Chapter 18: Hero Saves Beauty

Volume 1: Military Academy Chapter 18: Hero Saves Beauty

Xu Shao Wen's face turned serious after hearing this, and he quickened his pace towards the fourth carriage. The connection between the third and fourth carriages looked a bit different, with an additional brand new door that was only slightly ajar, not fully closed. Above the lintel of this new door, there was a moderate-sized signboard with bilingual Chinese and English text: "VIP Compartment, Trespassers Not Allowed".

Xu Shaowen didn't know much about the trains during the Republic of China era, nor did he know that VIP compartments had already appeared at this time. However, just in front of this compartment door, he heard more clearly the flirtatious laughter of several men and the crying voice of the girl getting closer. Without thinking much, he immediately pushed open the door and walked into this VIP compartment.

The VIP compartment is a world of difference from the previous car, with much more relaxed space and luxurious fabric on the walls. Each window has fine curtains, and the seats are all two-person or single-person sofa seats, with plush carpets on the floor. It seems that only the rich and noble can sit in this compartment.

Near the entrance of the train car, several men were surrounding a girl, constantly making ** sounds and occasionally stretching out their hands to tease her. Among these men, one young man was wearing a Japanese kimono, two others were wearing khaki-colored Japanese military uniforms, and on the outermost side stood a middle-aged man in a Western-style suit. The person surrounded by these people was none other than Hu Min'er's maid, Xiao Lan, with many pieces of luggage scattered around her.

At the end of this carriage, there were a few Westerners in casual clothes. They showed dissatisfaction on their faces towards the Japanese men's behavior of teasing girls, but they didn't stand up and just sat there, minding their own business.

Seeing these Japanese devils acting so indecently in public transportation, Xu Shaowen couldn't help but think of the tragic events that would occur decades later. His anger surged and he rushed forward, pushing aside those Japanese people without a word, then pulled up Xiao Lan and shielded her behind him.

"What are you doing? In broad daylight, you can't even discipline your eyes and molest a decent woman?" Xu Shaowen hadn't waited for these people to react before he loudly scolded them.

The Japanese man wearing a kimono seemed to be about to fall, and was knocked back several steps by Xu Shaowen's blow, almost falling to the ground. Fortunately, two military officers standing nearby caught him in time, preventing him from falling. The kimono-clad man flew into a rage, glaring fiercely at Xu Shaowen, then spoke a torrent of Japanese. The two military officers on either side seemed to have received some instruction and charged towards Xu Shaowen with loud shouts.

Even if Xu Shao-Wen hadn't received military training at the Army Middle School and Army University, he had still received close combat training at the Central Police Academy in the 21st century. To these two Japanese martial artists, he was still not to be underestimated. Although they were also from a military background, his mind still retained the grappling techniques that were decades ahead of this era's advantage. Coupled with his physically trained body through military training and the hatred for the little devils in his heart, he could absolutely take them down.

Just as Xu Shao-wen was about to drive away to confront the two Japanese military officers, a man in Western attire behind the Japanese man in traditional clothing saw Xu's military uniform and hastily stopped him. The man in Western attire first nodded and bowed to explain something in Japanese to the man in traditional clothing, and after getting his tacit consent, he smiled obsequiously and said something to the two Japanese military officers.

The two military officers retreated to one side, no longer continuing to fight, but still glaring at Xu Shao-wen with a sinister expression on their faces full of fleshy scars.

A middle-aged man in a suit walked up to Xu Shaowen, adjusted his suit with an air of superiority, and said with a tone of disdain: "This young brother, judging from your appearance, you seem to be just a trainee, not even an officer?"

Xu Shaowen heard that the middle-aged man in the western suit spoke fluent Chinese, and he guessed that this guy was a Japanese translator. Moreover, with the other party's current arrogant attitude, it was likely that he was a traitor to China. He didn't give this traitorous translator any good face, and coldly said: "The person standing in front of you now may not be considered a military officer, but is an upright and honest Chinese."

Although Xu Shao Wen's words were straightforward, they sounded harsh to the ears of this traitorous translator. He seemed somewhat impatient and said in a cold tone: "Young brother, I'm only helping you out because we're fellow countrymen, so don't be ungrateful. Do you know who these Japanese people are? They're military officers from the Japanese Consulate in Fengtian." As he spoke, he turned around and respectfully pointed to the young man wearing a kimono: "This is none other than the son of Consul Miyazaki Yuzo, Miyazaki Motozaburo."

"Hmph, I don't care who he is, he dares to flirt with Chinese citizens on Chinese territory, and looks down on the laws of China. You're a Chinese person, yet you're helping him, are you ashamed or not?" Xu Shaowen didn't care that the other party was the son of the Japanese ambassador, what was at stake now was national hatred.

"Hey, you're really a young and fearless one!" The traitorous interpreter looked at Xu Shaowen with a mixture of surprise and a strange gaze, "Listen up, kid! I know you're a student from the Army University, and I also know that today you went to Baoding to participate in a competition held by the General Staff Headquarters. Let me tell you, Mr. Miyazaki is one of the judges for this competition!"

This remark was slightly more substantial, and Xu Shao Wen was taken aback for a moment, clearly not expecting the other party to have such an identity. He could of course disregard his own competition results, but if it affected the entire representative team of the Military Academy, he would be unable to bear the consequences emotionally or rationally. However, on second thought, he himself had never been very concerned about this competition, as it was entirely a show put on by the Northern Warlords government; what's more, the General Staff Headquarters had even invited such an arrogant and overbearing Japanese devil to act as referee - so where in this competition could there be any true fairness?

Xu Shaowen glanced at the traitorous interpreter, Miyazaki Motozaburou, who was standing behind him. The latter's face remained gloomy, but his eyes kept darting towards Xu Shaowen's back from time to time. At this moment, Hu Min'er was hiding behind Xu Shaowen, holding the frightened Xiao Lan in her arms. Could it be that this little Japanese devil still had evil intentions?
