Chapter 11: Jie's Story (Part 1)
Article One
As dawn was approaching, the bandits were still fast asleep.
Jie carried the AK47 captured from the bandit soldiers and sneaked to the vicinity of the bandit camp. The bandit camp was built in a very unfavorable location, with dense barbed wire inside, more than a dozen simple wooden barracks were built along the stream, and the roads in the camp were full of withered grass and rotten leaves. One or two small soldiers patrolled back and forth on the watchtower. Just as Jie was scouting, a big black thing suddenly appeared, making Jie's hair stand on end.
The DShK 14.5mm heavy machine gun, how could a group of bandits have such a powerful weapon? If it hits you once, you'll be split in two! Jie took a deep breath and muttered to himself. We must think of a way to rescue our comrades as soon as possible! Jie carefully observed the surroundings of the bandit camp again and discovered that a tall tree grew outside the iron fence, but its massive canopy stretched inside, with countless long vines hanging down to the ground. This was undoubtedly the best way to enter the bandit camp.
In order not to expose himself, Jie quickly found a tall tree that was relatively far from the bandit camp but had its canopy connected to the sky-seeing tree. He climbed up quickly and then turned over to the sky-seeing tree. From there, he used the vines to enter the bandit camp smoothly. At this time, all the barracks in the bandit camp were quiet, and Jie searched around the camp but couldn't find the prison where his fellow workers were being held. Just as he was getting anxious, a small soldier came down from the watchtower.
The little soldier should have been thirsty, only to see him come to a supply truck, open the trunk door and take out a bottle of drinking water, gulping it down. Sneaking up behind the soldier, just as he had finished drinking and was about to turn around, he pressed his gun against the soldier's lower back. "Don't make a sound, or I'll shoot you dead!" Jie warned in a low, menacing tone. The soldier was startled, hastily trying to appease him by saying, "God bless you, please don't fire." Jie said, "It's easy not to fire, tell me where the miners you captured yesterday are being held?" The soldier trembled and pointed to a low wooden cage by the creek, saying, "They're in there." Jie looked at the wooden cage the soldier had pointed out, it was extremely short, most of it hidden in the creek water, difficult to spot in the dark. Jie told the soldier, "Don't play tricks, or I'll kill you!" The soldier was about to say something when Jie's gun hit him on the back of his neck, and he fell unconscious.
Jie arrived at the wooden cage and only then did he see the true situation inside. Indeed, all his fellow workers were locked up in this specially designed water dungeon. The design of the water dungeon was very sinister. An adult standing inside could only expose their shoulders and above to breathe and eat.
"Brothers, are you all right?" Ajie called out in a low voice. Soon, there was movement inside the cage... A fellow worker said: "Ajie brother, is that you?" Ajie happily said: "It's me, I've come to rescue you, are you all okay?" The fellow worker excitedly said: "We knew it would be you, Ajie, we knew you'd definitely come to rescue us."
"Where is the 'gate'?" Jie asked anxiously. The worker said: "It's just above to the right, but be extremely careful, there's a tripwire on it, and if you're not careful, you'll trigger the water mines set up around it!" "A small tripwire can't stop me, don't worry, I'll take care of it!" Jie said, jumping up to the top of the wooden cage, carefully feeling for the tripwire, and then cutting it with his Swiss army knife. But just as he cut the tripwire, a faint metallic vibration came from somewhere, and Jie suddenly realized that he had been too careless, triggering another mechanism. No wonder there were no guards around the water dungeon.
In an instant, the alarms placed around the bandit camp went crazy. The surroundings suddenly became chaotic, with gunfire, bandits' curses, alarm sounds, and workers' cries for help intertwined together. A worker said to Jie: "Jie... don't worry about us, you run quickly!" Jie loudly shouted: "Don't panic, all of you move aside!" After saying that, he fired a few shots, breaking the iron chain locking the prison door, then swiftly opened the door and pulled out one worker after another.
At this time, the bandits had already surrounded them with submachine guns. Jie was firing at the bandits while loudly calling out to his comrades: "Everyone follow me and run!" "Capture that guy with the gun alive..." The bandits were shouting as they charged forward. At this moment, Jie suddenly remembered the "Gatling" stored in a corner of the camp, so he quickly called out to his comrades: "Head towards that big thing in the distance..." As he spoke, Jie stopped running and used a jeep as cover, exchanging fire with the bandits while protecting his comrades as they approached the "Gatling".
The bandit leader seemed to have understood Jie's intention and hastily ordered the bandits: "Stop them!" Immediately, the bandits began a frantic shooting at the miners, one after another of his fellow workers fell to the ground. In an emergency, Jie gave up resisting the bandits and rushed towards the "Gatling" machine gun. Just as he was about to reach the machine gun position, a hand grenade exploded with a loud noise beside him, shrapnel whizzed past his left eye, a trail of blood followed the shrapnel, and soon fell on Jie's face, forming a blood stain.
