Chapter 6: Planning the Operation
The next day, Ye Shouzhi and Xu Changsheng got up early to practice their boxing skills. After washing up and having breakfast, they went to the operations room.
Ye Shouzhi briefed them on the situation. "Our mission is to go deep into enemy territory and gather intelligence on the enemy's military strength and deployment."
Xu Changsheng nodded. "I understand. But this will be a very difficult task. We'll need to be extremely careful."
Ye Shouzhi nodded in agreement. "Yes, we must be cautious. We can't afford to make any mistakes."
Just then, there was a knock at the door. It was Lin Buxiu, the head of the intelligence department.
"Ah, Ye Shouzhi," he said. "I heard you're planning an operation. Can I help?"
Ye Shouzhi smiled. "Actually, we were just discussing that. We need to gather more information on the enemy's military strength and deployment."
Lin Buxiu nodded thoughtfully. "I think I can help with that. Let me see what I can do."
He left the room, leaving Ye Shouzhi and Xu Changsheng to continue their discussion.
As they talked, three men entered the room. They were all dressed in military uniforms and looked like seasoned soldiers.
"Ah, these are the men I've chosen for our mission," Ye Shouzhi said to Xu Changsheng. "Let me introduce them to you."
The first man was named Shao Jiaxiang. He was tall and muscular, with a rugged face and a scar above his left eyebrow.
"This is Shao Jiaxiang, the commander of the special operations unit," Ye Shouzhi said. "He's an expert in hand-to-hand combat and marksmanship."
The second man was named Chen Shuigen. He was shorter and thinner than Shao Jiaxiang, with a more refined face and a mischievous glint in his eye.
"This is Chen Shuigen, the commander of the reconnaissance unit," Ye Shouzhi said. "He's an expert in gathering intelligence and has a talent for getting out of tight spots."
The third man was named Yang Shaoliang. He was the youngest of the three, with a boyish face and a mop of unruly hair.
"This is Yang Shaoliang, the commander of the communications unit," Ye Shouzhi said. "He's an expert in radio communication and has a talent for fixing broken equipment."
Xu Changsheng nodded thoughtfully as he looked at the three men. He could see that they were all highly skilled and experienced soldiers.
"I think we have a good team here," he said to Ye Shouzhi. "But we'll need to be careful. The enemy is not going to give up easily."
Ye Shouzhi nodded in agreement. "I know. But with these men, I think we can do it."
The five of them sat down at the table and began to discuss their plan in more detail.
As they talked, Lin Buxiu returned with a large map of the enemy's territory.
"Ah, here's the information you requested," he said, spreading out the map on the table. "This is the location of the enemy's military bases and troop deployments."
Ye Shouzhi and Xu Changsheng studied the map carefully, taking note of the locations and strengths of the enemy's forces.
After a few minutes, Ye Shouzhi looked up at his men.
"Alright, here's the plan," he said. "We'll split into two teams and infiltrate the enemy's territory from different directions. We'll gather as much information as we can and then meet back here to compare notes."
The three men nodded, their faces set with determination.
"We'll do it," Shao Jiaxiang said.
"Yes, sir," Chen Shuigen added.
Yang Shaoliang just grinned and gave a thumbs-up.
Ye Shouzhi smiled, feeling a sense of confidence in his team.
"Alright, let's get moving," he said. "We have a mission to complete."
