Bathing in blood, righteous youth
Seventy years ago this morning at 7:00 AM (China time), a victory that came at the cost of countless lives was finally secured in history: The governments of China, the US, the UK and the USSR simultaneously announced to the world that the Japanese government had unconditionally surrendered!
Unbearable to look back! Yet having no choice but to turn over that unbearable painful history.
Looking back is to remind us of history, to remember shame, to remember hatred, to remember blood and tears, to remember resilience, so that such a history will not be repeated again.
So today, on this particularly meaningful day, we can't help but look back with tears.
Do you still remember that 141 years ago, in 1874, Japan began its ambitious invasion of Taiwan and took away the Ryukyu Kingdom (now Okinawa Island, Japan)?
Do you still remember that 121 years ago, in 1894, Japan suddenly launched the First Sino-Japanese War and forced the Qing government to sign the Treaty of Shimonoseki, which brought great losses and humiliation to China.
Do you still remember that 115 years ago, in 1900, Japan and the other seven allied nations began a 28-year-long period of slaughter and pillage on Chinese territory, from the burning of the Yuanmingyuan Garden in Beijing to the Huanggutun Incident, creating one tragic event after another that shocked the world.
Do you still remember that 84 years ago, in 1931, Japan created the September 18th Incident, occupying my three northeastern provinces and implementing a "Three Alls" policy, making more than 30 million Chinese compatriots in the northeast become slaves under their iron hooves.
From then on, they marched southward, attacking Shanghai, occupying Rehe, and pressing against Beiping, committing heinous crimes.
Do you still remember, 78 years ago, the Lugou Bridge Incident was fabricated, and a full-scale invasion of China began. North China was in urgent danger! Shanghai was occupied! Nanjing was occupied! Let us forever remember this tragic day: December 13th, 1937. Japan started its shocking massacre in Nanjing. 300,000 compatriots became innocent victims within six weeks.
Thus, countless tragic cases have occurred on this vast land of China, and countless pits for tens of thousands of people, pits for thousands of people, rivers of blood, and villages without people have been created.
Do you still remember, 72 years ago, my hometown Nanxian was occupied, the Japanese army brutally and inhumanely slaughtered people in Changsha, on the fertile shores of Dongting Lake, creating China's second largest massacre: the Changsha Massacre! Please don't forget, let us, our children and grandchildren forever remember this tragic day: May 9th, 1943.
One by one, piece by piece, blood and tears everywhere, the Japanese army's atrocities are too numerous to record.
Now, Japan still stubbornly refuses to change its ways. What is it thinking? Citizens of the country, please wake up! It's time to wake up. Just yesterday, Abe was only mentioning "reflection" and "apology" indirectly by reviewing the history of past cabinets, and declared that Japanese people born after the war should not bear the "destiny of apology".
What will be left of the nation's feelings? What will be left of the world's feelings? What will be left of the feelings of the tens of millions of people who were killed by them?
In the midst of pain and suffering, we must also reflect. In reflection, we must strive to be stronger. In striving to be stronger, we must be even more vigilant.
A strong country and a strong people, with a stronger heart.
Never forget national humiliation! Revitalize China!
He who does not infringe upon me, I will not infringe upon him; he who infringes upon me, I will certainly infringe upon him.
The Chinese nation's spirit of resisting foreign invasion will live on forever! Long live the Chinese national spirit, long, long live!
Rushed and imperfect, please forgive any shortcomings! Revised at 4:00 pm on August 15, 2015.