The unbearable pain just made him do a front flip and jump behind the "Gatling". He shouted: "Comrades! Get down quickly!" With that, flames shot out of the barrel, large-caliber bullets rained down on the enemy soldiers like raindrops, rows and rows of enemy soldiers fell to the ground, some had their heads blown off, some were cut in half at the waist, and some were even strung up like sugar canes... The cries of agony echoed through the fields, explosions went off one after another, limbs flew everywhere in the enemy camp, blood splattered everywhere...
"Quickly...” Seeing the opportunity was ripe, Jie loudly called out to his fellow workers to escape in the direction of the bandit army's exit. His fellow workers quickly scrambled to their feet and rushed towards the exit, while some of them picked up the scattered submachine guns on the ground and joined the fight. "Jie... we've got your back... hurry up and come out..." Rat-a-tat-tat-tat... The fellow workers fired at the enemy while loudly calling out to Jie. At this time, the bandits were also enraged, "Take that damn machine gun and the son of a bitch who's using it and blow them up with cannon fire!" A bandit officer yelled hysterically.
Soon, the G2 portable cannon spat out a fatal shell, rushing towards Jie. In an emergency, Jie adjusted the direction of the machine gun and fired a burst of bullets, knocking down the shell in mid-air. However, following closely behind, the second and third shells came hurtling in with fierce flames, heading straight for Jie, making the situation extremely critical. Seeing that his comrades had all safely escaped from the bandit camp, Jie seized the last moment to sweep a burst of bullets towards the bandits, then grabbed his submachine gun and leapt out of cover, rushing towards the exit to join up with his comrades.
The bandits chased wildly, bullets whizzing past Jie's ears, the entire bandit camp filled with smoke. Jie constantly changed his pace, jumping and rolling to avoid the bullets. Finally, Jie successfully rushed to the exit. He called out to his fellow workers: "Don't fight back, run deep into the forest!" But just then, a loud explosion came from inside the bandit camp, followed by a massive wave of energy that rolled out.
It turned out that the arsenal in the bandit camp suddenly exploded for some reason. At this moment, Jie suddenly discovered two tall men wearing different clothes from other bandits, pushing a person with a hood on their head quickly towards the helicopter that was about to take off.
Although he couldn't see the prisoner's face, Jie felt that from his physical characteristics, he looked extremely similar to one of his former comrades. He quickly raised his gun and shot one of the escorting soldiers, then signaled for his fellow workers to provide cover as he sprinted towards the helicopter. Another escorting soldier discovered they were under attack and hastily pressed down on the prisoner, taking a fighting stance alongside Jie. The two sides engaged in a fierce battle, neither giving an inch, with time slipping away second by second, and the surrounding enemy soldiers closing in... Jie realized that if this continued for another minute, he and his fellow workers would all be killed by the enemy. With no other choice, Jie took a risk and chose to expose himself, grabbing a hand grenade and throwing it at the enemy's position not far away, then using the smoke from the explosion to make a mad dash towards the enemy. The enemy fired wildly in confusion, but fortunately, the bullets only grazed Jie's leg. As he approached the enemy, Jie used his momentum to perform a front flip, landing behind the enemy and taking them down with two swift shots. Jie pulled out his military knife and quickly freed the "prisoner" from their restraints. When the hood was removed, Jie finally saw the "prisoner's" face - it was none other than his former commander, San Yan, from the special forces unit.
Sang Yan was surprised and delighted to see Jie, but the battle situation did not allow them to say anything to express their joy at reuniting with their comrades. Sang Yan and Jie only exchanged a glance before quickly entering the fray.
After a fierce battle, Jie, Sangyan and some workers finally escaped from the bandit camp. However, Sangyan was seriously injured in the battle with multiple gunshot wounds. Just as they were resting and treating their wounds in the dense forest, a flying machine emitting a buzzing sound flew above them. A bright light beam shot down from the flying machine, shining on Jie and his fellow workers. As the light beam shone on them, Jie and the others felt an icy chill that penetrated to their bones.
"Bad, quickly disperse and escape!" Jie shouted loudly. Upon hearing Jie's shout, the workers carried Sang Yan and swiftly dispersed into the dense forest. However, who would have known that the flying machine rapidly fired down numerous extremely small bullets, and Jie unfortunately got hit. Very soon, Jie felt his limbs becoming stiff and eventually couldn't move at all. The workers carried Jie with great difficulty as they ran through the forest, but very soon, the flying machine began its second round of sweeping fire. In extreme urgency, Jie told the workers who were already exhausted and panting: "I'm done for... you guys quickly run away... please definitely send my comrade back to the troops!" After finishing speaking, Jie thoroughly fainted.
Later, after going through nine deaths and one life, the workers finally escorted Sang Yan to a certain garrison unit at the border. Jie was taken away by that flying machine to a military base - the Jianyan Military Base under the leadership of the ancient tower organization in the Heiying Mountains on the border of Brunei and Malaysia, and the highest officer of this base was Colonel Zayil, who had originally served in the US Tree Frog Corps.
