Chapter Nineteenth A Small Chessboard
"Charge!!!!!!"
Lieutenant Akardo fired several shots into the sky, like a mad tiger. With a ferocious smile, he pointed the German flag forward.
Like a wolf king commanding a pack of wolves to charge, the Tiger King tanks, having received the order, let out a low, rough roar like unleashed tigers.
The wedge-shaped formation of the elite Tiger tanks emitted a spine-tingling, muffled roar as it advanced slowly but powerfully forward with two gigantic Maus tanks at its tip, pushing towards the fragile defensive positions of the Red Army in front.
Bursting through the guardrail and crashing into the wall, a mouse-tank with cold gray paint entered the Red Army's field of vision in a visually impactful way.
"What?! What kind of monster is this?! It's as big as the T-35 tank!!" The Red Army soldier exclaimed, his mind consumed by fear and panic.
"What's a T-34 tank? What is that?! I only know of the Tiger King tank!!" Akardo heard the Red Army soldier's exclamation and went wild on the radio.
"We are——"
A machine gun bunker that had just turned around and hadn't even had time to open fire was blown to pieces on the spot by a Tiger tank that approached and fired at close range.
"In this world—"
A group of anti-aircraft infantrymen carrying individual rocket launchers or magnetic mines were blown to pieces by the hail of cannon fire from 5 Tiger II tanks, with shattered limbs and splattered blood flying everywhere under the massive impact force, staining the passing Tiger II tank bodies red.
"Throughout history—"
A desperate iron-fist tank that had fired a revenge shot at close range was then struck by the counterattack of an onrushing group of Tiger tanks and blown to pieces.
"The Strongest——"
Lieutenant Akardo personally fired a powerful howitzer, and with a loud bang, the group of Red Army flags in the center of the base were blown down. The hammer and sickle flag that had been blown down was then crushed to pulp along with countless bodies of Red Army soldiers on the ground by the rumbling Tiger King tanks.
"Army———!!!!!!"
The gigantic mouse tank ignored the futile shooting and resistance of the iron hammer tanks below, and it was so arrogant that it didn't even open fire, but instead slowly crushed them like a road roller. After its 2-meter-wide tracks had rolled over, a puddle of blood and flesh appeared on the ground, resembling a mangled piece of metal.
The last sentence was Akado's hoarse scream. The scream contained a mix of emotions: madness, joy, delight, despair, and hatred.
"Commander! Did you see? Did you see? Your army... the invincible Tiger King tank! Today! Has finally officially shown off its unparalleled combat power to the world! Did you see? Did you see?"
Akira's roar was filled with countless complex emotions, and he hurled one desperate question after another at the iron-gray sky.
"Today is our time! The time of our Tiger King tank!!"
Because the Tiger King tank was too shocking, when the German Red Army soldiers rushed to the front of the base with their weapons, they would feel a fear that seemed to come from the depths of their souls on those Tiger King tanks like hellish demons.
How could these soldiers, already surrounded by fear, stop these crazy 'Tiger Kings'?
The battle has become a one-sided affair, with the soldiers who were frightened by the Tiger Kings being killed one after another by the swarming Tiger Kings even though they held weapons that could kill these monsters in their hands.
This is not a battle, it's a massacre.
"It's too dangerous, Commander!" Oleg's deputy rushed in from outside the command room, and just as he arrived, a shell hit a potted plant next to the command room, sending shards flying that left him with a bloody head wound.
"Comrade Lieutenant General, you must leave here! The situation is too dangerous! The enemy's firepower is too fierce! We can't withstand it at all!!" The deputy commander shouted at the general who was sitting in a chair with his eyes closed, covering his bleeding head. "I've told you before that our defenses are not enough to stop the enemy!"
"Debilegin..." There was no anger or excitement in his voice. Oleg Vandin only slightly opened his originally closed eyes and slowly said: "It's not time yet... too early..."
"The enemy's leading tanks have already reached the 4th training regiment! They are less than 2 kilometers away from us!" How can the deputy commander not be anxious? If Comrade Oleg hasn't prepared his final plan, then they will probably have to settle accounts today.
