked out with difficulty.
The same scene happened simultaneously in the homes of several survivors from Yangjiaping, including Qin Wei and six others. The entire village of 131 people was concentrated into a large pit, then arranged by family one by one. Those relatives and neighbors who were still chatting with each other yesterday morning had now been separated from them by life and death.
Among the wails of seven people, a layer of earth that isolated seven people from their loved ones was poured down, and several people watched as their loved ones were slowly buried in the mud, tears blurring their vision. When the massive mound of earth was completed.
A few people could only sit opposite each other, staring at the huge mound of earth, silently shedding tears. Inside lay their loved ones, their closest relatives, the supporters of their lives, but all this ended in just one afternoon.
The seeds of hatred have been sown, and all that awaits the invaders is a bloodier revenge. Qin Wei gazed at the distant mountains, his voice cold and menacing as he said, "Little devils, your grandfather Qin has come to find you."
