Chapter 3: The Sea Dragon Strikes
A thick layer of rain clouds almost stuck to the sea surface, highlighting the dark and dull night. A ground-effect aircraft flew close to the sea surface, this ground-effect aircraft was a special equipment of our army, tonight flying over the strait to perform a secret mission.
Inside the cabin of the hovercraft, ten fully armed assault team members from the Marine Corps' Sea Dragon Unit sat at attention. They were among the best soldiers in the Republic's special forces. Captain Bau Zhi's expression was solemn; he was a seasoned veteran with extensive experience in special operations and knew the dangers of this mission as he led these young team members deep into enemy territory. As he looked at his team, seeing their spirited faces filled him with even more confidence in completing this mission.
In this mission, they were equipped with the most advanced and expensive equipment in our army's special forces: 05-style 5.8mm silent assault rifle, 95-style 5.8mm sniper rifle, 9.5-style 58mm machine gun, 92-style 9mm pistol, GF02-type Kevlar helmet, divine shield bulletproof vest, infrared thermal imager, acoustic detector, target detection radar, and our army's Beidou satellite positioning system. To support this mission, not only did the Nanjing Military Region's Air Force Base in Wuhu secretly assemble J-10 and J-11 fighter jets to respond to emergencies, but also the Navy's attack nuclear submarine was secretly lurking in a secret sea area to support the assault team members. For the absolute safety of this mission, the entire operation was under the surveillance of our army's "Sharp Soldier 5" and "Sharp Soldier 6" two military reconnaissance satellites.
"Attention! Attention! We have crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait and entered enemy airspace, please keep silent!" The friendly reminder from the co-pilot came through the cabin.
Bao Dunchun exchanged a look with his teammates, and the trust between them made their expressions even more determined. This determination came from the fact that they represented the top combat power of humanity in the 21st century!
In the midst of silence, another ten or so minutes passed, when suddenly the red signal light in the cabin began to flash on and off, this was the signal for takeoff!
"Check your own equipment..."
"Put on night vision goggles..."
"Get ready to strike!"
Bao Dunchu gave a series of orders in a low voice.
The team members checked their equipment one by one and put on night vision goggles.
"Number one is ready!"
"Number two is ready!"
……
"Number 9 is ready!"
The team members replied softly to Bao Dui through the intercom.
At this time, the cabin suddenly shook, and the sound of the fuselage sliding over the seawater was heard outside the cabin. The speed also slowed down a bit, and after a distance of sliding, the ekranoplan approached the beach and stopped; Bao Duanzhu opened the hatch, and the team members jumped out of the cabin one after another. The ekranoplan retreated into the sea, turned around, and slid towards a rocky bay on one side, hiding in the rocky bay. While using satellite navigation to locate, the team members carefully searched forward, crawling through the beach, passing through the rocky reefs covered with moss, and coming to the top of the mountain where trees were dense and hiding down.
"Attention all team members! We have arrived at the landing point, be cautious of concealment! Radio operator, send a message to headquarters: Eagle Three has safely arrived at the landing point and is waiting for orders." Bao Duanzhu gave the order in a low voice.
Bao Dunchun and his comrades are waiting, waiting for the heroes of the secret front line of the Republic to return triumphantly!
The base under the night sky is located in the northwest of Taiwan, facing the mainland. The full name of the base is "Air Defense Warning Radar Base", which belongs to the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China, and the anti-terrorism special task force "Night Eagle" squad stationed at the base is responsible for the security of the base.
The radar at the base is mainly used for detecting and tracking military aircraft and missiles on the mainland, measuring their coordinates, analyzing the composition of complex targets, and providing early warning and guidance for anti-missile missiles. What's worrying is that the Taiwanese military's radar has a detection range of 4,000 to 5,000 kilometers, which not only brings our country's short-range ballistic missiles on the southeastern coast into its line of sight but also reveals the trajectory of medium-range missiles in the northeast and southwest. In addition, inland airports and military bases are all under its surveillance, so if our military aircraft and missiles make strategic movements, there is a possibility of exposing their combat intentions prematurely. If the Taiwanese military is on guard, then our military will have to spend more precious time and pay a greater price in personnel casualties to attack Taiwan itself.
This base not only has military purposes, but also has a hidden political agenda to collude with foreign forces and attempt to separate Taiwan from China. The United States not only sold this radar system to Taiwan at a high price, but also openly sent senior defense intelligence officials to be stationed here, stealing intelligence that is reported directly to the Pentagon; the US Pacific Command in Hawaii; and the Seventh Fleet Command of the US military stationed in Japan. The separatist forces' wild ambition to let foreign forces intervene in the situation across the Taiwan Strait is clearly exposed. Moreover, Japan has also provided a large amount of funding and equipment for this base, and has sent several intelligence officials from its Intelligence Bureau. It can be seen that the cowardly separatist forces are attempting to use a tripartite military alliance between Taiwan, the US, and Japan to confront the mainland and obstruct national reunification. It is certain that the separatist forces' actions against the historical trend will ultimately fail!
Although this early warning radar is advanced, it's not without weaknesses. Its fatal flaw lies in its large phased array radar, which has a trapezoidal shape with a 10-meter diameter flat antenna installed on the slanted surface. The coordinates of this antenna have already been detected by our military. Although the Taiwanese military can hide the core command and control system and personnel deep within a 150-meter underground bunker, the phased array radar antenna is exposed outside. As long as it's destroyed, the command and control system becomes a useless pile of scrap metal.
Why did the national security bureau let agents sneak into Taiwan when our military had already grasped the radar coordinates of the base? Because the national security bureau received a top-secret intelligence from a mole who was hiding in the enemy's internal organization, saying that there is not only one radar in the base, but also another backup radar built in a secret location. This is to ensure that the early warning radar can still function when the base's radar is destroyed.
After the National Security Bureau received intelligence, it attached great importance to it. If we cannot grasp the coordinates of the second radar, we will not be able to completely destroy the base in the first place, and if the Taiwanese military's early warning system is intact, our strategic decision-making during wartime will be greatly affected.
Our strategy during wartime is: at the first time, use ballistic missiles to destroy the radar on the base, making it deaf and blind. Then, mobilize a large number of ground-to-ground missiles, fighter-bombers to destroy Taiwan's military airports, naval bases, air defense positions, front-line positions, and ammunition depots. Finally, conduct large-scale amphibious landing operations, taking down the entire island of Taiwan in one fell swoop, without leaving time for US and Japanese troops to provide support for Taiwan's war efforts.
It was because of the importance of the second radar coordinate that the National Security Bureau sent out its best agent, codenamed "Himalaya", Yang Wenfeng to complete this mission.