"Oh. Still 2 kilometers to go. It's really early indeed. Come on, Peter. How about a game of chess? I've learned a new tactic this time ~" After that, Oleg actually pulled out a chessboard from under the table.
Then he ignored the deputy's face which had turned as red as a pig's liver, and Oleg arranged the positions of the chess pieces for both sides by himself.
Then he picked up a black 'horse' and unreasonably placed it directly in front of his own 'king', muttering to himself at the same time.
"Oh, has the opponent's 'horse' already reached my 'king'? But my knight has already taken down the opponent's 'castle'. In theory, I should have won, but why did I get checkmated instead?"
"Comrade Lieutenant General!!!” Deborin could no longer bear it, and with a fierce swing of his hand, he slammed the chessboard in front of Oleg to the ground. Then, he slapped the table and roared at Oleg, "It's not time for games anymore! The lives of 6,000 people in the entire regiment are hanging on your every word! Please give the order quickly, whether to fight or retreat! Please make a decision quickly!"
The situation had reached this point, and De Prielgkin was no longer concerned about the difference in identity between himself and the commander in front of him, directly grabbing Oleg by the collar and lifting him up from his chair.
"Hurry up and give the order already! Commander!"
The artillery fire outside grew more intense, even Olek's command room was shaken by the approaching gunfire.
The two men remained silent for a while, and it was Oleg who first broke the silence. He wagged his finger at Deputy Director Derepkin, whose face was twisted in front of him.
"You're still too young... De Pileggi..."
Oleg gently clapped his hands to shake off the hand on his collar, then bent down by himself and picked up a black "horse" and a white "knight" from the ground.
He played with two chess pieces in his hand, completely ignoring the fierce fighting and artillery fire outside. He said calmly: "Although it's still lacking something... Never mind, it's almost enough..."
He adjusted his somewhat disheveled collar and then turned on the army broadcast.
"Execute Plan No. 2. I am Oleg Vandin. Code name 'Spider' execute plan. Repeat once more. Execute Plan No. 2."
The scene shifts to Arcado.
Akardo burst out laughing and fired another armor-piercing shell, turning a retreating Iron Hammer tank into a fireball.
"Is there really no one in this base who's worth defeating?" Akado exclaimed, looking up at the sky.
He pompously opened the hatch and climbed out. He intended to personally experience the feeling of killing with a handgun or heavier weapons, as using the invincible Tiger King tank to slaughter infantry had become boring for him. Now he decided to change to a more thrilling combat method.
Life isn't just about revealing its true beauty on the battlefield?
He has always thought so.
Although he was just one man, those two German-made revolvers in his hand seemed more like the scythe of death than any other weapon.
She waved her pistol about, as if performing a poor dance or some sort of mystical ritual. Wherever the muzzle of his pistol pointed, after a shot rang out, there would be a Red Army soldier falling down with their forehead gone.
Bizarre yet real, terrifying yet beautiful. Such contradictory words are surprisingly fitting at this moment.
Unbeknownst to him, his bullets had already run out. And around it, countless corpses had also fallen.
Akardo Wolf glanced around with his eyes.
Countless Tiger King tanks are still doing their respective tasks. Overturning houses, crushing enemies, attacking cities and lands, killing people and setting fires. In short, the front several garrisons of this Red Army camp have been thoroughly reduced to ruins by the Tiger King.
The Red Army's resistance was indeed fierce, but what's the use? Who made them encounter the strongest army in history? Don't speak ill of us after passing through the Three Realms River ~
Then Akado, like a devout believer, prayed for the Red Army soldiers who were still groaning on the ground. Then, he took out his pistol and sent them one by one to the Western Heaven.
Just as Lieutenant Akardo was still reciting this hypocritical farewell poem, a sudden broadcast sound came from the distant sky.
"Execute Plan No. 2. I am Oleg Vandin. Code name 'Spider' execute plan. Repeat once more. Execute Plan No. 2."
What's with the second plan? What the heck is going on?
Just as Akardo was still in doubt, he suddenly heard a message from the wireless communication of his earpiece.
"Attention all units! Attention all units! An enemy armed helicopter has been spotted northwest at 36 degrees, estimated to arrive in 30 minutes. All units abandon original plans, withdraw immediately, withdraw immediately."
"What the...! Who gave this order?"
Akardo loudly cursed and then gave a middle finger in the northwest direction.
Although I am quite disgusted and dissatisfied with myself, as a tank commander, I still have the most basic common sense.
Armed helicopters are the natural enemy of tanks, and there is no way to change this.
The tank encountered an armed helicopter and could only flee in disarray. It was also a helpless situation.
Forget it, after all, this time's attack is just a casual shot. The key goal is to let the Red Army in front retreat and disperse its forces to reduce the pressure on the front line. Of course, if we can take out the high-ranking commanders of the Red Army this time, that would be the best.
Re-entering the vehicle compartment, Akado was about to order a full retreat when the Tiger King tank let out another heavy rumble. However, unlike before, no matter how hard it tried to start up, the tank couldn't move an inch.
"What the hell is going on here?!" The train conductor and Akado shouted in unison.
Akardo once again drilled out of the car compartment to try and explore the situation. As he opened the car cover and drilled out of the compartment, what was in front of him left him stunned.
A large number of mechanical objects with the same shape as spiders emerged from the sewer, from the rooftop, and from ammunition boxes. They crawled out densely from all sorts of places.
And they appeared to have crawled under the nearest Tiger tank. Or directly into some tanks that were not covered with hatches, after splashing out a few blood flowers inside, there was no movement anywhere.
What surprised him the most was that some of the spiders did not drill into his body, but instead stayed in place. From their mouths, they shot out a thread composed of electric flowers. The Tiger King, bound by those electric flower threads, was just like being tied up with spider silk, unable to move an inch no matter what. Then, he was drilled into by the other swarming 'spiders'.
Those tanks that were "drilled" by the "spider" continued to shake after being drilled, while those tanks that were "possessed" by the spider shook for less than a moment before smoke emerged from their bodies. Soon afterwards, the tanks that were already emitting smoke turned into a ball of flames.
But even the giant mouse tanks couldn't avoid this situation.
But that's not the worst of it.
The armed helicopters that were supposed to appear on radio in 30 minutes can now be seen with their brownish-gray bodies.
And judging from the looks of it, those helicopters will probably be able to reach their location in less than 3 minutes.
"Damn it!" Akado roared, taking matters into his own hands, and a shell with full destructive power was fired at the launcher in front of him that was still spitting out "silk threads".
BOOM!!!
A loud explosion occurred from where the spider was standing.
And Akardo also saw with his own eyes that the spider was blown to pieces after that barrage. And the vehicle commander beside him excitedly told him "The vehicle can move now!"
After seeing its own long vehicle can act, other vehicles also followed suit and opened up the still usable turrets.
After a series of loud cannon fire, those damn spiders have been cleared out. Of course, some unlucky guys were still drilled into the vehicle by the mode-changed spiders because they didn't get to open fire.
It can't be like this! If it continues like this, we'll all perish!
Although Akardo didn't know what was going on with these spiders, he knew that staying here would only lead to a faster death. The loss of the troops would be more severe.
Akado wasn't afraid of death, but as the only remaining commander of the Third Empire's army, Akado had to take responsibility for these last imperial elites.
These elite troops cannot die! Otherwise, how can I face the great leader after I die?
Aladdin grew increasingly anxious and even gave some flustered orders for other vehicles to hasten their withdrawal.
But would the Red Army warriors as counterattackers let him go?
Of course not!!
A large number of 'spiders' rushed out along the highway. They charged straight at those tanks that had not yet withdrawn.
And what made Akado even more desperate was——
He saw those armed helicopters below, those Sky Sentinel tanks suspended in mid-air, swaying precariously but still rapidly flying towards him!!
